  1. So you don’t think that a new park accessible by three different color/route CTA trains rather than just one, along with two Metra stations via boat taxi would not perhaps increase the number of Sox fans that would commute to the new ballpark location? Also, what is a picture of the 78 site right now supposed to show anyone? What a barren undeveloped site looks like before the work is done? You have been proven wrong on this topic so many times with each post that you have made on it from the beginning. First, you said it was never going to happen due to soil and foundation issues, yet multiple news articles came out adding some serious steam to this being a real possibility. There are also rumors that JR is much further along with this plan than you would apparently want to believe. The mayor has commented on it. Manfred has commented on it. Now you have changed your tune again to saying a ballpark in the location just doesn’t make any sense to happen for your own weak and biased reasons (parking and tailgating). Read the tea leaves for cripes sake. Where there is smoke, there is fire.
  2. Why do we even need to talk about salary caps? These are needless excuses for the Sox being perennial losers. The Sox have had payrolls that were more than high enough to sustain winning the pathetic AL Central many more times than they achieved in the past 20 years. It was just $181 million last year. There are teams (Rays and now Orioles) that play in a much more difficult division that have been successful over the years with less money to spend. The problem was, is, and likely forever will be that the owner puts the wrong people in charge of managing his team. He values and promotes based on loyalty rather than results.
  3. Sure is. I remember his glove was always bad but wasn’t he hyped to be an almost sure thing with his bat?
  4. For Orioles fans, much like Sox fans, it’s hard to see a change being worse. The Orioles have had a pathetically low payroll for years but a good front office. We have a higher payroll but an owner that hires the wrong front office people and keeps them employed for far too long.
  5. You guys are nuts. Getz pounced at the beginning of the offseason with the Bummer trade and the DeJong signing. How many other teams acquired their star infield tandem in November?
  6. Lucky Orioles fans. And we wait…
  7. JR Venmoed Boob a $20 right after this interview.
  8. No, I think many people feel the same way.
  9. The Mariners better dare not steal Getz’s beloved Whit from him.
  10. Boras has no control over this, unless he tells Cease to fake an injury.
  11. Okay, this makes more sense now.
  12. I hope the 49ers destroy the Chiefs and put an end to the Swiftie Nation.
  13. I sure like the way that ended up, and so does the NFL.
  14. He’s just 22 now so by the end of the guaranteed money, he’ll either have been good enough that the Tigers will pick up the big option years or they will buy him out and he’ll be able to enter free agency at a relatively young 27 years old. But I agree with you that it’s surprising he didn’t get at least one guaranteed year at the end of the contract worth big money like $10 million or so, rather than them all being non-guaranteed options. That is usually the payoff for signing these team friendly deals way early in one’s career.
  15. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/01/tigers-sign-colt-keith-to-six-year-extension.html They aren’t Boras, that’s for sure.
  16. You’re right. No big guaranteed payout for any single year at the end of the deal and those buyouts are tiny. That’s better than Hahn’s contracts and is ridiculously team friendly. Sure doesn’t seem like the kid is all that confident in his abilities, but I guess he is now set for life regardless of what happens. Even if he doesn’t pan out as a starter, that isn’t horribly overpriced for a bench bat that can play 2B and 3B.
  17. I think your expectations may be too high then. The Sox are trading 2 years of control of what some people don’t think is an ace. I think it’s fair to at least call Cease a very good #2 starter right now with ace potential. If the Sox get 6 years of a #3 starter back for 2 years of a #2 starter, how much more talent should the Sox get back along with that starter? Guys like Woo and Miller are now considered to be proven mid rotation MLB starters. If you want a large return, you would have to forego these guys and go for an all prospect return.
  18. I guess when people talk about the Sox positional prospects, they mainly just mention two guys (Montgomery and Ramos) and I have seen people putting both in potential future lineups, but you are probably right.
  19. NFL is upset right now. You know they want the big Chiefs / 49ers matchup, not the Lions.
  20. Baltimore fans, your baseball team will suffer the same fate of your football team if you don’t acquire Cease. ?
  21. There’s always a risk of this guy busting, but many posters here think Bryan Ramos is a sure-fire starter in the future and Keith’s minor league numbers blow his away.
  22. To be fair, Burger will be turning 28 to start the season in April. But why you would allow your outgoing front office to swing highly impactful trades before they are canned still makes zero sense to me.
  23. He was also drafted by the Cubs with the knowledge that he needed TJ surgery.
  24. Buehrle was a 38th round pick.
