Yes, one could definitely question what Getz and the front office thinks about player values considering they just traded for a CF that is older and worse than the outfielders they already had.

I’m pretty sure you said the same thing about Acuna already. Even with his recent hot streak, Acuna has a sweet .550 OPS and did not end up being the Sox CF of the future as you had predicted. Afterall, if he was, Getz wouldn’t have acquired this new bum CF.

I don’t want to hate on Getz too much here because I like the Bart addition, but this is Hahn level of straight up lying to fans’ faces. 🤣 Let’s be honest… Bart and Romo is the catching tandem of deadline failure.

I updated my previous post. There are other guys in your system to trade for a rental. Wolkow for example. The fact that Getz only obtained players with control beyond this year likely indicates that he wasn’t even considering rentals.

Agreed, but pass on Doyle then and use Mason Adams in a trade for a rental pitcher. Or a prospect like Wolkow. The obsession with only obtaining guys with control completely limited Getz in what he could do.

Honestly, you could question overpaying Castillo for next year but shedding Seranthony’s $12 million salary for next year makes it less of an impact to the payroll. Brazoban was a great trade. Bart was basically free. The Doyle trade is a complete head scratcher.

Awful, but I’m not surprised. I told @Chicago White Sox to temper his excitement. Didn’t get two starters which is what was needed, not a scrub CF. Cubs managed to do it.

Why not? Doyle can’t hit against a pitcher throwing with their left arm, right arm, left foot, right foot, etc.

The Castillo trade was mediocre and the Brazoban trade was really good. But I was referring specifically to the Doyle trade and the Pereira DFA. Peters has proven he can play CF and even with his slump, he isn’t anywhere near as horrible with the bat as Doyle is. His career splits away from Coors are embarrassingly bad (.573 OPS). Also, Mason Adams could have helped the bullpen this season.

I don’t know anything about him. Regardless, even if he wasn’t included in the Doyle trade, Getz seemingly made the roster worse for this year. You still didn’t explain to me why they are better from this series of moves.
