  1. In the Navy? Well, you can certainly become immersed with our AAA MiL team/players.
  2. What about a lifetime supply? Move the needle?
  3. Hey guys..just curious and I’m sure this has been answered but it’s a lot to go back through. What if the consensus on here for the first pick? Trade Fields and take Williams or do you want to trade down, keep Fields and make sure you get Harrison Jr?
  4. I mean, this is largely irrelevant to me. Teams do win when they have a lot of poor money spent but the less dumb money on your books, the better. More and more teams are wising up but there are still a lot of dumb teams out there in terms of how they spend money.
  5. Btw, can we screw this Cease talk? I want to know what you guys want to do with the first pick and if you want to trade Fields? That’s a fascinating discussion imo.
  6. Do you guys want a box of crabcakes for Cease? ?
  7. I heard during Covid, when the crab meat prices were jumping up, that G and M started sucking. Not sure if that is still an issue but they do/did make an excellent crab cake. If you ever ate them at the Peppermill they are fantastic too.
  8. Real crab cakes don’t need sauce although some like cocktail or tartar sauce anyway.
  9. Most ML players should never see arb 2 or arb 3 money. Let someone else pay for production you should be getting for the league minimum. Tampa is cheap but they are also smart, they recognize this.
  10. Well the thing is, we know what this team is valuing, what they look for and what they are teaching. It’s not always coming through in terms of who is on the ML roster right now but that’s because Elias has to build this up. It takes time. The Orioles have plenty of org filler. Now, the one question I do have about this ranking and the stuff+ ranking is what is the impact on those starts with Grayson Rodriguez. He had one of the highest stuff+ rankings in the Majors this year, so it stands to reason it was high in the minors too. But I also think most organizations would be like that..where a guy or 2 can skew some of these numbers. OTOH, these numbers encompass the entire minors, so one guy shouldn’t effect things too much.
  11. lol…no one is saying anything different but the best teams are the best teams basically every year and they draft low and are still able to get good prospects. This is why I hate the concept that you must tank for 3-5 years. You don’t need to pick high to build a system. That’s not something that can even be argued against. It’s just a fact proven by many teams every year. The Os have drafted a lot of talent outside of their highest picks. I’m not worried about that going forward.
  12. I think the only things you can gather from it is that the Os are targeting specific types of arms and that they are bringing in guys with high end stuff and hoping to be able to develop that stuff. I don’t think you can take anything else from it other than that. It doesn’t mean they will develop or be good but it does mean that they feel guys with high stuff, miss bats, have good batted ball data, etc…have a higher ceiling. I think that’s fairly obvious and most people would agree with that.
  13. And btw, your premise here is about pitching…something Elias never drafted high.
  14. 50% of all first round picks fail and that includes the high picks. Just because you have those, doesn’t mean you nail them. It’s easier but you still have to be good. BTW, the Os for Henderson as a comp pick, Westburg as a comp pick, Ortiz in round 4, Mayo in round 5..to name a few. Those weren’t top 5 picks. A player many on here want, Heston Kjerstad, the Os took second in a draft where everyone said Austin Martin was the best player in the draft. Now, Kjerstad is highly sought after and Martin, predictably, isn’t that good.
  15. If your point is that the Os sucked donkey balls before Elias came here, we agree. Not sure what else your point is though since none of that happened under his watch.
  16. That’s not even remotely what I said or even what that ranking is saying. That ranking is about statcast data. Thats it. The Os MiL pitchers also ranked 3rd in the league in stuff+. Going back to your post..:you said you don’t see much there. You said they won’t pick high anymore, so it’s tough to add those guys. You seem to be questioning how they are doing things pitching wise. Yet, advanced metrics love what they are doing. Advanced metrics says they have a lot of promising arms. When you hear pitchers talk about the Os development, they talk about all the info and technology they are exposed to. Guys who have been here pre Elias and now rave about the differences in communication and development. The best pitching teams in the sport don’t draft high either. They just know how to develop. Saying this is simply a push back on your post that just isn’t factually true. Now, what they do lack is a ML ready arm that can step in right now and be relied upon. That is why I want them to get Cease AND another young arm and deal Kremer. But the thought that they don’t have any pitching in the minors is just wrong.
  17. Truly believe what? The data is the data. Do you think BA is making it up?
  18. While you are in neverneverland, make sure you say hello to Peter Pan. ?
  19. How high do the Rays, Dodgers, Cardinals, Astros, et al…usually draft?
  20. https://x.com/baseballamerica/status/1741460448275251206?s=46&t=G3On-_LleGmZce-r3ClVZA
  21. I think the Giants are a dark horse team for Cease.
  22. Obviously…but that doesn’t diminish the need to get a good return for your few pieces.
  23. But if he signs there, it could be an issue for the Cease market.
  24. To me, he’s our 4th or 5th best prospect in terms of pure ceiling and he is our best pitching prospect. I wouldn’t move him.
  25. It’s short term thinking that your team needs to do well with the only 2 pieces you have to trade?
