i believe that everyone has a right to ask or voice a question or opinion. but come on, how many times does the "ozzie quit on the team or deserve to be the next manager" . hasn't been brow beated enuf? but then again, what the hell do i know?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 07:42 AM) Please tell me in a DIRECT answer. Don't be a politician. What the hell did Ozzie quit?? It was the last week of September and his team sucked and had long ago quit on him. Robin's quit on him this year as well. Please folks answer my question. This is big boy sports. What the hell did Ozzie quit on? A week of more bad baseball? Robin quits every time he puts a position player in to pitch by this type reasoning. first, he was the manager of the sox .... a season starts and a season ends. a player / coach / manager and etc.... is on the team for that whole duration. next, negotiating or talking to another team while in the employment of another, while in this case is the sole rights of the team, unless the manager / coach is fired from this team or the team has given permission to the other team to negotiate with said person. then it will be up to the team to wait for the end of the season for the deal to happen. here is the point, he should have waited and so should have the marlins til the end of the season. ozzie was not fired, he was still employed by the sox. how many times can anyone on a contract can quit???? ozzie didn't retired, he quit regardless of the time left. he had a contract and he didn't fulfill his side. any way, was that the way to treat the owner who believe in you to manage?? was that a way for ozzie to treat the fans who believe in you?? it doesn't matter if he had a disagreement with someone in the FO. he should have waited until the end of the season. btw, the sox owners, if i remember correctly, didn't pursue any actions against ozzie nor the marlins on this.

QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 12:02 AM) I wouldn't be opposed to gutting the entire organization from top to bottom except for Hawk, Sale, and Rodon. Sale is one the best in the game, so he can stay, Rodon has a ton of potential, and Hawk is an all-time legend that should be in the booth for however long he wants to. Everyone else can F off and I wouldn't care. i would add Jose A there and Q.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 01:11 AM) 14 innings the night before, then your starter gets his ass kicked the next day. The pen pitched 13 innings in two days,. and 19 innings over three days when you add Sale getting his ass kicked by the Twins on Sunday. very good logic.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 09:56 PM) Yo, Alexei had a 90 MPH fastball, a 79 curve and a 67 change-up. Robin is turning him into the fabled swing player. crazy idea..... do you think that alexei can become a pitcher in his later career??

QUOTE (harkness @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 11:08 PM) looks like this thread did go somewhere... I'm saying no more Olt... I've seen enough. I'd rather see what Saladino can do. Have also seen enough of Webb... bring someone else in. Webb has proven over and over he has no control. His ERA this year being low was a façade... opponents batting averages remained very high against him. Shark just has lost it and it's only getting worse... He needs to just take a break (and hopefully go away to another team). ref webb, he still have good pitches.... and as you said control. i can see 1 more spring training to see what happens.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 10:55 PM) I have heard nothing but rumor on Cooper and Smard not getting along. It is true this could be just bad year, but I will say that some baseball analysts said they didn;' think the Shark was as good as advertised. Saying that the Sox must have or they wouldn't have pulled theta 4 players to Oakland trade. A qualifying offer at the least and a contract at best from the Sox will occur in my opinion i do as well. it will be the best move, a win - win situation.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 10:34 PM) #3. The Marlins, Phillies, and Braves are BAD many thanks for the update and i agree. as i said, wishful hoping. -
QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 12:01 AM) How could letting him come to camp be a horrible misstep? All they can do is act upon the information they have. So far he hasnt been charged and as far as we know the NHL hasnt stepped in and told the Hawks they were going to punish him. The main issue it could cause is Kane being a distraction but even if hes not there the media is going to be hounding his teammates and coaches about the situation all the time anyway. you make a lot of good points. but yeah, the hawks and their players will receive alot of media attentions. it will be expected. now is where i would trust the coach and the FO to step in and deflect it.... how??? i don't know, but i will trust the hawks org. just maybe this stupidity of kane will help many of the young players on the hawks will learned, esp kane.
-
QUOTE (shipps @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 11:21 PM) I still get the feeling no matter what the Hawks plan on trading him. you may very well be right. esp with the hawks on the salary cap max. however, the hawks are image conscience and this whole thing is really upsetting for them. now, if the hawks knows he is coming to training, camp. 1 or 2 things may have happen. the grand jury came back positive or he, kane got a special something to travel outside the his state. if anything, kane comes out of this without any criminal action, something this yr, closer to the deadline i think the hawks will explore any trade ideas. it is really too bad the stl hockey player Vladimir Tarasenko signed a 8 yr deal just this summer. oh well.

QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 07:46 PM) They could also be making a horrible misstep. pls don't take this the wrong way.... but how??

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 07:30 PM) It's just a message board. Nobody's 'living' in the past or even present on the message board, just spending leisure time and commenting. It's not that big a deal. and there are plenty of posters who thinks the savior is ozzie and i wouldn't be surprise it is a big deal to some of them. as you said, it is a msg board. every one is right and everyone is wrong.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 07:00 PM) I would ask why??? There were "rumors that Shark and Cooper do not get a long. If true, it might very well explain how Shark went from decent to horrible. If that is the reason, why would you bring him back since that would be a cancer in the clubhouse, especially w young pitchers. a. there is no rumors or innuendo of shark being a cancer. b. the fact that if he accept the offer, then he is out to prove that 2015 was a bad yr. he will be out to redeem himself. the sox will reap that success. c. if he does redeem himself, their will be a possibility of a trade later. d. there is still a hole in the lineup as is. e. trade him before the season starts if a team will gamble on him.

Sox have tried to sign Samardzija to a long term deal
LDF replied to Sockin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 04:09 PM) Gentleman, you are both correct. I was very much against the idea of trading for Samardzija last November before the trade happened but I would never have guessed he would have such a bad year and honestly thought he would pitch just fine for the Sox once the trade was made. I don't think anyone in baseball could have guessed he would have such a bad year, a regression maybe but not to the epic proportions we have witnessed this year. It is what it is and its time to move on. excellent. point. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 14, 2015 -> 05:44 PM) I would be pleased if we could finish 10th. falling to #3 would be better, but yeah i agree #10 is the best safe number. -
while many are making a very compelling and commendable optimism of a wish list. i will pray for the baseball gods to shine on this .... this team that has been leaking for many yrs and ask for something simple. to rid of and / or find replacements for. 1. RV 2. KW 3. any present 3b the sox have now. 4. buy out adam laroche contract if able.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 03:47 PM) I agree, Dunn was fantastic to watch on the mound lol. excellent. finding something in a depressing game.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 02:03 PM) You really want Maeda for his expected contract after what happened to Tanaka? The overuse of pitchers in Japan is a real problem. Tanaka contract..... man was that a silver bullet the sox org escape. whew.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 03:17 PM) Guys can we please stop pretending that we KNEW s*** ALL ALONG? Samardzija has had a s***ty year that no one should have predicted, even if you didn't like the original acquisition. You're all lying if you claim you knew he would be this bad. very true. i never posted my displeasure about this trade, but i have a witness when the 2 of us talked shiite about this trade and of shark. but any sox fans has to be cheering for the sox..... all the way til the end of the season. i love a draft, but i still want my sox team to win, period. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 03:13 PM) I think the going through the motions isn't accurate. I will give him competitiveness, and the fact is, he is still pitching for a new contract. It makes no sense that he would basically pack it in right now. He is just lost on the mound, and I guess that makes it look like he's not trying, but it would make zero sense from a lot of perspectives for him not to be fully engaged. you know, you may be right.... it is my opinion for any other ideas at this time. however, look at the bold, this is my point though. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 02:28 PM) I have never been a Samardzija fan, but as much as I have disliked him, and thought he was overhyped before he was ever a White Sox, I know he's not as awful as he has been his last 10 or so starts. He's missing his spots, he's throwing a ton of meatballs. What would his numbers be if he didn't have that hot stretch right before the deadline? The Sox and Shark will both correctly move on this offseason and probably both be better for it. The Sox will have money they earmarked for him to spend elsewhere, Shark will go somewhere with a fresh start and probably will be mediocre over the course of his deal not horrible like he his now. shark was ready to leave. to me, it seems as he is going thru the motions till the end of the season he is pitching with out any emotion or for me, caring about the results.
