QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 02:36 PM) Acting all victimized? He made one statement and walked away. You don't like LaRoche the player, so now you are just making things up. He has been one of the most quiet about this entire thing than anyone. if that was all to it, with all due respect, but lets do a timeline 1 . for whatever reason management came to him in a respected way to tone it back 2. al did not do it, (did he tell any of his teammates?) 3. al had his son on the pitching mound 4. management got even angrier and they had words. 5. al made a statement in which he stated something like he need to think of his future 6. management tried to talk to to no avail 7. sox clubhouse and some players voiced their support. 8. al retired. 9. clubhouse and kw incident. 10. al letter to explain his side or something to that effect. 11. clubhouse became incensed 12. owner came in to pacify things. now some where in there both side could have chg and stop the mess. tell me where??? hint #1.

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 02:31 PM) It's still the first retirement announcement I've ever seen where the player didn't thank the fans damn you are right. i never thought of that until now. i wonder if anyone realize that. now if this been said before, i wonder where i was???
-
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 02:09 PM) He's not one of the biggest assholes of all time because he retired, he's one of the biggest assholes of all time because of the mess he stirred up in the process of retiring. a classy guy would have said in a letter, to all his friends on the sox team, do not let his retiring affect in any way harsh feeling toward management, but to wish him and his family good tidings. now something like that would have endeared him to many.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 23, 2016 -> 08:22 PM) I just wonder what exactly they are "monitoring". I suppose it all has to do with whether or not LaRoche wants to file a grievance. if it is anything pertaining to laroche, i would guess the reaction from management toward sale and eaton and how they are being dealt with. this might hamper, maybe in the way they are, if it happens, being traded.

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 01:46 PM) Oh I'll give someone their just due faster than Grant took Richmond, Dick Allen - believe you, me! Now it's true, it's quite difficult for me to come up with a compliment for the 'ol bloke as it relates to his results as owner of the Chicago White Sox baseball franchise. You know, that whole "his teams have only made it to the postseason in 5 of the 35 years he's been at the helm" business? Remember all of that? Hard to find a compliment to hand over to him based on that abysmal track record. However, as far as I can tell, he does seem to be a good husband & father, and from all accounts appears to be generous when contributing to charity. And when it comes to cigar smoking, I defy you to find a more expert chomper on a cigar than he. In fact, while I can't prove it, I'll bet he has exquisite taste in cigars, and that is a noteworthy quality for anyone to have! with ref to JR, there are 2 JR's here. JR the sports fan and JR the business owner. the 2 shall never meet, no matter what anyone wants to thinks or come up with an excuse for him, and i will stand by that with the shear luck of the WS win. he first priority will always be business and his image in the community perception is the biggest part of his persona. ref to sports, well i will not talk about that. b/c no one knows the true side of this.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 01:17 AM) Def agree with that. I also agree that Adam Eaton needs to pull his f***ing head out of his ass and produce on the field in April this year or or he's going to go from fan fav to fan target, if he hasn't already. His awful start last year was a big part of the overall slow start and it took him what, until mid August to get his slash line back to respectable? Eaton is a good player (most of the time) but this incident is bringing back his D-Backs past right to the forefront again. He does not seem to be a good team player when things aren't going his way. Anybody can be content during the good times. excellent conclusive analysis of this. you know, he has made himself the main focus and sale as an incidental person in this fiasco.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 23, 2016 -> 01:56 PM) Zangari could be 2019, or later even. But Zangari's hit tool is far more advanced than Michalczewski's was when he started as a pro. And as a 1B there is less concern about extra time for his defense. My personal view is, he's likely to make big leaps in 2016 and 2017, to be reading sometime in 2018, most likely. Just my view of it, others probably feel differently. I wouldn't begrudge anyone saying 2019 or even 2020. really enjoy the new appch.... i really like it. can't wait for the others to see where they will be projected to move into that list. great job guys

QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Mar 23, 2016 -> 04:47 AM) ^^^^^^^^^^^^ C'mon guys did you actually think this post was serious? It was written in a serious tone, but to be funny/sarcastic. It is so ridiculous that I thought that people would see the implied joke. There is no rational thought in there. I was venting my frustration about KW still being here, and I can't stand the guy and it would be such a White Sox thing to do, to trade their ace over these shenanigans. I have a little Sox PTSD, because almost every move that they have made since 2010 has backfired horribly. Just wanted to clear that up with everyone. Here's to a successful 2016 season for me, i had my own opinions and have always reacted my opinion way. but this whole thing from those who are doing some sort of a revolt, those actions plain and simply ridiculous and show their maturity level. this action i can expects from a pampered child, esp if they are doing something as silly as they may think as a smart thing. revenge at whatever level, esp in what they are trying to accomplish, is showing a lack of maturity and common sense in any attempt to justify their actions. now, this season is am important one, i can see and hope for many good performance from all... but what if......
-
i waited a while to make this post. but I LOVE THIS MOVE....... again, the owners group has gone outside the norm and did something right.

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 23, 2016 -> 01:14 AM) If Eaton is growing out his beard as some type of silent protest about LaRoche, that would be extremely douchey. oh crap, you mean mr. social media is growing a beard. he is really a annoying really classy guy.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 23, 2016 -> 12:58 AM) I'm not impressed with our 4th or 5th starters, let alone our 6th starter. Danks & Latos scare me and I've been pretty vocal that I don't buy Turner as a legit option as a #5 of a contender. I was hoping Johnson would be good and unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case (as I thought he was actually the best of the overall vote). Depth is good but if all of the depth is bad, well...than what do you do. That said, it is still spring and Latos is still working his way back. Of all the people, despite stinking last year, he has shown quite a bit of recent success so you can hope for a turnaround. as some have said, there are some ST time, but i am with you on the concerns. i really wish that the owners group weren't soooo freaking cheap and picked up a another sp.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Mar 23, 2016 -> 12:37 AM) One thing I have noticed this spring...I absolutely LOVE what Jimmy Rollins brings to this team! Not only what he's done at the plate so far...but just his presence on the field. You can tell he's the QB on the infield by a long shot. Miss a cut off or throw to the wrong base...he'll let whoever the culprit is know about it an what's expected. when the sox signed rollins, i had hope he defense on the field would be his usual self, which by all accounts it is. i just question if he had anything left in the bat. so far i love being wrong on my concerns. i wouldn't even go the the leadership thingy, well b/c i thought the sox had enuf..... boy was i wrong on that. i am sooo glad on what he brings to the game for the sox.

QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 07:39 PM) Bernie Pleskoff @BerniePleskoff 2m2 minutes ago Heard it in the press box: #Athletics on the prowl to move some older players and are looking for middle infielders. there are 3 players, 1 or whom can work nicely with the sox in getting. i guess i am with the reddick camp. either way, i can trust the sox and hahn offering a nice pkg without sacrificing alot to get him or coghlan or even valencia... but this is on me ...

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 07:06 PM) My sister lived very hard for a very long time and died at 35 because of it. I did what I could to try to help her get out of it, but when she refused, I refused to allow my kids to become close to their aunt because I knew she wouldn't be around much longer. i really understand your point. believe me, as i have said, my past is my doing and was very rough. i couldn't care 2 cents on anyone. but this change for me, esp as i got older and i started to feel a little humanity..... i respect your pov, but i will not share it. if i choose to feel for my human beings as neighbors. i know what i am opening up, esp in my heart. but don't let this sappy part of me fool anyone, i will still stand tall and hold my head high. it maybe a little arthritic. peace.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 02:08 PM) The Week Three stock report, going over the hot and cold players that are either vying for a roster slot or are prospects trying to up their value in big camp. nice article and a really nice appch. too bad for carroll, i like him as the underdog player. what gets me is i didn't know c. sanchez is only 23 yrs old.
-
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 12:12 PM) Call me cold-hearted, but I don't find stories about people who kill themselves with drugs to be heart-wrenching. the writer wrote a very touching story. he leaves a widow. i am wondering if there was despair there. many things affected me and can affect me. i understand your point and maybe i had even a colder heart than yours, but getting freaking older, you start looking at things differently.

QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 05:27 AM) Nice article on Tommy. We didn't get a chance to get any exposure to him, but that article did a good job. Sounds like he was a great person. So sad. what a heart wrenching story. RIP Tommy.

crap, even the northsiders are making positive news at the expense of the sox. http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/joe-ma...id=ansmsnnews11

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 02:36 AM) I really hope that Frazier or Rollins or Abreu admits to complaining and then tells Sale and Eaton to their faces to go f*** themselves. whom ever did tell the sox management, i hope they don't tell; to those who are doing the witch hunt, fvvck them. the main boss gave the edict and it should be over. plain and simple. the main boss came at the players request, esp when he didn't have too, to pacify a couple pampered biitches ... f*** those who are conducting the witch hunt.

any further updates on anderson playing ???
-
QUOTE (Wanne @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 12:32 AM) There were some ridiculously great defensive plays in this game today. Abreu made some outstanding plays...probably at least 3 great snags. Frazier made a great play. Austin Jackson with an outstanding grab at the wall. Sands with a circus catch. Sanchez made a couple...one really great play. Jacob May's catch was just sick. Just a very impressive day throwing the leather around today for the Sox. that has been the top 2 good news coming from ST since the sox signed A. Jax. 1. being Danks performance the other day.
-
QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 01:25 AM) If we truly believe Sale's comments that he is the utmost respect for Robin, Rick, and Jerry, this shouldn't be an issue moving forward. then this calls into question 2 things... 1. is the article wrong or embellishing it?? if not 2. who is doing this so-call witch hunt???
-
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 12:15 AM) I am almost certain I read that after a certain amount of years the pick turns into a 2nd round pick but I can't remember if that is true, this sucks.
-
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 12:53 AM) Is it the last year to get that pick as well? so they will that pick ??

QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 12:01 AM) That sort of response would be the same to Williams apparently flipping out on LaRoche and telling Drake is done, only to pull back on the ruling after he calmed down. This will all be over by the time ST is over, you aren't trading two of your best players because of it. How would that go over in the clubhouse? here is my infamous "what if" that i hate playing. but what if easton and sale does not let it go by the beginning of the season .... what then??? this go to the union??? disciplinary actions???
