The Diamondbacks just signed Joc Pederson for one year and $9.5 million dollars, but he’s evidence that you can find a replaceable short-term LF on the cheap almost annually, which is a good argument for not throwing $75 million at Benintendi. But I do like this trade.

Why do you not like the Santos trade?!? The Sox don’t have a very good history with arm/elbow soreness. If usually leads to surgery like @Lip Man 1 keeps saying. Regardless, a good closer on this team for the next couple years should always be trade bait, just like the next man up, Jordan Leasure.

I would not put any money on Santos staying healthy next year. This reminds me of the Mike Sirotka trade. The Sox selling high on knowingly damaged goods. But this return will likely be better than an obese and drunk David Wells for one year.

I like both trades. Mena will be lucky to make the majors as a reliever. I don’t get the love for him. He will likely go the way of Norge Vera.

Agreed. This would be a slam dunk IMO if Fletcher was at least a couple years younger. But at least he showed some talent in around 100 at bats. Better than how our position prospects do when they hit the bigs.

If he only OPS’s just over .700, it was a bad trade. I’m hoping for closer to .775.
