  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 04:02 AM) Agreed. Year after year, "All In" failed, so they finally decided to rebuild, but suddenly the "All In" crowd took control again, but no one is even pointing fingers, just shrugging shoulders i disagree with this..... they are good at pointing fingers and it was directed right at the fans. it was the fans fault for not coming to the park and support the team.
  2. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 06:48 AM) A former reporter said the problem with the organization is that it laid back. That's why they get free agents to come here. Then the organization sucks at developing position players so the roster become casual. Players like Ramirez can't be benched because there is no one to replace him. Maybe a few on the pitching staff may fear they can be replaced but not the position players. How many other organizations that have been this poor at developing position players would keep the same people in tact. There is no accountability other than low attendance. They need to sell this team to someone who might care a little bit more. nice find, the problem is not caring, it is mismanagement. proof, kw is still at the helm. i hate this to be a kw bashing, but mismanagement from the very top down. then you need to throw in the accountability factor. on the team side, there is really no leader to lead them. the leader who will circle the wagons and by shear will force them to play better.
  3. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 03:04 AM) Bluff ? There's been a lot of options the last few years the Sox coud've picked up off the scrap heap who could be just as effective as Flowers. you posted was for last yr . i am talking about this off season.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 01:33 AM) With how much our best trade piece has struggled there is genuinely no reason to rush this one. Worst case scenario we're still at the bottom of the division mid-July and players are still as worthless as they look now. No way that's worse than where we stand right now. Maybe Samardzija has a non-awful month and some idiot is more willing to take a chance on him in late July than they would be right now. He's already been so bad he's a sunk cost, anything we get back for him is just barely compensation at this point. and trading for Shark, the other team needs to entice the sox to make this trade..... the going cost is going to be ....... let the other team decide that. all the sox needs to do is say yah or nah.
  5. He's already been so bad he's a sunk cost, anything we get back for him is just barely compensation at this point. you can look it at it that way. i am looking at if the cost is not that extravagant of a cost, team may be willing to pay the right price instead of getting into a bid to the highest seller, one. the bid to the highest seller will be when team are more desperate. also team may not want to pay for those rentals, so they may pay the price for a player who is cost effective for several yrs. this also includes rookies and minor who is major league ready kind of player or pkg of players. the main point, how much would it be worth for the other team to pay to get it done.
  6. QUOTE (daggins @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 01:41 AM) Actually with Flowers, they might non tender him and try to re-sign him. He might be worth ~2M but he definitely isn't worth 4. there is no freaking way he is worth 4 mil. however to pull that bluff, the sox better have an option ready, to replace him if he doesn't want to come back.
  7. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 01:17 AM) don't get me wrong, making this list is part of the problem that sox has, but to who to replace them with. it kind of goes with the other thread, where there is a discussion of trading players. unless the sox invest in a catcher via FA, i just don't see this position being improve for at least 2 more yrs. i guess it kind of goes with someone in the sox org, seeing the priorities in signing FA or even drafting. this catching position should have been address sometime in 2012 or 2013. if not earlier.
  8. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 01:20 AM) It was a... joke? ahhh i guess the missed the green font. my bad.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 01:07 AM) I just want someone to be responsible for this decision making. I don't know who it should be because I wasn't behind closed doors to see who was pushing for which decisions. If Hahn was strongly in favor of the "all in" type moves, big spending and trading for a guy on a 1 year deal then Hahn is the target. If someone with more power pushed him into that then get that person out of Hahns way. If the decision making setup is going to stay in place then the people who ran the day to day operations on the coaching staff need removed. You can't spend $50 million in 1 year, fail, and have no one be responsible for that failure. For no one to be held responsible then they need to stop failing. EXCELLENT post. who is responsible is the key word. i still say, they the sox was doing great and then it hit a brick wall and stop. the sox needed to make several more moves. in one they, the FO went out and got Penny and Drabek.... and in another, they went out and got Soto... Soto, while a decent backup, is not what the sox needed. here is my other question i have been waiting to ask for a long time. does the sox have no one who could really see the big picture, outside the dollar.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 01:13 AM) I have no idea. We have lots of catchers and none of them are earning the spot. That does suggest they might offer arb just to have someone in the role to see how it goes. don't get me wrong, making this list is part of the problem that sox has, but to who to replace them with. it kind of goes with the other thread, where there is a discussion of trading players. unless the sox invest in a catcher via FA, i just don't see this position being improve for at least 2 more yrs.
  11. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 12:16 AM) I wish I had an answer. Just ride the wave and see where the Sox stand in late July. Hope some guys comes around. don't get me wrong, some really hard decisions on who to trade, will need to be decided in the sox FO. it is inevitable, esp if the sox are still floundering. i reall would not want to wait untiil ASG to decide. got to strike while the iron is hot, contending teams are looking now for help.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 01:04 AM) You forgot Flowers. i was wondering about that one, then again who will replace him??
  13. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 01:01 AM) What y'all got against my boy Junior Guerra, assholes was that really necessary.
  14. QUOTE (daggins @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 12:52 AM) Assuming the season continues on its trajectory - Alexei Ramirez - option declined Emilio Bonifacio - option declined Geo Soto - Not re-signed this offseason Gordon Beckham - Not re-signed Hector Noesi - DFA, released Matt Albers - Not re-signed JB Shuck - waivers, claimed Jeff Samardzija - FA, comp pick Gillaspie - Non-tendered, FA i think Shuck will not get waived.
  15. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 12:15 AM) Hmmmmmm NO! then how bout giving a reason and a replacement that will be cost effective.
  16. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 12:04 AM) Offseaon soxtalk "I love what Rick Hahn has done" "Rick Hahn is awesome" soxtalk now "Hahn is just KWs puppet" Soxtalk if Sox were in first place " Gotta give Hahn a ton of credit for assembling this team" i don't see where posters are saying Hahn is kw puppet.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 13, 2015 -> 10:34 PM) http://pro.boxoffice.com/latest-news/2015-...rong-185m-start Jurassic World was originally projected to do $110-140 million. Revised all the way up to $180-220 million and breaking tons of records. Might be the third highest opening of all-time. Congrats to Chris Pratt...who's also reported to be the leading candidate to reprise the beloved role of Dr. Indiana Jones. i saw the movie, it was really good, Pratt does make the difference. very much online with JP #1.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 13, 2015 -> 11:24 PM) There are too many cooks in the kitchen, and the head chef sucks. a real nice analogy .... very accurate.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 13, 2015 -> 11:21 PM) Alexei has been horrible this year. He's lost a lot of range and bat speed. Time to find a new SS next year. then move him to 3b .
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 13, 2015 -> 11:07 PM) I'm a Hahn fan and think he deals with KW bulls***. Once Kenny is gone, I think he'll have more control to make correct decisions. but are you sure, the problem won't leave?? was KW just the mouth of the owner wishes??
  21. Alexei needs to be back, even if it for playing SS. i still think he is improving. re-Danks, ahhhh lets not forget the length of his contract? the owners should suck it up and pay him and put him in some extended d/l. but they won't do that, b/c of what the cost of his salary.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 13, 2015 -> 11:08 PM) First we heard about the great bullpen that's allowing 35% of inherited runners to score. Now the Beckham Jinx...whenever you start to believe in the team turning things around or any player not named Chris Sale, you will end up being disappointed. ok, i am not saying Beckham jinx, how bout many posters jump on his bandwagon when he is going good, which if you look at his history, is proof. now, for me on part 1, is he is back to normal. part 2 is, i am wondering if he is a player who will produce in a limited role. granted his defense is needed, but still offensively, he was doing good for an extending time while he was playing a limited role.
  23. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 13, 2015 -> 08:53 PM) My thinking is, the Sox do not trade a cheap cost controlled #2 without getting his replacement in return. Trading Q to fill other holes is not a bad idea but it does create a huge void in the rotation. and therein lies the problem, which i was trying to lead my discussion toward. many posters are saying trade this player or that player, and unless they see the other side, what will be the end results, well, you help me show my reasoning. so the question is still there, how to fix this club??
  24. well i will say, is this the real gordon the sox have seen all these yrs, or is he playing too much.
  25. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jun 13, 2015 -> 08:20 PM) Yes, they suck. But substantial career numbers against LHP says they suck far, far less than Flowers/Sanchez in that situation. About 200 OPS points each, but who cares, right? We're bad precisely because of the "little things" that other teams do that we don't - and this is among them. The little things add up. Is baserunning a little thing? Ours is the worst we've ever seen. Look, I'm an optimist generally, but I'm becoming resigned to a certain attitude that sticks in my gut - the org won't make the sweeping changes needed until the old man kicks it or otherwise relinquishes control. This upcoming offseason needs to be a watershed, but as the Chairman ages, he'll likely become more and more resistant to drastic change. And it will remind me more and more of the Hawks from back in the Dollar Bill days. Sorry for rant. We have different definitions of nitpicking. nitpicking is one thing, and i on occasion am guilty of that. however on the bolded, i am in total agreement with you and that is not nitpicking, that is telling the truth. i have been guilty again of saying as much, to a point, i am sure poster are tired of it. what i am and was defending is normal stuff that RV can do, like go and see his family on special events and yet get criticize from a group of soxtalk posters. or, while there, still get criticize for the managing of the game.
