QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 03:21 PM) You're blaming the front office for not finding a replacement player on an equal level to 2011 MVP Derrick Rose? no, but there are levels of players whose talent could have help with the sharp bite of loosing Rose and his talent.
-
it all went into the crapper when Rose first got hurt, and this is not hang the whole blame on rose. this is the truth and all the incidentals that goes with it. the frustration, from both sides of management, the FO vs the coaching staff. bottom line, the FO did not do its job. by getting a player who can fill in when rose was hurt. forcing the coach to get creative, and he did. ref to airing the dirty laundry, that is FO and Gar, if i remember correctly. granted when thibs was asked about not getting a player that he needed, he told the reporters to talk to the bosses. still, what else was he suppose to say???? btw, the rumor of Hoiberg coming to chi started several yrs earlier..... by whom??? it is all frustration and finger pointing. Thibs is a great coach, they should have blew up the team 3 or 4 yrs ago, before Noah got hurt. as long as rose contract is hanging around their neck, they were doomed.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 05:07 PM) Yes, Ron Adams. He is now Steve Kerrs assistant many thanks.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 05:06 PM) Yeah, while Hoiberg isn't proving to be a good hire, there was zero way to go into this season with Thibs as this teams coach. That bridge was burned in a manner that would make ISIS step back and go DAYUM! this is me..... but i know, hoiberg can not hold water for thibs in a comparison, but i still think it is too early to grade him . also remember i never did like how the FO screwed thibs.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 04:51 PM) Or just watch basketball. The dude's a genius and innovator when it comes to defense, but his offensive philosophy/abilities were garbage. And frankly his substitution/roster management wasn't very good either. I don't know how many times he'd put in Hinrich over Moore in the 4th as the lead was slipping away. He was too loyal and/or afraid of change. I think the guy's a really good NBA coach. Maybe top 10-15. But with this roster and franchise, it just wasn't working anymore. I still have zero problem with the decision. It was the execution that deserves criticism. didn't thib's have a really good asst who was the offensive coach, while he dealt with the defense?? i may be wrong on this.

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 04:38 PM) If he were the coach you thought he was, he wouldn't be unemployed this year. If he were that good of a coach, the Kings would have already made a move. "Execs" actions speak louder than their words. No top 5 coach would remain unemployed for an entire season. The fact is, they're scared of his awful minute management. Turn off ESPN for a while and use your brain. actually and no offense, but he did mention that since he is paid for 1 more yr as coach from the bulls contract, he is going to take that money and rest. if he would've taken another coaching job, the bulls would have benefited from not paying his last yr of his contract. in my opinion this is the last screw up move to the bulls org, making them pay while he is on vacation.

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 02:16 PM) With the same group of players, the locker room was better and the offense was better. He somehow took a bad offense and made it top ten. Unlike hoiberg, who cannot coach to his players, Thibs created a structured offense for a group that clearly has no improvisational ability. excellent and i totally agree. my post was meant to show something like that, but i couldn't find the words to describe what i meant. nice job. it took many yrs for thibs to develop into what he is. a great coach. however hoiberg can not make that adjustment from college players to nba player right now, who know what will happen in the future. this kind of remind me of that temp coach who really bomb, Krause's friend Tim Floyd.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 02:41 PM) Whatever " it " is, this team seems to have an actual personality now. Last year's team looked lethargic and doped up on valium , but this year's team definitely has more life and energy going on. At this point, the only concerns I have are the last two spots in the rotation but otherwise, this team is pretty solid and should play much better Baseball. Even Avi shows some new life and vigor in his game. very nice..... ref to the pitching, i agree, i like the idea from the beginning of getting and finally signing latos. now, i really want another arm. what is avail still is a simon. they really need to get another pitcher, for the in case situation.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 01:27 PM) No. I bet the front office would be fine using Jackson, Eaton, Cabrera and Garcia between outfield and DH. And with no days off the first week of the season, I bet they'd break camp with an 8th reliever if someone needed to start the year on the dl making a move for a bench bat when needed. i think laroche will be better than morneau. but the other reason will be $$$$ the management will not pony up for anymore expensive players, not with danks, and laroche on the payroll.

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 01:21 PM) “We never did recover.’’ and that is why i would advice caution and to tempered their enthusiasm.... in other words do not become over confident. at least until mid june.

QUOTE (reiks12 @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 02:37 AM) Very worried about our 4 and 5. Hopefully Danks and Co. can get back on track and not destroy our bullpen. same here about Danks. who else does the sox have that can be hopefully counted on, that is on the team now... EJ eh no.....

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 12, 2016 -> 04:20 PM) As a head coach, he kinda did. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 12, 2016 -> 04:28 PM) Yea, Thibs took his first team to the ECF. He was pretty much a good coach overnight well as a head coach yes he was and did have that 1st yr success. but he had yrs of tenure as an asst coach in the NBA, from 1989 - 2010. so he had developed as a nba future head coach.

QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 12, 2016 -> 05:01 AM) At this point, I don't know who they will be ready for on any given night. They should have been ready tonight to be honest. But again, for anyone that watches this team on a consistent basis, it's very easy to see when they just don't seem that interested in that nights game. Which goes back to my point I've been saying all season, the regular season results are almost meaningless. Bowman and Q have stuck to a very simple formula the last few years that have worked. The 1st half is to see what type of team this is and mix and match line combo's to see what works. Usually 1-2 guys you thought were going to make an impact don't show up (Dano comes to mind right now). Stan looks at the squad and makes adjustments. The 2nd half is to work those new guys in, and keep guys fresh for what is usually a long playoff run. Capture a decent seed for the playoffs, and take your chances. I'd be a little worried with this team if this was the 1st time we've seen this happen. I'm not because this happens literally every year with this team. this is an excellent analyzes ..... i never really thought of it in those terms. i have always maintain that the this part of the season is where the coach start putting emphasis on the lines becoming one is the same sync ... so to speak.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 12, 2016 -> 12:38 PM) Yeah now all of a sudden injuries are an excuse not just for not winning championships, but for not making the playoffs. Thibs time was up yet he had the same injury problems Hoiberg has had. Noah, Rose, Taj, Bulter missed 15 games 2 years ago and 17 last year. He has missed 13 so far this season. If you hold them to the same standard, Hoiberg can't hold Thibs' dry erase, and should be shown the door. Now, I don't think it was fair to blame Thins at all for not being able to beat LeBron, so I won't blame Hoiberg for a roster full of guys that are going to be hurt a lot. But there is no question there was a pretty big downgrade at the head coaching position. That has to cost somebody. if i remember correctly, i like many others didn't like the move of how hoiberg became head coach of the bulls. but in his defense, thibs did not become the coach he became overnite.

QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 11:24 PM) It's mutually beneficial for both parties. And while I don't know every detail, since he has been on LTIR since 2011, I assume at some point the team could have gone to the league or NHLPA to discuss not paying him since he has been injured for 5+ years, but again the team is happy he is on LTIR and the avoidance of the cap hit. there was something about how it does work in a way with a salary cap something like the beginning of the season, the money, all money is counted on the salary cap, then the injured players etc.... are counted off the cap .... i hope i am saying this right. i am also hoping i am getting the whole info right.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 11:08 PM) Money? Maybe I'm wrong, but don't guys on LTIR still get paid? If you retire, you walk away from your contract. yes but it is not affecting the salary cap. same thing as a player who was on a 1 month IR .... example Kuger.
-
QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 10:29 PM) Then why wouldn't he just retire? Because exactly what we are talking about. It's circumventing the cap penalties. the thing is, my info is not as complete as with a lawyers slant. in the retirement, which i asked about bickell and how that contract will be affected. i can't remember who, but it was said that the team would still incur the salary cap hit. this is a hard salary cap, no way to circumvent the gray areas. but the loop hole now being use is the LTIR. even then, wasn't there a discussion and some action on that??? am with those who stated that hossa contract and players in that situation, should have been grandfather in.
-
QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 10:05 PM) The only issue with that article is he if incorrect about "faking" an injury. He cities Chris Pronger in his article, but that's exactly what Philly has done with Chris. but in all likelihood chris was severely hurt and is probably using the LTIR clause, right?? what happens, esp in the salary cap era, when a team buys out the player and contract??? btw that is a nice article on that subject.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) Disagreed. I took many a friend to Hawks games in the late 90s and early 00s and they were bored out of their minds watching a bad team in an empty arena lose 3-0. I was unable to get any of them hooked. dang it, i really forgot about the era.... but for my excuse, i gave up my hockey tickets, but not my sox tickets nor bulls. i was going back and forth to my work and home.

QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 05:58 PM) Really nice offseason by Hahn, especially considering the (relative) budget constraints. I wish that Hahn could've gotten an outfielder to sign a two- or three-year deal, as the Sox will need at least one more after this season (Avi is more of a DH than a position player). But it seems that many of them are intent on hitting free agency and cashing in next winter, so I guess you take what you can get. I don't think that any of the big-name outfielders were good fits for the Sox. Upton wanted well over $100M and the Sox don't offer those contracts. Cespedes obviously wanted as much money as possible this season and wanted to bolt for free agency next year. Same for Fowler. Gordon wanted to stay in KC (can't blame him, either). Heyward was their only realistic fit, given that his contract is not guaranteed for its duration. But he had his pick of teams and the Sox aren't exactly high on the list of most free agents right now. I'm not liking the idea of Avi being on the 25-man roster in April, though. I get that LaRoche could really use a platoon partner, but I'd much rather that Avi get as many at-bats as possible, and Charlotte is the best place for that. He has little-to-no defensive value and needs to learn to stop chasing junk out of the zone. So, unless LaRoche is injured/unproductive again or Eaton is forced to DH while his shoulder is on the mend, I'd prefer that Avi work on his swing (and defense) in AAA until September. welcome aboard!!!! for me, hahn didn't do crap, not until he gets at least 2 comp picks for the up coming draft in the first rn.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 07:01 PM) Oh boy. it is bout time to get a 2nd opinion. edit~~ what will the bulls do if Andrews comes back and with xrays, say something bad. i wonder what the bulls will do ummmm

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 05:31 PM) Maybe I'm looking too far into this but with the way the Sox are handling Latos it sounds as though he is penciled into the rotation with Sale, Q and Rodon, leaving Turner/ EJ/ Danks to battle for the 5th spot. that will be an intriguing possibility .....

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 03:47 AM) http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/white-...djustments-side Looks like they are working on mechanics. Also said in article that his knee is healthy again. to me that is all fine and dandy as long as he is ready come May.
