  1. Even if Fedde isn’t traded yet, there is really no advantage to starting him tonight, only risk of him getting injured in a meaningless Sox game. Plus, whatever team acquires him will be able to pitch him right away rather than wait for his next scheduled turn in their rotation.
  2. Winker has also played RF in his career and as recently as this year and the Sox have no problem playing guys not exactly in their best defensive positions (see Gavin Sheets). But the “this guy wouldn’t have agreed to play for the Sox” excuse could be used for anyone. However, money talks and bullshit walks when it comes to free agency.
  3. Good point. Look no further than Glasnow. The Dodgers traded for him and immediately extended him, even with his injury history.
  4. Great post. Where are the results from Getz’s previous role before his promotion to GM?
  5. Okay, thanks. That gives me hope over just Boob saying it.
  6. I’m not the one who thinks some sports writer is actually stealing my thoughts from a Sox message board. That’s even more ludicrous. ?
  7. Apparently he didn’t realize the ALC is weak mainly because of his own team. ?
  8. That’s why Jerry promoted him. He knew the organization, the team, and what they needed to improve. It would be a quick turnaround and not take a GM from outside the organization a full year to assess things. Getz’s solution — defense and leadership! Oops, wait no. They actually still need those things, along with an entirely new offense. On pace for 42 wins. Excellent job, Chris.
  9. There’s not one baseball person that could say with a straight face that Getz has done a good job. Absolutely ludicrous. Fedde doesn’t make up for an otherwise terrible offseason in which Getz didn’t improve the team defense as was his stated goal or make up for a historically bad season for the franchise.
  10. Yep, this is the annual strategy. I would say it’s more like trying to find lighting in a dumpster. ?
  11. Old man Salvy seriously looked like he ended Hendrick’s career, or at least ended his run as being a good starting pitcher. It was sad. Look at this meatball from Hendricks and watch Salvy absolutely wind up and tee off on it. https://mlb-cuts-diamond.mlb.com/FORGE/2024/2024-07/26/97bcbbf6-b714cc5b-498d5bc3-csvm-diamondx64-asset_1280x720_59_16000K.mp4
  12. Can’t draft and develop them, the owner refuses to pay for them… You would think the Sox would have prioritized trading for more position players rather than apparently waiting until right now. But they had to prioritize trading for what Jerry refuses to pay for even more which is starting pitching. Eventually they will have to spend money. There is only one solution which others have already stated. ☠️
  13. He’s not my boy and I would have zero faith in him repeating this next season. It’s obvious he has to be sold high. Getz had one truly good acquisition this past offseason. ****golf claps****
  14. If Getz doesn’t turn Fedde into at least one good starting position player, his one good offseason acquisition won’t mean much in the grand scheme of things.
  15. Exactly, but beggars can’t be choosers apparently.
  16. Crochet received a $4,547,500 signing bonus when he was drafted and his salary this year is $800,000. He’s has two good seasons out of his 5 years with the Sox. You act like the poor guy is broke.
  17. The Sox have full control over what happens with Crochet over the next two years, prior to 2027 when he becomes a free agent. That’s when Crochet gets to demand a contract to his suiting from all MLB teams.
  18. Sure, it makes sense, but have you not watched what trades Elias has made? He has not made one move in which he has traded his higher-end prospects. It’s not happening.
  19. Yeah, it’s better than trying to come up with countless excuses for a terrible GM. Perhaps you will see the light once Getz fails this trade deadline but I am sure you will continue making excuses for him once he does indeed fail it.
  20. Well, that’s nothing then. That just covers Eflin’s contractual bonus for getting traded. So the Orioles will still be paying him almost twice as much as what Fedde would be owed over the next season and a half. 24:$11M, 25:$18M assignment bonus: $1M with trade
  21. It tells me that if Getz can’t get a substantially better return for Fedde, he’s a terrible GM. Eflin was due twice as much money as Fedde. The Rays sent cash to the Orioles but I would be curious as to how much.
  22. Win by 2027? With what offense? Not happening.
