  1. This would be nice.
  2. But Middleton didn’t actually name any names specifically. I remember he said one reliever was falling asleep in the bullpen but he never said who it was. Besides, multiple players came out and said similar things as Middleton once they were traded from the Sox. It sure sounds like it truly WAS a toxic environment.
  3. Was just thinking about this. Weird offseason. They are trying to compete while still turning their expiring contracts into new players. Still seems pretty half-assed.
  4. Not surprising that JR, Kenny, and Hahn fell for a snake oil salesman since that’s what they were as well.
  5. I think “asshole” is a bit harsh. He was just honest about a dysfunctional team. Refresher link for reference: https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/38147621/ex-white-sox-reliever-keynan-middleton-rips-club-no-rules-culture
  6. Benintendi is a bad signing for any team for his performance (complete lack of power). Sure the money isn’t a killer for most teams, but once again you said it — “Sure, for Jerry it is.”
  7. Getz definitely will have overplayed his hand if Cease gets seriously injured in Spring Training or pitching before the trade deadline. Hindsight or not, his head should roll if that happens.
  8. Your last sentence nailed it. Two of your three proposed moves (Montgomery and Soler) are fantasy land for the Sox, especially after recently splurging big free agent money for once on the worst possible choice in Benintendi.
  9. Eh, I know people say you just have to get into the playoffs, but this team would get absolutely smoked in them, both offensively and via our stupid manager’s decisions. I also don’t see how we can assume anything all that positive from either Fedde or Kopech as starters.
  10. Well, it doesn’t appear that a young OF prospect is coming anytime soon. When does Getz announce the Whit signing for 2B and RF?
  11. I actually listen to them more for comedy relief than their sports insights. 10-28 as the Bears starting QB. True QB talent must never rise above poor coaching to these knuckleheads.
  12. I don’t see how it could be way less. That second year of control versus Burnes has to be paid for somehow.
  13. Agreed. Logic would say that the Orioles’ offer for Cease was likely higher. At this point, I wonder if it was one of Hjerstad or Cowser, Ortiz, and Hall.
  14. I’ve said a few times I don’t think waiting until the trade deadline to deal Cease is worth the injury risk. But I also don’t know what the trade offers are that Getz has received.
  15. It’s sad that they have to play the Rays game too. Even sadder how bad a much larger Sox payroll has been managed over the years in comparison.
  16. Do they really need to give the division to the Cubs?
  17. The only man left standing. Mike Trout!!!
  18. https://www.si.com/mlb/angels/news/angels-unlikely-to-sign-cody-bellinger-blake-snell-report-rks97
  19. Sure, we could all be wrong but no one here would’ve been happy with this same return for Cease. Hall may never be a starter with his poor walk rate and Ortiz may just be a glove first, slappy bat shortstop.
  20. Not too comparable of a scenario when you have a guy like Devin Williams ready to replace Hader at closer. Who do they have to replace Burnes in their rotation? DL Hall now?
  21. They just served up a s%*# sandwich to their fans.
  22. The Brewers were 92-70 last year. This was still a questionable decision to pretty much tank this season before it even starts, when they could’ve reassessed at the deadline. I understand they aren’t a high payroll team and can’t let guys go for nothing but I can’t imagine Brewers fans are very happy. I don’t think even JR would intentionally tank a season after winning the division the prior year.
  23. Would feel better about this happening if Snell signs somewhere and Montgomery goes back to Texas. But then again, who is going to sign Snell? Dude is on some bath salts with his current expectations. According to USA TODAY’s Bob Nightengale in a story published Jan. 27, “Blake Snell’s lone offer was a six-year, $150 million deal from the New York Yankees after Snell requested $270 million over nine years.”
