  1. Haha, cash considerations. Jerry’s favorite. The cynical side of me says that they DFA Marinaccio over Scholtens because they knew they could get something for Marinaccio (e.g., cash). I know it’s just a minor move but I see no way that keeping Scholtens over Marinaccio makes your bullpen better. And if someone wants to argue that the Sox will need a terrible arm to throw a lot of innings as a long man in garbage time, just bring back Touki. He’s a free agent.
  2. Justin Dunn — #91 prospect in MLB in 2019 for the Mariners. Injuries ruined his career.
  3. I remember some hype but it was backtracked on very quickly once the losses mounted up. I don’t think Getz thought they would be a playoff contender necessarily but he definitely didn’t think that they would be as bad as they were.
  4. No, I didn’t say that. I agree with it. He probably doesn’t need to even bother doing it honestly.
  5. We have the information from Dan Hayes, a Twins beat reporter, and from SoxTalk’s own insider. Your commentary on the potential trade and what could have happened doesn’t mean much of anything as I don’t believe you have any inside information on the story, so anything you say is simply conjecture. I am going by the information provided by two actual insiders and it appears that it was indeed possible to acquire Keaschall for Fedde, if cash was also included. Getz [Jerry] likely didn’t think a return of Keaschall was worth the amount of cash he would have had to kick in with Fedde, which I guess could have been anywhere between $100K to $10 million, but no amount has been stated. Instead, Getz got a worse return after including Kopech with Fedde in Vargas, Albertus, and Perez. I wouldn’t be surprised if Getz could have traded Kopech alone to the Dodgers for both Albertus and Perez, but once again like everything you are saying, that is just my own conjecture because I have no inside knowledge. You can continue to twist yourself in a knot with various “what if?” scenarios even though you have no inside knowledge of this Fedde/Keaschall trade discussion, but I choose to rely on information provided by the people in the know rather than your random conjecture in yet another attempt to be the resident Sox/Getz apologist. So there is no right or wrong. You are just throwing junk in the air with no foundation, while I am going by the information provided by two insiders.
  6. Yet, here you are… responding and absolutely sure that two people with better sources than you are wrong and you are right.
  7. He’s too busy designing the layout for his Chris Getz fan site right now.
  8. I have no clue what you think is a “pretty good idea of what happened”. Hayes says Keaschall was offered for Fedde and our own insider said the Twins also wanted cash as well. You seem to disagree with this. So it’s not possible that Hayes heard Keaschall was offered for Fedde but he didn’t also hear that the Twins wanted cash included? And yes, all baseball insiders normally release transcripts from their phone calls. Huh?
  9. Read his post again. That’s not what he was saying. “Hitter” isn’t plural.
  10. It’s not even worth it, @caulfield12. He will make up any BS he can to defend his man love Getz. He just said we shouldn’t listen to what the Twins beat reporter said or what our own SoxTalk insider said and then proceeded to make up his own entirely hypothetical story on what he thinks happened. 🤡
  11. I’ll trust @Y2Jimmy0’s info over your incoherent ramblings. No one cares about Wheeler. The Sox failed at acquiring him just like they did with Machado and Harper. Old news that has nothing to do with this story. Dan Hayes, @Y2Jimmy0, don’t listen to those guys… @WestEddy knows all!!! 🤣
  12. Sasaki just wasn’t impressed with the idea of meeting Benny the Bull at O’Hare Airport. 🤣
  13. Here it is… https://www.soxtalk.com/forums/topic/115946-fire-chris-getz/?do=findComment&comment=4650516
  14. Didn’t SoxTalk’s own insider confirm that the Dan Hayes report was right, except he was missing that the Twins wanted the Sox to include cash in a Fedde for Keaschall swap?
  15. It still would have been worth it for the Sox to include cash with Fedde for Keaschall over packaging him with Kopech and taking back Vargas. At the point Fedde was traded, he was still owed around $10 million left on his contract — $2.5 million for the rest of 2024 and $7.5 million for 2025. And I don’t believe we ever heard how much cash the Twins wanted the Sox to include. So at the very most, the Twins could have been asking for $10 million, but I seriously doubt the Twins expected the Sox to pick up Fedde’s entire contract. The Sox are going to have one of the lowest payrolls in baseball this year but they couldn’t send some cash in a trade last year for a better return than Vargas to improve their team? Moves like taking back a Fletcher over McCarthy and a Vargas over Keaschall add up. There’s a reason we will now have to watch more garbage in RF next year — the suckfest veteran platoon of Tauchman and Slater over McCarthy. And a very nice 2B/CF prospect whose clock hasn’t started would definitely be better than Vargas right about now.
  16. Apparently, the Sox didn’t even have a seat at the table with Sasaki. Probably because they didn’t fly Tadahito Iguchi in as well. 🤣 https://www.mlb.com/news/white-sox-have-high-hopes-for-colson-montgomery-in-2025
  17. It’s just a goofy GM rambling to show off all his new player acquisitions. He is also making up smoke to preemptively defend his decision to hold Montgomery down a few weeks to ensure the extra year of control. Also, I doubt Meidroth will play SS instead of 2B when he is eventually called up.
  18. Absolutely ruthless.
  19. Turning 32 in a month. Which season looks like the outlier? https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/p/profaju01.shtml So bad.
  20. Yep, via a press release rather than facing the media. 🤣
  21. If history says anything, it will say that this was a terrible contract the second Profar signed his name to it.
  22. Jerry would love it. Anything to deflect the blame away from the true root cause. Him.
  23. McKnight is like the exact opposite of Schriffen. He is completely vanilla, so I can see your point. They need to find someone in between vanilla like McKnight and completely over the top like Schriffen.
  24. Do you think they will televise his hate speech about “the constant drone of sarcastic trolls, Cubs fans, and know-it-alls hating on the Sox, or trying their best to depress true Sox fans, their friends and even their own children from attending White Sox games or enjoying the players and the games”?
  25. Probably, but he was also the cause of the more recent personal issues.
