  1. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Sep 6, 2015 -> 05:31 AM) Let him play 3rd for the rest of september, nothing to lose. If he is decent at defense and can hit .250/.320/.400 he is better than any other option we have next year i will disagree.... he already had 2 1/2 season of hitting below the 200 avg. let him start working with the coaches with an occasional game to get some reps. then go full force in the offseason and spring training.
  2. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Sep 6, 2015 -> 06:58 AM) It does if the toxic relationship is putting more pressure on said pitcher and causing issues. Remember Cory Snyder? Good power hitter in Cleveland. Didn't get along with Walt Hriniak who tried to change his approach. Said result, Snyder only lasted a half season with the Sox in 1992. Mark and while you do have a great point.... it is still up to the pitcher to believe that the help well actually be of benefit. if not, i don't see why anything has to be forced on the player. i would tell coop, don't offer any help .... let him come to you and don't be condescending if he does and act professional again, it is up to the player if he needs help.
  3. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Sep 6, 2015 -> 12:34 AM) Beckham is in the lineup tonight. Just the player the Front Office should be trying to get a good look at. i know....what or can the front office and or the lackey RV in the manager office .... can they see the big picture.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 11:38 PM) If he is in the picture it means he is showing his earlier promise. He has power, somethimg the Sox can use. Chances are. A year from now we will all forget he was ever a White Sox, but it is worth a shot. well i just look at the splits on his career, looking at the stats (http://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.cgi?id=olt---001mic) his history appears to be a little less than DV. great stats in the minors and weak in the majors. i just hope he can recoup his good hitting and the sox will reap the benefits.
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 08:26 PM) Zangari was in high school. In May. exactly .... and he is performing like this. impressive for me.... just hope he can do this in his development and career .
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 07:37 PM) What's Olt's status for next season? Does he have minor league options remaining? nice question. but that brings up an interesting question. if he does, then why did they not send him to the minors.
  7. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 07:31 PM) I don't know of the whole cooper/shark is a issue. Only place I've heard it is from this post and that coming from Dave's Kaplan of all people I take with a grain of salt. Kaplan is a pompous a** and huge cubs homer so I couldn't take anything he says about the sox being legit. That's my take lol and you got a great point. this was mention before and i agree. but still it does brings up a interesting point. now i been meaning to ask, does it really matter internally if a pitcher whose has success in the past, really need to get along with the pitching coach.
  8. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 07:30 PM) I remember reading that he is an average defender which is better than we ran out there the past few years. still the sox still has no one jumping forward to make a name for themselves to take on 3b.... so it still doesn't hurt. btw..... thanks
  9. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 07:25 PM) This discussion = awesome yeah you have great poster who are very knowledgeable debating pov's.
  10. i still say, offer shark a QO..... the gamble in that move will be a good one. if he accept it to rebuild his value, the sox can reap the reward for that move.
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 07:17 PM) Well, I guess we have a new toy to look at? i don't know about his stat wise, about his defense. but man, that avg.... but it doesn't hurt and nothing to loose.
  12. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 06:09 PM) It's exciting to finally see some hitters developing. Both Zangari and Zavala have been impressive in their own right. Zavala hitting as a catcher and Zangari hitting as an 18 year 1B fresh out of HS. I'm really looking forward to watching them develop in the years to come. Nice thread oldsox! Anyone know how Zavala's catching skills look? I googled him but came up empty. yeah this is an excellent thread and really nice info being shared. Zangari and really throwing me... here are rhetorical questions. 1. where was Zangari last yr.... meaning his development. 2. if he is doing this now, against this level of competition, can anyone not feel excited ... meaning the same excitement of a Rodon, Anderson etc.... 3. any prediction of how more yrs of production would it take to really be talked about for the majors.
  13. QUOTE (raBBit @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 03:24 PM) This is false. The current CBA makes it more than a lottery ticket. It's a financial allotment. All winter, and past that really, you complained about losing picks due to signing Cabrera/Robertson and how it was going to set the organization back. Now when there is a potential compensation available, a pick that is more valuable than the 2nd/3rd picks lost, then the QO comp is basically worthless. There is no consistency in your thought process, just consistency in the complaining. You're like a politician who banks off of people's short term memories and flip flops to suit your agenda. Your agenda: b****ing about this organization like they owe you something. i like the idea of stirring the pot. to get more conversation going. that is my opinion.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 02:51 PM) So based on your strong endorsement of this pick you think that signing Robertson and Cabrera was a clear mistake right? Because the priority must be accumulating draft picks? Otherwise you're doing the same thing you accuse me of. What I would say, and have said from the start, is that the draft pick is a poor exchange for a player. If you've got a guy already at AAA who looks to have a shot at the big leagues, reasonable age for that level, that's worth more to me than a sandwich pick. I'll take a first round pick over a generic AAA player unless they look really solid, but a sandwich pick is worth less than that. It shouldn't go into your calculation of "do we trade this group of players for a pitcher near free agency" because even if it works out it won't impact your roster for another year. It should barely register on your radar for making a deadline deal, because if you can't get better value than that at the deadline then the rest of the league wants nothing to do with that player. It's nice, if you're accumulating a bunch of them it can help your roster in a few years, and it's the kind of thing you should try to accumulate more of if you're going through a 3-4 year rebuilding process. Somehow I don't think you're going to endorse doing that. you got a point. i think there has to be a fine line between both ways. using the draft pool to rebuild or replenish the org and using the fa to pick and choice the necessary pieces needed to make the team stronger, esp with the lack of depth this team is lacking. on i look at it this way, this team is in a flux situation, they have the players that can do wonders and the sox can't wait for the org to produce the necessary players. so it has not choice to go into the fa rt. while at the same time still building up the farm. so this is why i say it is a fine line to maintain doing it right.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 02:50 PM) Actually the guys doing the picks have done pretty darn well with the pitching lately, but that doesn't make it less than a lottery ticket. i totally agree.... my point is, the overall talent is getting better. it is still a gamble, but with good scouting as the sox have been doing, i can see how they may get a real serviceable player. Corey Zangari, look at this selection and look at how he is tearing it up so far..... great scouting and great selection.
  16. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 01:13 PM) Danks has pitched well the 2nd half of this season considering the way the team has played. With Shark going and the strong possibility of Q or Rodon traded for offense, Danks could actually jump up from 5th to 3rd starter next season. for me, i would like to take baby steps.... i would say #5 to a #4.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 03:24 PM) The draft even agreed with me. Rodon went #3 in a much stronger draft. If he had been out this year, he would have been #1. Fulmer slid to the sox at #7. an excellent way of looking at things. future does look good.
  18. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 04:46 AM) Ya I think Price ends up in CHC. I could care less. I want a couple bats. Heyward and a 3B. and that is where i am waiting for the end of the season. to see who has the top 10. 2nd thing, it all going to depend on what the owner wants to do, meaning $$$$ on the spending.
  19. QUOTE (Saufley @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 12:00 AM) ahhh if .... forget about it. I already have! yeah i figured that will be something you can do well, all the time.
  20. QUOTE (scs787 @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 12:34 AM) Price was traded so there is no comp pick tagged to him damn.... of course, i am stupid. then hell yeah, pick him.
  21. QUOTE (scs787 @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 11:25 PM) Super random pipe dreamish.... I read that David Price is Fulmers mentor. If we can get an offensive haul for Q, would you consider bringing in Price? I wouldn't do it with the said Q hual, with it though? Thoughts? Sale-Price-Rodon-Fulmer with an offensive rehaul from a Q trade could be sexy. in a heart beat. that would be my #1 free agent. but not if the sox pick is not protected. but i would need to be convince why i am wrong.
  22. QUOTE (Saufley @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 12:26 AM) Huh? Really, what's your point? ahhh if .... forget about it.
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 11:16 PM) That doesn't even matter. The Blackhawks and/or the NHL will not let him play while a grand jury investigation is going on. now i am not saying this is wrong, but you are prob right. but i am talking about the law and nothing is going to over ride the law. the nhl would be secondary to the law of the land. but you are correct. this is going to be a huge pr and media productions. they, the nhl official are going to be under the magnifying glass on every step they do.
  24. QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 11:43 PM) i believe this is as right as 9-4. 9. Chicago White Sox 8. Boston Red Sox 7. Detroit Tigers 6. Milwaukee Brewers 5. Oakland Athletics 4. Cincinnati Reds 3. Colorado Rockies 2. Atlanta Braves 1. Philadelphia Phillies something just occurred to me, i look at some different win lost standings and i am not has correct in making this list. any corrections would be appreciated.
  25. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 11:03 PM) At this point, he's not gonna be at training camp in two weeks and he's most likely doubtful for the banner raising October 7. i agree. wouldn't he not be allowed to leave the state until the whole investigation is over???? esp if it mean leaving the usa borders, regulation and restriction are still in play here.
