  1. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 5, 2016 -> 11:10 AM) Nice road win you bet.... now i just gotsss to tempered my enthusiasm and and my ambitious outlook.
  2. well i left when JA had that great at bat .... what was it, 13+ pitches??? too bad he later pop-up to rf. this is a great start. i do not care it is only 1 game, but it all the positive thing i am seeing. a great start.,
  3. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 11:18 PM) Those are some crazy plate discipline numbers. Without knowing how those numbers would translate in the MLB, I'd stick with Carlos Sanchez who is younger, cheaper and has already faced MLB competition. last yr, when there was talk of him coming out or basically disappearing, the sox really didn't have the options that has been establish. the question is, can he still play the infield or will he be looking for another position, as many players have done. with any team in the mlb, he will be an enticing player that will be able to put up some statistical numbers. where he will be playing, well he will still be doing a basic showroom kind of display. the sox will be there. however i still like the idea. only time will tell.
  4. according to mlb trade rumors, he is finally declared a FA. this is one player i was talking up last yr, before he was caught by Cuba officials. i really hope he can be signed..... http://www.baseball-reference.com/register...id=fernan018jos
  5. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 12:02 PM) I was gona ask if that was even possible. Skipping AAA and going straight to the majors there was a time that the sox expected the pitchers they picked in the draft to have been fast track, that is why they chose college advance arms and still do. in the later rounds they went after prep if it was warranted. now for my disclaimer ... i think i am right on that.
  6. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 06:28 PM) That last line should actually read 90 or more games because there's one year where they won exactly 90 games. Anyway, having looked up the records it's amazing how many years the Sox didn't make the playoffs simply because the Yankees were better. Of course that streak of winning seasons stopped right around the time they added the East/West divisions to each league. The Sox have never taken advantage of MLB adding to the number teams that can make it to the playoffs. They've never won the WC and even with a second WC now added, they still haven't managed it. i still keep harping on the 90-93, including the 93 season. man what a team, if only the sox would have gone out and gotten another key player, esp at pitching. dang.....
  7. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 08:51 PM) If he is, Bulls fan better f***ing riot. no offense, but JR doesn't bow down to fans and media.... look at KW, looke RV and the sox.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 08:44 PM) Coach Hoiberg. oh, i thought it might have been gar or rose. was that the comment he made back around xmas of the coach being too soft???
  9. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 07:14 PM) Jimmy called out their golden boy. I bet GarPax flipped their wigs on that one. They'll probably do everything they can to try and move him in the offseason. i feel stupid here but who is their golden boy???
  10. QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 03:09 PM) i am not going to deny that the sox should have some really outstanding moments for the opening day game. but for one that i was there, was in the April 9, 1993, the moment is classic and which i think endeared him to the chi .... fans, and media alike. 6th inning and some really reclamation project went in the pitch hit. his name is Bo Jackson and he took the ball yard, over the yanks and won the game. that moment was the BEST for me. dang, i was wrong on the sox winning. then witch game was it where bo came off the bench and did the same thing, and they showed the excitement in the dugout. it even showed T. Rainse intimating how Bo ran the bases in the big screen.
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 02:52 PM) Revolutionary War music, streakers, a no-hitter and Mark Buehrle's magic. The Sox have had some interesting Opening Days. http://www.chicagonow.com/soxnet/2016/04/g...te-sox-history/ i am not going to deny that the sox should have some really outstanding moments for the opening day game. but for one that i was there, was in the April 9, 1993, the moment is classic and which i think endeared him to the chi .... fans, and media alike. 6th inning and some really reclamation project went in the pitch hit. his name is Bo Jackson and he took the ball yard, over the yanks and won the game. that moment was the BEST for me.
  12. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 02:32 PM) That's the rub, but he did well in the Cape Cod League against top competition. the cape talent is still not as good as elite comp in the ncaa tourney and way below that of class A. his number as of thurs of last week is impressive. that is why i really can't judge it. rhetorical question, am i thinking too much in this...... prob.
  13. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 12:43 PM) The Bull aren't playing for a draft pick. They're still playing for a playoff spot.... well i can see that they would like to gain a playoff spot, and for my opinion is they, the bulls need to show justification of this mess with the coaching staff and such. however the quality of this yr draft, not wit standing, there is some difference in the positional players at 10/11 who can help th bulls more than a player selected at 16-20. i do not care if the bulls will not acknowledge that they do need to rebuild, getting a better draft pick will help.
  14. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 02:03 PM) Kyle Lewis is becoming my top choice at No. 11, but who knows if he will be available then. Beyond the insane power numbers (12 HRs in 108 ABs) and great average (.426), he has walked 33 times compared to 17 strikeouts. Love that type of plate control and discipline. and here is where i am at a dilemma, i see his stats and the hype, but on the other hand, the level of comp is not what is considered top notch. i just don't know.
  15. this is me, but dang it, the bulls won yesterday. do they want a good draft pick or what???

    **2016 Films Thread**

has anyone seen the movie "the letters" it was a very touching movie. Juliet Stevenson as Mother Teresa was a great performance.
  17. QUOTE (MDWhiteSoxFan @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 12:05 AM) Don't hate this move being it's a minor league deal. Nothing to actually hate i hope this is the answer for getting him instead of someone else. unless it is a reclamation project. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 01:16 AM) Gonzalez's lost velocity is concerning this is concerning me when it was announce of his pending release.
  18. http://www.gainesville.com/article/2016040...-from-Texas-A-M fla has a nice looking team, esp with peter alonso and JJ Schwarz leading the way hitting wise. alonso, projected to be selected in the late 2nd round. for this yr draft. he is a switch thrower when on the mound pitching. this is one of the guys i am hoping the sox can select in the 2nd round. but he might rise to the comp round. ref puk, a month ago, he only last 2 innings and having a horrid game. all the hype for him is really failing,.
  19. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 12:35 AM) Agree and with a bunch of new faces that should be a positive. and for me, with those new faces comes additional leadership and with a renew outlook ......
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 12:46 PM) The White Sox must have done something right this offseason if the complainers are down to Ishikawa and Flowers not being on the team. I really don't understand why a bad spring means players are now horrid, but all a good one does is means players are what they were. If you go by this spring meaning Latos will soon be released and Avial is horrible, wouldn't that also mean Avi may be a HOFer, and Saladino is on track to perhaps be the greatest White Sox SS of all time? nice post. my take on this, this off season is the best i have seen, with ref to assembling a team of good potential. is it perfect, nope, but with what the sox have done in the past, it is near perfect as a fan can hope. i really like the potential of this team. it is what it is, and now i am going to hope for a great yr.
  21. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Apr 2, 2016 -> 03:43 AM) UPDATED Mock (It's come to my attention Hansen is having injury concerns and Thaiss is shooting up lists) 1.10. Connor Jones, RHP, UVA 1.26. Matt Thaiss, C, UVA 2.49. Ryan Boldt, OF, Nebraska 3.86. Ian Hamilton, RHP, Washington (Still love Hansen as a prospect, if Sox take Thaiss at #10, I'd love him at #26 if available) both the 1 and comp pick, i really like. the one thing at #10, jones can really fly into the majors really quick, thing is, where is he projected to be in the rotation, a #3 or 4 or 5 kind of a sp??? but next yr, the sox still may be, after the fa leaves, shy 1 sp??? so that is why i am still looking on krook yr....
  22. well here is a couple of esp of what i found to be an extremely funny late night tv host. but remember, i do not watch tv except for sports ..... but i was given this name to you tube him.... very funny dude. james corden.
  23. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 04:17 PM) ^^^ That's really all that needs to be said. Casual fans for the most part couldn't care less WHO is on the team or what slogan the marketing department comes up with or which players are on the TV and radio commercials. i am sorry, i thought winning was understood. don't get me wrong, this team is a great assembly of players who can make a difference. if only.....
  24. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 04:54 PM) Almost spit coffee all over my computer there. The real reason Sandoval has been benched is that he has developed his own gravitational pull, and they fear that the short stop could be pulled out of position during critical plays. scientifically speaking, not bad at all. this reminds me of the steve martin movie Roxanne ..... i love that movie.
  25. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 04:06 PM) Sandoval's father was the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and his mother a Teletubby. Sandoval wears a pool cover for a raincoat. Sandoval's scale weight looks like a phone number that ends with ' to be continued '. Sandoval ate Old Country Buffet out of business in one sitting. Eminor's avatar is actually a portrait of Sandoval smiling. absolute classics...... way to go.
