QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 03:00 PM) Losing 3/5th's of your starting line-up (plus your 6th man) is more difficult than 1/5th, IMO. and it is hard when your key players, whom you are counting on gets hurt,..\ i can see how the FO can suspect it was thibs way of coaching that lead or pave the way for players getting hurt. but not now.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 03:11 PM) Rick Hahn already said they didn't expect it. So have all the beat guys. This isn't some grand conspiracy. I'm not really sure what you are talking about. and in my defense, hahn waited until last week to move on a ajck, while saying they were some what done. so isn't the grand conspiracy per se but the sox knowingly keep things quite, and with the understanding that Avi can handle the dh job if necessary. not spending the money that may be saved.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 02:47 PM) They should have some money to play with. If they can make the team better now, that's less they have to do at the deadline, or may be a reason they have to do something at the deadline. It would be interesting to know what was available and at what price. Acting now may mean you don't have the funds to go after someone later. But a $13 million gift right before the season starts has to be huge to the White Sox, especially if LaRoche's heart and/or body weren't into it. I thought he was a decent bet to bounce back, but if he doesn't........ I know one thing, White Sox fans won't let RH, KW or JR forget they should have some money to play with. ref the bold, i will be in that group. but with the rest, i agree 100%. i can see the sox waiting until the time is right, per hahn opinion to make a trade for a salary dump on the other team. like cincy and or dodgers. also wait for ST to be over when team has players being beaten out from surprise in camp. they will or may want to dump that player as well.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 02:37 PM) Considering the White Sox front office seemed surprised by this decision and were among the people trying to get him to reconsider, I doubt they offered him a buyout to go away. i can see your point but i am in the group of those who is thinking on the skepticism on this idea, of the team not knowing. the only way i may change my opinion if someone in the sox FO or laroche camp admits to it.

QUOTE (Real @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 02:40 PM) will laroche give back a portion of his salary from last year? gtfo. never thought of this that way, but the owners are always looking for a way to improve their image, so offering him some money will be the way to go.

i saw several post of saving money and how it can help in making a trade for some more help. so if i understand this, the sox are saving some money, in order to help fix this team via a trade. in other words adding to the salary b/c now the team salary is 13 mil lighter??? this really doesn't make any sense ..... the team should be looking to fix the team in any way. but i will go along with this thought process.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 02:23 PM) Bob Nightengale ✔ @BNightengale Be interesting to see if #WhiteSox pay Adam LaRoche a portion of salary; The Mets are paying Michael Cuddyer $3.5 million upon retirement. well i have been thinking of a under the table buy out between the sox and laroche. so this stands as a good idea so to speak. since the sox was willing to pay, what 5-8 mil in any trade with laroche going, as a salary help, i am sure they would be paying something.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 04:09 AM) Zach LaVine or TJ Warren if they made the trade, but drafted someone else. Jusuf Nurkic Rodney Hood Nikola Jokic KJ McDaniels Jordan Clarkson Last 3 were available in the 2nd round. thanks.

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 12:41 AM) I do wonder what the mood on here will be like if LaRoche changes his mind you know, that is not even funny, too bad this forum doesn't have a penalty box for bad suggestions.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 12:14 AM) Most likely no.RH DH is probably Avi when he's not in the OF and Melky when he is. He's just not versatile enough playing only 3rd base when Sox have Frazier, Lawrie and Saladino who can all play 3rd and are all right handed like Davidson. that is the key.... avi who will be the dh is also a rh hitter. platoon 2 righties, so if he continues to hit, a pkg build around a couple of rp and davidson for a trade.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 11:57 PM) Rollins on LaRoche "He’s done well for himself...and he said he had enough. Once you get to that point it’s hard to talk a guy out of that." https://twitter.com/ChiTribKane/status/709875838263566336 Rollins (37) on LaRoche:'He was going to give himself a chance. And he's dealing with back issues again, u start weighing those things out' https://twitter.com/CST_soxvan/status/709875702124773380 outside the laroche updates, this is a reason why i really like getting rollins, he is a leader and i really do not know in what context he was speaking, but to me, it is like a team capt talking and saying the right words. nice. ref to laroche, here is to you and your great career.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 06:08 PM) McDermott sucked and then got hurt. Now you are saying Thibs won too many games? Were they trying to win a championship or not? For a guy who tells everyone how wrong they are, reading your fiction time and time again is beyond hysterical. Blaming injuries on Thibs is a joke. They were hurt before he came, they keep getting hurt after he left. You think Gar has to go, but you fell for his Thibs narrative hook, line and sinker. There would have been no reason to fire Thibs if the Bulls did the correct thing and launched Gar instead. The team would be better off. question on mcdermott, has he developed as hope or was this a bad trade that the bulls FO made??? follow up, if this was a bad trade, whom could the have drafted with the 2 picks that they gave up that would be helping now???

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 09:44 PM) Adam LaRoche @e3laroche 5m5 minutes ago Thank u Lord for the game of baseball and for giving me way more than I ever deserved! #FamilyFirst if this is true and he does goes thru with it, this team is getting better .... by the days.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 09:41 PM) I know it's kind of silly but this was my thought. This board is really going to go after Avi this year without LaRoche around. ummm EJ, latos comes to mind.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 08:03 PM) Yeah, their best player being out kind of screws the whole thing up. Thibs coached the Bulls for 5 seasons. The last 4 seasons, Rose played 100 games. I don't think there is a team in the NBA that overcomes their best player not playing that often. and i would like to reiterate most of the opinion on here, even tho it was express in different way, the bulls were still competitive, and as you said, with their main superstar being hurt. the person responsible for that, it was not the FO, it was thibs and how he manage to bring the whole team together. ~~~ edit

QUOTE (Dunt @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 09:36 PM) Maybe it's time to see if Davidson can take advantage of an opportunity? without even earning his chance the first several yrs with the sox minor league???

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 04:29 PM) The Sox will have great chemistry if they come home from Baltimore 17-10. winning really does have that affect on the chemistry and clubhouse good feeling. i am really trying really hard not to get toooooo overly excited on this yr team as assembled.

i feel like an idiot here. this is players who are out of option but not has been release from their ballclub. right???

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 09:02 PM) I like the Morneau idea much more than Bruce. He'd be much cheaper in terms of money and prospects, and he has proven that he can hit in the AL Central. cincy will need to look into doing a salary dump. i will look at that first, play hard ball with cincy. Morneau i keep hearing this, but i am asking, how much of the col factor is in those stats.
-
i am going to be really respectful of laroche and wish him the best, however, i will wait until if is finalized. i guess pride in one self in worth more than $$$ for him.... and that is a great person to do this. now, how does that works against or for the salary cap??? will the owners do anything to address this need??? or are they going to count the money being saved???
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 03:08 PM) Hindsight doesnt change my opinion that the Bulls didnt have a magic crystal ball that could predict what happened to Rose, and allow them to acquire a magic player that could provide the same production hindsight is all we are doing here, and it is here that we are discussing chi bull news and opinions.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) Like who? Who were the Bulls going to sign that is good enough to cover the loss of Rose for basically 3 years? You are operating right now with the hindsight of what happened, GarPax have their faults but being able to predict they were going to lose Rose for that long and have a capable replacement waiting in the ready is just a ridiculous notion or acquire the missing piece thru a trade. barring that....... are we not all working on the premise of hindsight and of opinions, including your????

Abreu helping to set a different tone for White sox.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 02:10 PM) Can it be the regular season now? just what i was thinking and not wanting to mention it. to me, and i really enjoy Abreu, but didn't he say something similar last yr, on leadership?? -
QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 03:39 PM) The Bulls FO rightly saw the writing on the wall. Thibodeau was never going to get out of the east and he was never going to let the team play bad enough to get a good draft pick. That's basketball irrelevance. Thibs would prohibit any rebuild and couldn't take the current squad to the finals, period. The problem is, Hoiberg is not a good coach at the NBA level. For that, Gar deserves to be fired, but stop pretending that the Bulls had no reason to fire Thibodeau. Your talking points are straight out of first take. Throw out silly numbers, do no actual analysis, lose complete sight of the championship and what it takes to win in the NBA. I'm surprised you didn't say "quite frankly" or "let me say this" to solidify the SAS echo chamber you clearly are. if you can see a similar of unfaltering loyalty that the owners have for their management people, even if they are in the wrong, with the way the sox have been run.
