  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 04:10 PM) I'm sure Matt is very aware of both the sample size and ST considerations around numbers - but this is what we have to work with at this point (along with watching the games on stream sometimes). No one sees Davidson getting a job right now. I think Matt was saying he hasn't written off Davidson as a prospect overall, which is different. Frazier's presence means Davidson doesn't have a shot at the 3B job in Chicago (barring injury) for the next couple years, but if he actually manages to improve and look like a prospect again, some other team might see value in him. Eddy Alvarez is who you are thinking of. There will also be reports on AA and AAA guys, as there were in this article. Also, we will have articles from writers who will be live on the back fields as March goes on, so watch for that too. ref bold 1 yeah that is who i would like an update for. ref to all the planned articles,,,,, i didn't know of your plans. i will always enjoy reading what yous guys write. great info. many thanks.
  2. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 04:21 PM) Here is some new video on some of the high school bats: Will Benson: Blake Rutherford: Mickey Moniak: benson, i just can't remember. he does that little hip shake that some old time use to do..... either ny yanks or some major power house hitter in the 70's. dang, i wish i can remember, anyone has any clues???
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 04:34 PM) Update to the math after the Tuesday results... BASELINES Total GOP delegates: 2,472 Party-level delegates - unbound: 168 So, voting-linked delegates: 2,304 50.00001% of 2,304 is rounded to 1,153 Total ending delegates to clinch: 1,237 Delegates to clinch a convention-proof nomination: 1,321 CURRENT STANDINGS - total so far: 1,050 awarded (45.6% of voting-linked total) Trump: 464 Cruz: 363 Rubio: 154 Kasich: 54 --- Carson: 8 Bush: 4 Fiorina: 1 Huckabee: 1 Paul: 1 PERCENT OF REMAINING DELEGATES NEEDED FOR CONV-PROOF MAJORITY (1,254 voting-linked delegates remaining) Trump: 857 delegates (68.3% of total) Cruz: 958 delegates (76.4% of total) Rubio: 1,167 delegates (93.1% of total) Others: mathematically impossible Again assuming none of the 4 drop out (which may not be the case)... 802 of the remaining 1,254 voting-linked delegates are WTA, so 452 proportional. DELEGATE COUNTS PLUS REMAINING PROPORTIONAL USING % WON OF THOSE SO FAR... Trump (applying 44.2% to remaining prop and totalling): 464 + 200 = 664 Cruz (34.6%): 363 + 156 = 519 Rubio (14.7%): 154 + 66 = 220 Kasich (5.1%): 54 + 23 = 77 NEED TO WIN IN WTA STATES TO CLINCH PRIOR TO NOMINATION Trump: Must win 657 of 802 Cruz: Must win 802 of 802 (lol) Everyone else: Mathematically impossible if proportional trends continue Trump and Cruz's level of difficulty haven't changed materially. It's nigh on impossible for Cruz, and truly for everyone else, barring big changes in their proportional performance. Of course, this doesn't obey that Cruz and Kasich are trending up, and Rubio down. But as Trump is basically running flat lately, the general parameters around him remain unchanged. He needs to win most of the big remaining WTA states and big chunks of the smaller ones as well, to win prior to convention. excellent break down
  4. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 02:53 PM) If you want to pay him $25 million a season when he's 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, and 39 years old, then go right ahead. I just think that's a terrible idea that would restrict future payroll flexibility greatly. esp if the sox had a hard time dealing with the current payroll .....
  5. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 01:50 PM) You have to remember that results in the beginning of spring training are skewed especially for hitters because the pitchers are often ML guys working on something or AA/AAA bound players getting a taste of the bigs. It is encouraging though to see a bunch of guys putting up good offensive numbers since the Sox need help on that side. Writer says he does not count out Davidson yet but the Frazier trade probably does. Curious if there seems to be any improvement/emphasis on the defensive side. excellent pov and i agree, esp with davidson, if his offensive games improve, he might make a nice look see next yr or a trade chip. excellent!!!
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 01:10 PM) Well, most of the article is indeed about minor leaguers. Did you mean a minor leaguer actually writing about it? sorry for not explaining this idea. this rpt was great on players vying for a mlb gig, and notable players who are very interesting to keep an eye on. now, how bout those battles and players performances in AA and even some of the AAA players. how they are doing and performing. esp some of the unknowns and maybe a surprise player like an int'l player making a name for themselves. i like to know how the AA player, i can't remember his name but the olympic player playing for the minors. either way many thanks.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 03:20 PM) Well I don't even know how to skate that probably automatically qualifies me as a bandwagoner anyway. In the 90s I followed and rooted for the Hawks, but I was a way, way bigger Bulls fan, probably caused I played basketball like every day and never even laced up a skate. In the early 2000s, I was in Champaign and both teams sucked, so I pretty much ignored both Chicago winter sports. I paid a little more attention again when Toews & Kane showed up. Then in the summer of 08 my buddy convinced me to buy into the hype and get in on season tickets. (at $15/ticket, that was nice). Now 8 years later, I've probably been to like 150 games and only watch the NHL over the Bulls/NBA. Probably a very early bandwagoner that became a fully converted hockey fan. bandwagoner or not, when people goes to a chi blackhawk game, no matter what era, you become hooked. thank god for the new group of players that make the old farts like me, cheer and enjoy the SC's winning moments. nice story. i think this a great idea of those hawks fans on here. what made you become a hawks fans and when??
  8. QUOTE (Tex @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 01:05 PM) Good insight linking McAllen (200 miles away), you also have to look at Laredo and all of northern Mexico. I'd like to know how many fans from Mexico San Diego pulls in. San Antonio does a terrific job supporting the Spurs (hard not to) and the other pro teams that are around. The Rangers are playing a couple games here in a few weeks. Obviously they would need a dome. San Antonio is the seventh largest city in the US. I'd have season tickets from the start. Unfortunately it seems like it would be a NL franchise. you make a very compelling argument on TX esp west Tx will need to be one place. NM, i just don't know and the same goes for Nashville. Mont would be nice, but as some one else posted, can they be counted on, esp for the duration of drawing fans?? vegas, forget about that, another unknown area which i been experiencing is the St of LA. Baton Rouge would be ideal, the people here are fanatical on sports. on fri nite football, standing room and around the fences, same with baseball and college football and lsu baseball..... that is a site to see.
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 7, 2016 -> 10:25 PM) You mean like what you're doing? Tell me, who was your favorite pre-2007-2008 Chicago Blackhawk and what was your favorite moment involving him? oh i like this. mine was Bobby Hull for one of the most exciting time. comes across the blue line and shoots the puck, deflected of the stick and sail into the stands. this is 68 ish. this lady behind us was non - stop b****ing and moaning and she took the puck in the moth. knock her out. the thing is everyone around us clapped .... she left via medical help while her date/husband/boyfriend stayed to watch just one more play and then left. my second fav was the beer vendor who let me and my cuz always cut in front. but i always gave him a 10 tip every single time. i have hundreds of those kind of little stories.... damn now i am really showing my age.
  10. really nice info and great for those who craves sox info, esp from the ST. can anything like that be done from the minor league pov?? i know it is hard work. just asking.
  11. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 04:01 AM) http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2016/03/08/lev...-has-been-busy/ Levine is still mentioning Jay Bruce. Says Cincinnati has been scouting Sox during spring training. Also said Hahn would still like a LHH. i am intrigue, but i am at a lost, who gets move and where. avi - trade or minors melky - trade or dh laroche, - buyout or that fictitious injury that can be a season long/career ending injury. ref to a trade, this can be a salary dump, so ask for their comp pick in the trade.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 6, 2016 -> 12:31 PM) Spotlight was nothing special. It was alright, but it must have been a bad year for movies when that leads the way. well i am sorry you didn't like it, the reason i am responding is i kept on recommending it as a great movie. either way, i really thought it was great in many ways, from story telling, acting, the pace.... but many of a difference of opinions.
  14. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 05:45 AM) George Martin, Beatles producer has died. He was 90. had a great ear for music back then, in the 60's.
  15. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 8, 2016 -> 11:12 PM) How come Trump supporters don't care about his alleged Trumpism? Okay, I made that up. Seriously, Hillary did something wrong and even referred to it in some emails. I agree that there are issues there, but I'm tired of all of the propoganda on both sides. The liberal media this or blah blah blah. At some point, are the parties going to start working with each other to actually solve issues instead of stand on pedestals and spew nonsense. I watched the democratic debate (I don't know if it was live or what, but was on CNN late last night) and I was like, oh, maybe my alternative choice to Trump isn't so great, maybe I'm better to stick to my write-in approach. The pandering on the liberal side is just crazy to me...I honestly can't believe some of the rheteroic just to ensure you get a vote, but than I watch the righties and they clearly do it too...Trump has mastered it with all of his theatrics. Whole thing is disagraceful in my eyes and I'd like to consider myself a pretty open minded and moderate conservative. But there in lies the problem...that doesn't fly in the "conservative" movement anymore. Everyone is on theory and no one is willing to get anything actually done. I hear it all the time from my old man...liberal media wants you to believe...like hell, I might be a sucker, okay, I am like everyone else in this planet, to some extent a sucker, but I can listen to people talk and I come up to my own conclusions (rational or irrational...rational to me, who the hell knows what someone else thinks) but I have never shook my head more at the state of everything. From the left wanting to hand and promise so many things that are impossible to do to the right who wants to veto every single thing that happened in the past 7 years for some principal. I don't give a f*** about what your going to veto, tell me what you are going to fix, tell me you are going to reach across the aisle and accomplish something. The only people who lose on this war on rhetoric is....you guessed it...the people. None of us win in this game between the right and the left. A healthy balance is critical. Makes you want to re-write the constitution to create some form of an amendment to the bill of rights or something that would somehow help / force parties to work together or something. as greg said in a later post, this is an excellent post and all true in you pov. esp the bold, my take is, we the voters had to deal with congress who vehemently hated the current administration, maybe a lot had to do with racialism, my personal opinion. but instead of just arbitrarily veto everything, the politician are to represent us, the people, work to make it better, to improve a system that needs to be fix. this system is better today than 20 yrs ago, 30 yrs ago, but it can be better. there are alot of smart people in america, take advantage of what they can bring to the table. and as greg said, you should send your post national to some media network. great job.
  16. i am coming late to the party. i just saw the snippet of kuger extension. i really think this is an over pay, right along the lines of an over pay to seabs. 3.0 + mil for a 4th line center??? i mean for those who are wearing the blackhawk sunglasses, look at the ### 3.0. for a 4th liner. its like saying masher deserves 2.0 mil for what he does. don't get me wrong, i an a fan of kuger but ......
  17. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Mar 8, 2016 -> 11:39 PM) I see no point in a third Baseball team for the Chicagoland area. The Schaumburg Boomers drew 3,061 per game last year and the stadium holds 7,365. That's less than 50% draw. The Chicagoland Baseball fans are divided between two teams they are fiercly loyal to, so where are the fans for a third team going to come from? Sure, there are some casual Baseball fans around, but are there enough to support a third team? Nope. Also, there's just no room in Schaumburg for another team unless they do away with the Boomers and build a park there. Problem is, is that park sits just south of Irving Park road which would have to be widened from Roselle Rd to the park because it's only two lanes through that stretch and by no means could handle the volume of West bound traffic coming from the east. Not to mention all the construction going on with the Elgin/O'Hare expressway in that area. f*** that, Schaumburg's traffic is bad enough as is. Another thing to consider is who pays for the ballpark? Or should I ask, how much would the tax payers be on the hook for? Schaumburg isn't the cheapest place to live as is and adding another professional sports team will make that even worse. all the points you brought up were the little things i didn't want to think about, the logistical side of any new locations and for my defense, b/c i never really thought it would fly. that highway from the nw to the sw esp with 355 is prime expressway to make it happen though.
  18. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 01:57 AM) ST record is utterly meaningless. Last year, the ST record was bad...but the team and manager seemed bored with ST, so they probably didn't get the benefit out of it they should have. This year, there should be a lot to keep them busy. you know, after thinking hard on this, the bold, i never realize it. you are right, they seems bored and maybe was over confident.
  19. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Mar 8, 2016 -> 09:55 PM) I don't know what you're thinking, but the SW suburbs are White Sox country. No way a third team is added. They wouldn't get support of either league's managers. you are right and there is another part of this that i wrote last nite. however i reread it this morning, i was all over the place so i deleted it, i screwed up big time. but that is the point, the burbs can deal and put up good numbers, esp if the owners will not pony up to fix what is necessary. but again, this is all but a pipe-dream. it will never fly. now lets look at the nhl,, for all of the negative on $$Bill, he was really smart, in the late 60's he made some kind of deal, under that table or not deal, (urban legend) of a no geographical competition deal. so when Lloyd Pettit the long time black hawks announcer brought the Mil Admirals, to turn them into the next NHL team, $$Bill killed that deal. the point is, i think this idea can be done with both the mlb and nba idea. of course it will never happen. just talking.
  20. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 8, 2016 -> 08:33 PM) It's not really feasible or logical to bring three baseball franchises into an already saturated market. There is no room for a third fandom. As it stands, you have 70% Cubs, 30% Sox. I really don't think that it would work out. The Sox make a profit, even though our fans don't show up for games. They must be doing something right in the business department. yeah, they made their profit and paid most of what is owed on a front end of their ownership, plus a great lease and i am sure a nice loan from the bank to cover everything else in the beginning. either way, i was throwing out an idea for discussion. btw, the markets saturation is mostly for the downtown area, but either way. thanks.
  21. QUOTE (hi8is @ Mar 8, 2016 -> 04:14 PM) You sure he isn't acting out in a racist attack against him? sweetttttt
  22. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 8, 2016 -> 04:54 PM) Mat Latos first start Saturday at Cubs. Via the CST_soxvan Twitter. So much for the panic about him. they the sox will not need him in the rotation until the month of may. plus or minus. i say, let him heal.
  23. i know this is pipe-dream, i am doing this for discussion only. there are viable options available and i am saying that chi can support another team, esp in the western and sw suburbs. the scrubs of the northside has been easily able to support their team. esp in the tickets sales to the tune of 2.8 mil per since the sox WS yr. the sox, they could have done the same, if it wasn't for the mismanagement of the FO. the main point is the fans of baseball in the western, sw burbs can do it. esp if that team gets smart business people to run the club, unlike the south side team. now this season will tell the difference with their investment in the ball club. now add a bastelball expansion to that ball club and it can be done.
  24. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 8, 2016 -> 02:28 PM) Feed the beast. geez, let him be, he will screw up big time on his own, he is the perfect ex of a megalomaniac who needs the lime light.
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 7, 2016 -> 07:12 PM) I saw A.J. Puk struggled again. Any of the high-profile college starting pitchers performing well so far? alot of the fav's in the pitching dept took the time off. now they are hurting. not pitching in any of the leagues avail. however, beside Sheffield, Logan Shore - 3 wins, Connor Jones - 3 wins, i really like this guy. another one that is surprising me is Jared Poche' - 2 wins from lsu.... i think one of the first 2 pitchers had a 2 hitter this weekend. i am not following the college games as much as i was last yr. so for my disclaimer, i an only assembling the stats and hearing little snippets .
