  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 05:05 PM) Sale has to be referring to the Drake/LaRoche situation in terms of his right to be in the clubhouse... And now Sale's not only saying KW lied or went back on his word, Chris somehow feels his position in the organization as one of the two franchise players allows him to "force" or "push" or limit KW completely in his access to that same domain. While not quite the equivalent of Sculley pushing out Steve Jobs, he's definitely overstepping. This is to the point where Jerry Reinsdorf needs to step in and settle things, like he did with Ozzie and KW. no offense to anyone, but i would look to JR's age and let his pres take care of business or bring in JR's son.
  2. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 05:04 PM) Well at least we know why Sale and Drake got along so well. Sale has the mental stability of a 14 year old. Good lord. The lack of leadership talk from last year is absolutely true. They had nobody to do it. Definitely isn't Chris Sale. more like a mental midget, but that would be offending the small people of the world.
  3. the best course is to totally ignore every media attempt to talk to the sox FO. go totally quiet .
  4. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 04:56 PM) So is Sale looking to get traded now? after the season.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 04:22 PM) Maybe it is ridiculous. But my stance is it doesn't matter. If Hahn and Robing gave their word it was good before he signed, whether it was in the contract or not, the White Sox should be held to their word. That's it . And an article linked from last season about him did state he doesn't have unlimited access that many are assuming. There are certain times he can't be around. 1. the sox live up to their side of the agreement last yr. 2. kw didn't say he never can be in the dugout, only to turn it down. 3. things change that needed to readdress this point. and the major point, other people involvement. they are acting like preschoolers and reporting the he said / she said conversation. this blame is not completely laroche, but the children that is in the dugout who wanted to jump in.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 03:10 PM) Nothing in this whole thing is a crime or anyone doing anything wrong to the other person. That's why this whole thing is so freaking stupid. LaRoche was stubborn for quitting and Sale needs to worry more about not letting the Twins make him look like Jim Parque. and someone should break eaton's thumbs.
  7. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 03:45 PM) Just to throw a bit of humor into the thread... LaRoche = Eddie Harris Rollins= Pedro Cerrano " Up your butt, Jobu" i liiiikkkkkkeeee it.
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 03:42 PM) The more I digest this, another thing that annoys me: -The "players should regulate their own clubhouse" trope. I think this is generally true, but this is a case where it clearly favors LaRoche. Tell a guy to knock off loud music, behavior, bringing girlfriend, they probably can regulate that. But telling a guy to stop bringing his kid around, that everyone seems to like, when you are new? That seems tailor made for a situation where you bring it to another party to deal with, one that won't make it a personal issue but an organization decision. and as a reach, can lead to physical confrontation. nah it is better that management is the bad guy in this equation.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 03:36 PM) Yes. It seems to work that way with money. I'm sure there are more than a dozen players who would like more money, but the Sox can't give them more because they are giving John Danks $15 million. and it also seems at least the majority of players had no problem with this kid. It still hasn't come out that the kid did anything to bother anyone. And I still don't understand the it's OK if he's here 3 days a week. People who are bothered by his being there all the time, will be bothered by his being there 3 days a week. Maybe the Sox should ask guys who have sucked to rip up there contracts and play for less. Things change. Teams and players shouldn't be held to their commitments. Sale's contract is ridiculously team friendly. Things change. The White Sox should rip it up immediately and either give him what he deserves or let him become a free agent. you are flopping around all over the place.
  10. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 03:31 PM) The " boys club " , as I understand it according to Rock, comes from those that do not want to have to watch what they say or how they say it because there is a kid around all the time. This, I agree with. It's a locker room, not a romper room. well said.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 03:25 PM) We can go through this all day again, but a deal is a deal. Ask JR with Horace Grant. Horace made a verbal deal with him and "things changed". JR questioned his character. A deal is a deal, even if it's a bad deal. If Hahn and Robin gave their word, KW needs to honor that, not succumb to the wishes of some guy here on a minor league contract. so as i see it, the deal was honored. he had unfettered access to the sox ST facility. now come the little fine print. was this a 24/7 access??? no one knows this.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 03:13 PM) Of course not, because Drake wouldn't be an issue. I know you know that. this hyperbole of what if he had perform better is useless , it did not happen. so why is everyone bringing it up. deal with the know facts.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 03:04 PM) Im saying that he can say what he wants, but there could be repercussions. Nobody is restricting his right to free speech though excellent post
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 02:59 PM) Where does it stop? If someone you work with says something, is that on you? If Adam LaRoche had a good year last year, I am thinking many opinions would be quite different, and Chris Sale and Adam Eaton wouldn't be stooges, but a brave heroes willing to go up against the almighty KW. I do hope for all those that called LaRoche selfish, if he does change his mind, they will have the courtesy of taking it back. It's funny when Cuddyer retired, many wondered, why not LaRoche. They wanted LaRoche to go away. He goes away, now he's a bad father, selfish, quit on the team....He left and gave the White Sox $13 million. The anger should be happiness. working for the government, there is a clause in harassment in the work place. the guilty parties will be subject to penalty and the person will be responsible for their actions, words, statments and any other form of communicated words via over any kind of social network. 2nd, it doesn't matter if laroche was good or not, this is black and white for me. it is part of the rules of what the boss is entitle to expect from their office.
  15. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 02:55 PM) I agree, it should have stayed in the clubhouse. That's why I worded my last few posts the way I did. I respect Eaton's right to speak his mind on his Twitter account but this issue is really nothing to do with him so in this case, he should STFU. The issue is between LaRoche, KW and the players that may have complained. i know, you are more diplomatic than i. the main quantifier of this whole thing, this was a group of so called boys club and their immaturity and now it might harm the success of the club. just b/c they are so-called adults, per their age says so, they acted like little immature spoiled kids.
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 02:53 PM) Nobody has restricted Eatons right to say anything on Twitter, that doesn't mean a team rep shouldn't tell Eaton that he needs to be a little bit more edited in what he says on Twitter so they don't have to keep putting out these small fires that keep getting set all over the place Citing "free speech!" is wrong you may have a point, but lets say, he needed to have shown more maturity in doing what is his right.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 02:47 PM) Just because he owns the company doesn't mean it is him tweeting. I would bet everything I own it isn't him tweeting. he is guilty by associations. he may not have said it, but he was or did condone someone was doing this in his favor.
  18. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 02:43 PM) Eaton speaking out on his personal Twitter account is about free speech which is why I brought it up. The point is that I respect the fact that Eaton has the right to say what he likes on his Twitter account ( free speech ) but the LaRoche issue is one that should have remained in the clubhouse until LaRoche made his final decision and all the facts were out, which not all the facts are out yet. part of this i agree. what i have a heartburn is, it was a dynamics of the clubhouse and should have stayed there.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 02:38 PM) If anyone thinks this story wouldn't have eventually come out, you are kidding yourselves, and blaming LaRoche is silly. He has been as quiet as anyone. He won't even return Tony Clark's calls. It's better that it came out now than closer to the real games. At least now there is a decent chance it is long gone by the time the games count. i never thought it was coming from laroche per se. but it is others who are taking the mantle and running with it.
  20. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 02:33 PM) Agreed, it is chickens***. I understand that LaRoche has friends throughout Baseball and probably received plenty of phone calls and texts asking why he retired but he should have kept quiet on the matter at least until his "few days" was up and made his final decision. Same for Eaton and his big f***ing social media mouth. I had no problem with Eaton's Oscars outburst but this is a team issue that should have been kept in the locker room until the team resolved the issue. As for Sale. His s*** has been getting old with me since binocular-gate in Detroit. I respect his passion and desire to win but he needs to grow up and learn to control his emotions. If it's true that Hahn and RV were fine with Drake being around so much, the complaints must have been directly to KW which would explain why he came seemingly out of nowhere with asking LaRoche to " dial it back" , which LaRoche supposedly ignored when KW first talked to him about it over a week ago. I think it's great that the Sox allow kids to around the field and the clubhouse but not all the time. For some players, the locker room is a sanctuary away from their families. A place they should be able to speak freely about whatever they want and not have to watch their language or the content of what they talk about because one player has their son around 100% of the time. LaRoche is/was but one player on a 25 player roster. nice post i am with you, i was furious yesterday and posted about my anger and it is still simmering. that little punk in cf and the idiot pitchers are too much. they need to learn to pick their battles, but the sox org was and is in the right. remember this is coming from me has a huge problem with how the sox operated via fa's and assembling a team to compete. but this is all wrong. ref to the family environment. any of the old timers will vouch with what i will say. this is all per JR. when he bought the team, he stated on how he wanted the sox to be a family team friendly like the team he grew up with in the east coast. i want to say ebbits field. this was all JR doing and now many teams have follow this direction.
  21. QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 02:19 PM) This qualifier is completely unnecessary, as this has nothing to do with free speech. agree this was an attempt to undermine the sox FO and everything that the sox was trying to do and accomplish. those players, those was in league with Sale had total disregard for authority of the sox org and a disdain for the fans who has supported the players. if only the sox could get his value back via trade or is not a vital part of this season success.
  22. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 12:45 PM) Players complaining directly to KW makes sense and imo, is one of the missing pieces in the puzzle. If true, I think KW deserves some credit for not coming out and saying which players or how many, which would distinctively divide the clubhouse to some degree. Much better if KW looks like the bad guy than the players that complained. I doubt that the players that complained thought things would escalate to this extent. i totally agree with your post. KW was acting the professional adult, / boss of the org on how he handle the situation. the one who is leaking this crap to the media is a chickenshiite S.O.B...... pure bush league stuff. what is bothering me is this little snippet from the article from yahoo. who is he to tell the boss to get out of the clubhouse. i lost all respect for sale.

    **2016 Films Thread**

i saw Miracles From Heaven last nite, it was a really nice family movie. Jennifer Garner is her usual great self in the movie. i was surprise it was a true story. 4 out of 5 stars for a family movie.
  24. QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 04:16 AM) Except that line of thinking doesn't really have much logic to it. 1. If he just walked away from 13 million because he knew he didn't want to play the game anymore or his body couldn't handle it, everyone would have respected the hell out of him. 2. The Sox came to him with this Drake stuff, not the other way around. He didn't seek this attention out with the Drake stuff. good point.
  25. i am bored some i looked up some of the fav's prospects performance from the weekend and their standsing. understand these are my fav's. Corey Ray - of, climbing and still going strong. too bad he will be drafted by the sox pick at #10. Kyle Lewis - of, still hitting and hitting hrs.... still opening eyes Connor Jones - sp, virginia --- still my fav, at 10 maybe if he is there, undefeated Matt Krook - sp, still doing ok, mid 1st rnd, i still like him, coming back from TJS and pitching ok Daulton Jefferies - sp, --- surprise pitcher for me, doing great, little on the pint size, a very optimistic 6'0'' Braxton Garrett - sp putting up some great numbers my 4th fav player, maybe will there for the comp pick. i doubt it. Zack Collins - cat ---- he is dropping, not b/c of his skills, b/c there are new pitchers making a name for themselves. he has 5 hrs for a short season when the most is at 9hrs right now.
