All three are better than the guys Getz signed and have the potential to have a good first half. The guys Getz acquired have zero chance.

I mentioned three players that I would rather have acquired than DeJong, Lopez, Pillar, etc. if Getz was only going to sign cheap flip candidates that were bad last year. Rosario, Grichuk, and Michael A. Taylor.

For a grade 2 hip flexor, I see 4 to 6 weeks from googling.

He just turned 24 and has hit in the minors. Maybe something clicks? Are you a big Nicky Lopez fan?

It’s an improvement. Fletcher has been wretched but you have to see what he can do at some point. 26 and not getting any younger. I also hope things finally click for Sosa in the majors. Would love to not have to watch one of DeJong/Lopez the rest of the season.

Getz’s roster management has been non-stop ass clownery, considering where the Sox are at.

But the cheap free agent position players available that were better than DeJong, Pillar, etc. were Rosario, Grichuk, and Taylor. Benintendi shouldn’t have been signed at all. Like most of the rest of the roster, he’s terrible.

There are a few better players that signed for a pittance. You will say that they wouldn’t have signed with the Sox, but that would only be true if you could go inside all of their heads and assume they wouldn’t sign with the Sox for perhaps half a mill or a mill more over a contender, which you can’t.

Sure there were. Getz also acquired Stassi, whom the Braves are paying for. I’m not arguing every single sentence. $4.25 million for Maldonado and $3 million for Clevinger. Both were cheaper signings by today’s standards, were they not?

They are on pace for a worse record than that already, without Popeye on the roster. But Leone is here…

Getz signed both players because they were relatively cheap and JR would approve their salaries. Getz thought Maldonado could still play defense and Clevinger is decent starter for $3 million bucks. The end.

I’ll believe it when I see it. I think people are greatly overvaluing what a good defense is going to do for the value of these names. They are not going to bring back much in the way of prospects regardless.
