  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 9, 2016 -> 12:56 AM) I like Fulmer a lot but he needs a lot of work still. No reason to rush him i totally agree, fulmer needs innings, to hone in his skills, and any other instructions that the coaches would like to see. eta, next st will be the time to re-evaluate at him.
  2. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Apr 9, 2016 -> 04:38 AM) I'll go off the radar with ... Brian Clark. seems to throws strikes and get outs. I can see him making his way to the bullpen by the middle of the season. always room for a quality lefty. i read up on him, b/c you mention him. he is an interesting prospect, much more of a prospect than i org thought. i would like to keep an eye on him this season. many thanks.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 9, 2016 -> 07:22 AM) I was hoping Robin was going to use the entire roster a lot. No way Rollins should be the "everyday" shortstop. In a 4-game series he should play twice. In a three game series, OK, two times. Give him some time off. Until Sox acquired Rollins it was going to be Saladino over there all year. See if Saladino can produce. Give Rollins more at bats but not more than 450. while it is a sound idea, but seriously, it is an unrealistic idea, there are some real reasons on why it is a bad idea, 1. this team needs to start off quickly 2. rollins has proven to be productive and even in spring training 3. leadership on the fileld, he contributes there. 4. finally, you play the hot hand.
  4. b/c of the age, i would have thought Guerrero-sp would have been chosen esp over trey.
  5. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 09:47 PM) Gar is a huge ass. I wish Shirley never took down the article on him. Basically a weasel who will do whatever it is to get ahead, but he knows how to kiss the babies. Bulls actually have just an OK drafting record since Gar was given a prominent voice in the FO. After Matt Lloyd left, it's been over with though. I don't want Gar or any other New Mexico or Iowa cronies in this organization any further. And I want Paxson gone if he can't handle the media and day to day with drafting. As for Hoiberg, I don't think he's an NBA level coach and his only experience in a FO is for that of a failed FO that was terrible. No thanks. Here are some Gar highlights for drafting. Paxson wanted LaMarcus Aldridge, Gar heavily pushed for Tyrus Thomas. Was so giddy about him, he convinced the whole FO including Jerry, Tyrus was thee guy. Bulls picked LMA, then traded him for Tyrus. Picked James Johnson over Jeff Teague, Ty Lawson and Jrue Holiday. Lloyd had advised into drafting Taj Gibson, DeMarre Carroll or DeJuan Blair. Pax gave Gar the Johnson pick and in turn he took Taj for the 2nd pick. 2010 they avoided their pick to attract big FA. Gar's idea. I'll give him props for that because it was the right move. 2011 Jimmy Butler - Last pick evaluated by Matt Lloyd before he was let go to the Orlando Magic. Gar went with it. Good pick. 2012 Marquis Teague - This is the move Ron Adams was let go over. Adams and Thibs savored over Draymond Green. When he was there with their pick, they both were giddy. For those two, it was either Green or Crowder. They loved Butler, and they had Deng, so they felt Green was by far the target. They were led to believe that was the case with the FO as well. Going into the draft, they felt everyone was on the same page. Once it came to their pick, Gar wanted Teague. Gar and the Bulls really didn't scout Teague at all. I don't even remember them bringing him in for a workout. Thibs argued this would be a big mistake. Ron Adams got loud over it and started telling Gar this was a stupid move. Once Gar called it in, Adams erupted because Gar wasn't trying to help build a team together, didn't care about system, he just wanted to be right. At this point in time, Thibs and Adams felt Gar was truly becoming an asshole and when they saw his cards. Gar told Adams if he didn't like it, too bad. It's my way or the highway. Adams was let go, Thibs became super pissed and the rift that tore Thibs and the Bulls apart became a tear here. 2013 Tony Snell - Another Gar pick. Thibs after the previous year, honestly stopped caring about giving his opinion on it. He wanted Dieng, but he pretty much was indifferent because of what transpired over the past year. Paxson wanted Dieng or Plumlee. Snell was drafted because of his connections with New Mexico. 2014 Doug McDermott - It hasn't worked out. I won't put the pick on Gar. There were others that I liked, but I did love McDermott coming out. Paxson and Thibs did too. Giving up those picks though, wasn't a bright idea. 2015 Bobby Portis - Incomplete. Shows flashes of being competent and could be a rotation player, but he's not a starter and leaves a lot to be desired. And as far as Hinkie, the 2014 draft was 3 stud players and everyone else fell in line. Embiid, even with the injury issues was the best player by far at that position and the only reason he fell to 3 was because Cleveland was scared off of the injury issues. Prior, they had him #1 on the board. Milwaukee always wanted someone they could sell to the franchise so it was going to be Wiggins or Parker. excellent narrative and very complete. this must have took you some time to do. it is appreciated.
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 06:16 PM) I didn't say he was a master roster creator or a great GM. I think he's a lousy GM. We could all get pissed about not drafting Draymond Greene but in general, I think we have drafted pretty well under Gar & Pax. Basically put, it isn't bad drafting for why we are in the position we are in. It is bad roster creation and a complete inability to work with others and just in general be a prick. He has an inability to make trades and roll the dice with guys and truly create a great team (albeit injuries early can absolve him a bit, his recent stubbornness can not be ignored). so in the other article i pasted on the other admin post, the same about gar and about the same for hinkie. this is where my doubt comes in, there is the same talked being said about each in different articles. .... better yet, let me correct myself, it was said about hinkie. the talk about gar is what is being said here.
  7. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 05:32 PM) They first brought in Jerry and now they are bringing in Bryan. All of this has been executed by Jerry and I believe that is who Ninetrain was referencing. he was initially brought in as a consultant and he has taken a much stronger role and strong voice and pushed Hinkie out. I don't disagree with Hinkie's overall philosophy to maximize picks, etc, but who they drafted left plenty to be desired and didn't fit from a roster construction perspective and I haven't seen him make subsequent trades to make it work either. It is one thing to get the picks and come up with the strategy, but you still have to actually make good picks. And Bryan has a history of being a pretty good talent evaluator. Good track record from Phoenix to Toronto. when i reading up on hinkie, i was reminded so much on gar forman. while catching up on gar, i forgot he was an asst to floyd. that should have meant something at the time and no-one caught it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gar_Forman but the question i wanted to ask, is hinkie any better than gar??? i just don't know enuf of this to come up with an answer.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 05:29 PM) They are bringing in Bryan to be GM, not Jerry. Jerry is president of Basketball ops. Nepotism And I disagree that Hinkie drafted BPA with Embiid. his injury issues weren't a secret and everything people said has come home to roost i will really be honest, i am not up to date on all the basketball that many a posters here exhibit. so i went to read up on him. here is a nice article on him http://www.sbnation.com/2016/4/7/11383474/...er-smartest-man i really got a hard question, but i am going ask it after the next post.
  9. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 02:18 PM) One of the things I thought was interesting for these opening days was, there are guys I was pretty sure were just org bench players who got starts: --OF Hunter Jones not only starter for W-S, he led off. --Gerson Montilla started at 3B, and batted third for them as well - in place of Ryan Leonards --Louis Silverio, who has never played as a starter in the minors, started in LF over Landon Lassiter (who is a prospect, albeit a marginal one) --Josh Richmond and Marcus Lemon both started for BHAM, leaving Keenyn Walker on the bench (well, maybe Walker really has fallen that far) May not mean anything. Richmond hasn't played since 2014 so they may just have wanted to get him rolling. Maybe other guys are banged up a bit. But it will be interesting to watch the next few days. very interesting, i never had the opportunity or maybe i never wanted to, but i really never was that hype on the system outside the top prospects. you little post is a great, rude awakening of other posters who are not looking and believing in the hype the org spouts.
  10. this is going to be one freaking tough playoff this yr. time to make prayers to the hockey gods for good fortunes.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 01:08 PM) DRose is going to workout hard this summer. Contract time. i really don't think that will not really help. all the other nba org has to do is count up how many games he has played in the last 4yr and compare that to his yearly salary earned. that is why i posted a couple of weeks ago, the bulls should find a way to trade him for anything, even if the bulls will need to eat salary. as i also mention, the bulls really need to rebuild. edit.... oops edit the post.
  12. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 11:12 PM) Yep. I have no idea why Sands is on the 25-man roster. ok i am willing to get flamed here. but i like sand, i like him over avi... i would acknowledge wanting loney over avit hell i would like murph over avi.
  13. i am being totally honest, but i have not felt this good about the sox starting the season.... in i don't know when. great job management..... great job sox players .... wow.
  14. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 10:36 PM) Great defensive 1stbaseman too. Murphy is a good solid hitter tho. either murph or loney will be a good pickup, for me, i still will take loney, he can play 1b and have a great avg.
  15. and how bout that pitching by latos.... 0 runs.
  16. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 01:32 PM) This looks awesome! Still can't believe there is going to be a Star Wars movie coming out every year. i had to go and look on the star wars and imdb to understand this. now i got it. a new branch of actors and characters will be into and 2 different stories going on. excellent idea. now they are making it work.
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 02:27 PM) Charlotte @ Durham, 5:05 CT, Carroll starting Birmingham @ Jacksonville, 6:05 CT, Danish starting Winston-Salem @ Lynchburg, 5:30 CT, Adams starting Hickory @ Kannapolis, 6:05 CT, Martinez starting Scoreboard Link oh man, i can't wait. i am glad i am off tomorrow. too bad thee is no video for tonite.
  18. QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 12:49 PM) New word. Thanks. it is a real word or else the spell check would have corrected me.
  19. there is a prospect who, imo deserves some chatter is May, he really impress me with his range and defense. i would really like to see positiveness from him as this summer. the system is looking good.
  20. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 05:40 AM) The problem is unfortunately nobody is available certainly not the first week of the season. Sox are pretty much stuck with him until maybe June when things start to loosen up and teams start to fall out of contention. If the Sox are in it they've got 13 million to play with (Thanks Adam!!!!!LOL) Mark dang, this team sucks big time, so much for hoping of going undefeated. but seriously it is still really early and i like to see how the season opener looks like. if after 2 weeks, then i can start biitching but it all this, falls directly on the owners .... the good and the bad.
  21. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 6, 2016 -> 02:47 PM) I'm all for BPA but I hope a position player falls like we got Rodon (although we were at 3. I still thought he should've been 1.1) and Fulmer. the way things are working out, i really can see the sox picking someone who is listed to be pick in the late teens or early 20,,,,, to given them a nice salary and at the same time save some money.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 6, 2016 -> 08:45 PM) Yeah I'm all in on Zangari. I also still like Hawkins despite his failures, I just hope he puts it together like Trayce did. He just looks like a 90s baseball players I grew up with. i do like him, but i would really like to see him repeat this summer..... but since no-one is wrong here. nice pick.
  23. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 6, 2016 -> 01:49 PM) My favorite is Trey M. It was between he and Adams. this is a really hard question for me, i would have chosen, betweem anderson, adams, guerrero, engel, and e. alvarez and with the winner being adams.
  24. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Apr 6, 2016 -> 05:42 AM) They look like 2 guys who dont like each other.. but have to work with one another.. look at the yanks, 2 of their hof'ers hated each other. the babe and lou. if you google some of the hrs that the babe hit, you will see lou turn his back on him as the babe crosses home plate.
  25. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 6, 2016 -> 05:52 AM) Like I said. Who is being the most visable cheerleaders in the dugout vs who wanted to run a daycare. wow, it really must be me, but i do not understand your comment. sorry, pls explain.
