    **2016 Films Thread**

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Mar 28, 2016 -> 12:05 PM) Saw 10 Cloverfield Lane yesterday. Really great movie with John Goodman stealing the show. As it has been mentioned before, his performance is Oscar-worthy. I loved the ending. It didn't feel forced as to tie in the Cloverfield name. There were some clues throughout the film that helped make the ending work. Even before the ending, which was intense, there were some extremely suspenseful moments that had me gripping the arms of the chair. I would highly recommend the movie. for me, i think i will always watch a John Goodman movie.... he has always done a great job.
  2. QUOTE (daggins @ Mar 27, 2016 -> 10:43 PM) Until he bombs in the regular season I will give Latos the benefit of the doubt. either way, it is too late to get anyone that can really help, unless it is thru a trade.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 27, 2016 -> 09:21 PM) He's just not a big league starter. Still not sure why they put so much confidence into Turner coming into camp. $$$$
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 27, 2016 -> 08:25 PM) 13 pitchers is ridiculous, but I wouldn't be surprised if they want Carroll on stand by. have no choice when the owners don't really want to invest to fix this team ....
  5. the bulls fo needs to blow up the team last yr, that being said, i hope they will do it this yr. bring in new players and start the rebuild. can't do anything with rose's contract. now i am wondering if the players as a group, lost faith in the coach

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 27, 2016 -> 09:51 PM) Anybody's dog ever start limping every once in awhile? Mine has the past few months. Limps but then goes away for few weeks. Everytime I examine and try and see what hurts, he never reacts so anything so can't pin point. have his joints and bones checked out.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Mar 27, 2016 -> 02:55 PM) White Sox Mock: 1.10. Alec Hansen, Oklahoma, RHP (best college pitcher for 3rd year straight? 5th man to Sale, Q, Rodon, Fulmer by 2018) 1.26. Logan Shore, Florida, RHP (Another arm to bolster system) 2.49. Ryan Boldt, Nebraska, OF (High end college bat to bolster system) 3.86. Matt Thaiss, UVA, C (C is the biggest need by CWS and Thaiss should move quickly, big bat) interesting mock and no one can fault it. i see a hansen is dropping so for me, that is not a bad pick. ready to fast track like rodon, maybe fulmer. so i am still thinking #10 will be a pitcher selected. partly b/c i still think the team is still in need of sp, esp those who will not take too long to develop another who can fly thru will be c jones. i still like krook and quantrill. at #26..... while another sp can be argued, but i still think a cat will be looked at. collin or debo. i also really like craig-3b, crowe-sp, garrett-sp. #49 .... there are some really interesting prep players i would love for the sox to get. here is my little tidbit that i came across, due to some ruling, Kep Brown may be avail in this draft.... i can see him being picked in the 2nd round by someone. http://www.postandcourier.com/article/2015...nburg-methodist
  8. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Mar 27, 2016 -> 01:33 AM) With one off day in April, Ventura said 13 pitchers not out of equation. "We’ve been discussing that, definitely." https://twitter.com/CST_soxvan/status/713869095767179264 this will be a great move to break with 13. too bad some of those i was expecting to compete are not. but with al leaving, take the extra pitcher.
  9. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Mar 26, 2016 -> 02:29 PM) The took a buy low chance on Turner. Didn't work and it happens. but the sox always have done something like that. this season as it stands is not the time to do that kind of bargain shopping, not when they assembled a great core to succeed. i understand the latos signing, esp since i was b****ing on signing him since the beginning of the off season. but the possibility of him being hurt changes it. is ej the answer no, is turner the answer, no. so it will need to be carroll. can fulmer do a rodon ??? again it falls on carroll. so what will happen if the season starts and latos is still hurting????
  10. QUOTE (oldsox @ Mar 26, 2016 -> 04:03 AM) If everything else is equal, the lefty should be in LF, and the righty should be in RF. Keeps the glove hand closer to the foul line, where the tougher plays are. line i will be honest, i have never thought of that. but that may be the ideal situation.
  11. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Mar 25, 2016 -> 10:41 PM) Thought this would be the right place to list all the picks the media, the national magazines and the baseball networks are making for the Sox for 2017. First off is Sports Illustrated (and it's not a happy one.) They have the Sox finishing 4th in the division with only a single game improvement to 77-85 from the final 2016 record. They do pick Chris Sale to win the A.L. Cy Young and the 'scout's take' section on the Sox is very positive (which somewhat makes their Sox pick puzzling...) By the way they have Houston beating the Cubs in the World Series. Mark no offense, but didn't someone posted another one like this before the al fiasco??? if not, i like this idea and at least an updated version of this. btw, what is pissing me off is the WS prediction on both the al and the nl. if that nl team is the northsiders, i will be royally pissed.
  12. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 25, 2016 -> 10:01 PM) There's more foul ground and room out in LF at the Cell no? If so, then you put Eaton there as his range, even with his bad jumps, is way better than Melky's. lf vs rf. this is a great debate and have always been of interest to me. i haven't had this debate since the late 80's. so my assumption has always been more hitters are right handed and of those the power hitter comes into play. also for me, i have always taken in account that you have those pull hitters to deal with. so the whole lf will have to have better range factor and the make the those recovery action or instinct for those pull hitters. the rf will need to have the stronger arm, because he makes longer throws, and his reaction time will be help b/c in most fields, there is a wall there for balls to bounce back into the field. the main debate is to have the stronger arm vs the quickness to cover more.
  13. QUOTE (shysocks @ Mar 25, 2016 -> 02:49 PM) I agree. Saying Rodon has Sale's stuff is slightly insulting to Sale. i don't see this as insulting to sale, but of a exaggeration.... or crazy wish.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 05:44 PM) Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeyman 4h4 hours ago HS LHP jason groome, U of Fla LHP aj puk r consensus top picks for June draft. Phils could take local groome (barnegat, nj) that is a great point on philly and they are rebuilding. they can go either way.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 11:00 PM) Dude, you're stuck in the past. Time to move on. lol niceeee. i really don't get into tv. what i want to see, i download it. so to speak. a friend gave me those 2 esp and i am hooked.
  16. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 08:20 PM) Rodon's stuff isn't that much better than Fulmer's IMO. Seems Carson sits at a higher velocity with the fastball and that curveball is nasty interesting pov.... i will honestly say, i will need to see how he performs before i can compare him to anyone.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 02:37 PM) If Forbes is to be believed, the team made $20 million last year, despite a bad year, low ratings, low attendance, cheap tickets, stretching the payroll... It doesn't appear the franchise is doomed or looking to move out of their sweetheart deal anytime soon. it doesn't matter.... no matter how much money the club pulls in and regardless of the payroll. the club will always make 20 mil.

    2015 TV Thread

i just watch the first 2 esp of a series called Lucifer. not bad and i like it. i went and heard the soundtrack on youtube and there is some really great songs. i need to catch the rest of it over the weekend.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 04:25 PM) I am stating facts. 100% of posters would have been happy a week before Adam LaRoche retired if he retired. Then he retires and all of the perfect parents here know how to raise their kids and know despite not one report to the contrary, the guy LaRoche is doing a s***ty job of raising is nothing but a good kid. Just remember when you mention FACTS, the next complaint you read about Drake LaRoche will be the first. So if you want to rip people for assuming, you really need to look in the mirror. and how do you what are the facts ???? were you there??? when did i ever complain about drake..... i complain the most about the clubhouse and the clubhouse vs managment,.... al and his problem will be dealt with with their legal teams.... that has always been my stance. now the rest of what you wrote, you are grasping for any way to justify your comments. good debate.... but i gotttssss to go, i will follow up later. peace
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 04:18 PM) I'm just commenting, and stating some facts. Adam LaRoche needed to retire. So he retires and he's an ass. Adam LaRoche needs to move on, now we have someone monitoring his Meat company's twitter feed to see if anything controversial comes of it, not to mention a shot at him for not thanking fans. Why isn't the tweet where he thanked baseball and said he gave him more than he ever deserved, from HIS twitter totally ignored. But fanning flames is one of your specialties. no you are not, it is you, and you using your perception of what you are assuming is facts.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 04:11 PM) He's been silent. I don't know why that is some evil conspiracy. He is gone, leaving the game behind. Why are you criticizing he not moving on when he clearly is, when you cannot move on? and how come you can't let it go???? it takes 2.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 04:10 PM) I love this comment by Teixeira: “It was the first time he has ever gone on the field with me, and he’s 10 years old,’’ Teixeira said of a workout last week. “It won’t happen during the season. It was one time, a special workout, a stay-back workout [when] there weren’t a lot of guys here. I’ve always had the mentality, this is my job, when I’m here I’m a hundred percent. I’m not checking my phone all day long, calling people. When I’m at work, I’m at work. It’s served me well.’’ http://nypost.com/2016/03/24/mark-teixeira...=site%20buttons mr social media could learn something from this.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 04:04 PM) No. They are using the latest news and the people who support him to make some extra sales for their business. What another awful thing that no one else would do. The only flames being fanned are fathom, LDF and you. ahh this added after the fact. but with the bold, i saw replies that, imo justifying al or taking liberties with the truth and opinions. so i was bored and responded.
  24. QUOTE (shysocks @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 03:53 PM) Absolutely, acting all victimized. If he had wanted to muzzle his company's Twitter account he would have done so immediately. Instead he was all too happy to play the martyr. Instead of being quiet, he could have put his statement out there right away. I've consistently been among the least harsh on LaRoche the player, chalking his struggles up to the hamate and expecting a reasonable bounceback. There's no special bias from me, but he comes out of this looking like a buffoon, and I'm happy to point that out when he continues to drum this s*** up. and there are many times he could have come out with that special msg of let is die, but didn't.
