I love how the Phillies need an outfielder and one of the guys they are looking at likely so they don’t have to overpay for Luis Robert is a guy in Jake McCarthy that Getz/Barfield passed on for Dominic Fletcher. The Sox should currently have all three options for OF needy teams — Robert, McCarthy, and Pham. Nice scouting fail there…

If the Sox could get him for nothing and he replaces Lopez at 2B, fine. But he’s never been much of a hitter himself and I doubt he increases his value in 6-7 weeks before the deadline to garner much of anything in a trade.

He retired after his last season with the Sox in 2018.

It wasn’t really a bad break considering the Sox made the playoffs due to the COVID-shortened season. They don’t make the playoffs in 2020 if it was a full 162 game season. Their rotation was decimated after those 60 regular season games.
