Would have liked to see them take another shot at someone. Do we really need Julks or Shewmake on the roster?

In this very page, @Sleepy Harold just posted an Athletic article from a few hours ago that states that the Phillies offered the White Sox SS Aidan Miller, CF Justin Crawford, and lower-level prospects for Crochet at last year’s trade deadline. That seems to be fairly comparable to what the Red Sox gave up today, even if the additional pieces were “lower-level”.

Here is the tweet. I doubt he would be happy with the Chicago media, even though the local baseball beat reporters are pretty bad at their jobs.

My guess is that the third and fourth prospects in that Phillies offer were a far drop off from Meidroth and Gonzalez. Interesting though if true.

From reading the feedback from the majority of posters here. Go back to the initial trade thread. The majority was not thrilled with the return. And if you are asking if I did a scientific poll, no I did not. Just like I don’t need to come up with a list of people who liked the Fletcher or Vargas trades. The majority was expecting a greater return.

I doubt that is enough to make him want to sign with the worst team in baseball.

I wouldn’t be surprised if that is Getz’s target, as well as expecting Montgomery to eventually be at 3B. Sadly, I doubt Jacob Gonzalez is our SS of the future.

“There are reasons Montgomery went 12th in the draft. The health thing is a bit of a concern.” Did Montgomery have any health issues other than the broken ankle he sustained with an awkward slide home against Oregon? He was talked about being drafted as high as in the top four. The draft was right after his broken ankle and he was still drafted 12th. Weird thing to say.

He’s shown at least 10 homer power a season in the minors that last two years. I’m not convinced he’s Madrigal yet. Hopefully he keeps taking his vitamins and protein powder and ends up more like Pedroia.

Maybe the pressure is finally on Hoyer, but the guy has been Elias-like reluctant to trade away his top prospects.

Any one of their #3 through #5 would be fine. F*** it. Nut up, Jerry, and send some money with Robert to get the best return. It’s not like the Sox are going to spend anything of consequence this offseason.

I’m not buying it yet. They will get a starter. Will it be enough? Maybe not. But they didn’t just sign Tyler O’Neill for $49.5 million and Gary Sanchez for $8.5 million to come up short on their primary need.

Unless they were getting Anthony, I think 2 through 5 is a crapshoot, and they got 2 of those guys.
