  1. this place makes my head spin. I can't keep all the stat proponents and detractors straight. whatever supports their argument I guess.
  2. Not a huge fan of PECOTA but I think they had them at 78 wins.
  3. LOL. Another bad fan identified. Forward his IP address to security@chisox.com
  4. Just went out and bought my first fitted Sox hat in like 25 years. 59 throwback style.
  5. when JR bought the team, the Cubs and Sox were pretty much equals in the city.
  6. Sox are very comparable to the Royals. A stadium amidst a parking lot. Strong fanbase that wont' come out unless they win. Also KC was a very successful franchise in the 70s and 80s under a great owner Kauffman. When he died it all went to hell for a long stretch.
  7. Baseball's a business like any other. Have an enticing product and people will want it.
  8. As a very wise man once said, "Everyone has a plan 'till they get punched in the mouth."
  9. I think 14 hits shy of 2000.
  10. he could probably get $3-5 million playing another year, and I doubt he'd turn that down.
  11. well, GIT R DONE
  12. Bonds was terrible in the playoffs before the steroid years.
  13. having him under contract already will help in low-balling him on a manger's salary.
  14. Schwarber looks like a once in a generation type hitter if you ask me, which nobody did.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 11, 2015 -> 04:58 PM) How was 1986-1989? well it was pretty good in that it netted them McDowell, Ventura, Thomas, and Fernandez.
  16. Ramirez' BABIP this year was completely out of line from his career - like 70 points below. Fluke I dunno. Something to consider.
  17. 16th in WAR for the 2012 white sox position players. BFD. and you had a bunch of guys do way better than was expected and it still wasn't that good.
  18. DeAza garbage. Viciedo garbage. Youk. Beckham. 36 year old Konerko. Adam Dunn hit .204. Couple guys had unexpectedly good years and the position players were still 16th in WAR.
  19. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Oct 10, 2015 -> 02:40 PM) I'll assume you meant 2013. No I meant 2012. AJ had hit the fountain of youth somehow and Rios had a fluke year. Other than that looks like garbage to me.
  20. The position players were terrible in 2012 and were still terrible in 2015. That was what I took from it.
  21. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Oct 10, 2015 -> 12:12 PM) I don't think I've ever tuned in to 890 before in my life. Not even for Uncle Lar and Little Tommy?
  22. Hopefully they lose in the most painful possible way.
  23. LOL. he must be the best defensive center fielder of all time. Absurd.
  24. OK. I appreciate you getting me up to speed on this. Seems like it has limited predictive value then, which is what my initial hunch was.
