  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 06:57 PM) You were the one making the initial comparison to what other teams do, not me. how???? i mention facts of what the sox did and in no where did i compared them to another team, unless you are implying that the sox didn't invest and got better options. so how was i comparing this statement to another team, mayber how they mismanage the thought process of how to plan for the unexpected instead of not completting the rebuild. pls explain how i am comparing to other teams.
  2. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 07:36 PM) He did take the invite, just didn't make the club out of ST. Fix the starting rotation? Hahn added Shark, at the time looked like a great move, combine that with Sale and Q didn't get off to a great start up until the last couple weeks. Danks is Danks, and Noesi was coming off some success in the 2nd half of last season and earned that #5 spot. Problem is Danks is still Danks, Shark has not worked out, Noesi is a DFA candidate right now, and Sale and Q weren't exactly that good until the last month or so. In terms of Rodon, he's ready, did you not see the the last 3-4 starts before yesterday's? He was simply amazing in those starts. Everyone is allowed to have a bad game. i looked and i can't find anything about the sox with Zito. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/02/athl...inors-deal.html http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2...brera/25213435/ however, lets say for this discussion, he did, the point is, he did not make the final cut. so how is that helping??? and with ref to the pitching not preforming, ok where is the backup??? and trying to squeeze out, Look at Rodon and his last 3-4 starts before yesterday, he should be learning his trade in the minors. and not on-the-job.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 07:34 PM) They fixed the starting rotation just fine. Noesi was demoted and they called up some guy named Rodon. And trust me when I saw there were tons of awful starting pitchers invited to camps and installed into rotations. Jason Marquis lasted longer in the rotation for Cincy then Hector Noesi did for the White Sox. with all due respect... i really don't care what other cities are doing, esp trying to compare them to the sox. with ref to other terrible sp's invited, i am only concerned with this yr. i do not like to relieve the history of the sox follies. this yr on how bad this club is and how to fix it.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 06:29 PM) He made himself a lot of money, and kept it, and didnt do anything for his franchise or fans. Not much to disagree with, the team was named the worst organization in professional sports for one reason, Bill Wirtz. very true and i will not dispute what you are saying. however, Bill Sr, was always out for the money. he was the one who said, give the fans a little hope and the season tickets would be sold. it wasn't until the 90's that the fans got feed up. fans getting feed up will rebel pretty much as the sox fans are doing now. chi is one fanatical city for sports.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 07:02 PM) Barry Zito got an invite to spring training for god's sake. and for god sake, he didn't take the invite. nor did the sox fixed the starting rotation and on top of that, the rotation needed a rookie to come in, who is not yet ready, and i mean fully ready. pls remember, he was still an unknown factor coming into this season. the bottom line, for god sake the FO is playing roulette and betting on the 0 and double 00.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 06:50 PM) Many do exactly that. Why do you think a guy like Grady Sizemore is still hanging around baseball. again, good point, but i am talking pitchers, starting pitchers.
  7. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 06:39 PM) He's at negative fWAR now with the Sox and if you prefer ERA+ he's at 72. They haven't found any success with him. Cooper's pixie dust is long gone, what was their last successful reclamation project, like seriously successful not just a halfway decent start now and there... I figured out of Noesi, Rodon and Danks they might squeeze out 500 innings around an ERA+ of 90. The turned out to be wildly optimistic. This team isn't firing on a single cylinder. Time to clean house. i was referring the the success he found last yr. can i also asked, b/c i have no clue on the advance mettic, the break down on the 1 half compared to the second half of last yr.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 06:37 PM) Every single team in baseball takes on reclaimation projects of all shapes and sizes. excellent point. but i bet they are not counting on them to perform and to be used right away, as if it was foregone conclusion that it was going to work.
  9. QUOTE (glangon @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 08:24 AM) It shouldn't matter what anyone in Charlotte does but other organisations seem to benefit from having options and some decent AAA players. If you look at the other franchises out there such as the Scrubs, the Mets, the Red Sox and the Yankees. Every one of these teams has rookies with options to go with their veterans, they have a balance and a mix. We don't, so when things go bad and you need to make a move to bring up a guy to freshen up the line up, we can't do it without eating money or sticking someone on the DL. This, I agree with this. Ramirez should have went last year when his stock was high, we should never have signed Boneyfishio and although it was nice to see Beckham hit well for a few weeks, it looks like he's back to his old ways. I think once this losing streak is out of the way (and I reckon it could go beyond the Rangers series) and we are over 10 games out of the lead, then I think you'll see Shark, Ramirez and anyone else we think we can get value for traded (especially bullpen pieces) You also neglected to mention that we should have DFA'd Noesi who has been much poorer than Carroll in the long-relief role. btw, that is not the way to FO works, the took Noesi as a reclaimation project and found some success. now the sox didn't think to invest and continue the rebuild b/c of what they thought Noesi will bring in. it was unlikely that the FO didn't think he would regress back to his old self. so what did they, the FO do, went out and reach for Penny and Drabek. hoping to replciate the same success. no matter how you paint it, mismanagement without a clue.

  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 03:54 AM) We won a cup with Niemi. Goalie is the least of my concerns. and i will wait till the weekend to discuss this. i want to enjoy the moment.
  12. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 03:57 PM) I meant that one of the most incompetent owners in all of sports died, but yeah, that too. if you are talking about $Bill, he made lots and lots of money.... so i disagree.
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 11:32 AM) One Shining Moment - hockey style that was fantastic. nice find. got me thinking, in this whole playoff season, how many times did the hawks won in o/t? even better, how many times did they go into o/t? while i am at it, how many games was won by 2 goal or less?? bottom line. this was a great post season and a great, nerve racking playoff season. wow.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 09:56 AM) It’s the 12th time this season the White Sox have lost by at least five runs. “It went downhill pretty quick,” center fielder Adam Eaton said. “You hope you can get more than two hits offensively. Defensively you have three errors and throw the ball around and its not a good sign. But this is a good team. We’ve got to continue to work hard and try to compete every game and every at-bat. But we need to start doing it a little more frequently and grind out at-bats and same thing on the mound and defensively it has got to be much better.” www.csnchicago.com/Dan Hayes here is something to think about. sox lost 11-0. the sox didn't even score a run. the team gave up.
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 04:42 AM) Hawks! Ok, I guess Crawford can stay. Duncan Keith passes officially Chelios as my favorite Hawk ever. yeah, i got to stop wishing the hawks will trade him. now i am going to say, the hawks have to find ways to keep him and most of the team together
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 04:42 AM) Hawks! Ok, I guess Crawford can stay. Duncan Keith passes officially Chelios as my favorite Hawk ever. oh man, that is hard, but for me a 4 way tie with dougie wilson, hammer, keith and chelly.
  17. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 03:44 AM) Watching Puk pitch right now against Virginia. and how is he doing???
  18. to the owners group of the white sox. go to the stadium and gander up to the rafters..... that is the results of a championship team winning 3 times in 6 yrs. don't you wish it can happen to the south side.
  19. ok, my time to fess up. this whole weekend i was floundering around and talking trade on most of the important players on this team. i was doing this to get it out of the system. the sox or will not trade anyone this early. i really want to see how they do in the int't draft. i do bet their patience is getting rather thin and it should. most of this problem is management fault. but i want to see good games this week.
  20. i will always disagree with the money and profit of the sox, i will not debate that, i will say they have the money. however lets look at this way. with regards of salary and finishing the job. fix the team which included a cat and infielder, add a 1 or 2 fa pitcher to the mix. the cat via trade and trading a asset to get it done, get a fa 3b. overall the sox will be in the negative .... i understand that, the northsider outfield wall was getting fixed, put the product on the field. the sox will lose money this first yr, while bringing the fans back and maybe looking at a playoff run. the sox have the mlb draft and int't draft.... break the bank on the int'l draft. what ever the faith the baseball gods has in store for the sox, come at the end of the season is done. 2016 > more fans, more revenue, more season tickets sold, the farm system is 1 yr older and may start looking to start producing, players salary can be dealt with in the offseason of a successful 2015 campaign. i said pretty much the same thing during the off season, i still haven't change my position, instead, the sox got Beckham, Soto Penny and Drabek.
  21. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 01:28 AM) Understood, but I am not trading Q at the deadline. I would see what offers I got in the offseason where every team is a potential trade partner. By then you will also know how desperate the situation is. a little different in philosophy, i can agree to that.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 02:01 AM) They showed no patience last offseason and that's set us back at least a year, maybe more. oh we will disagree on this one. the sox didn't finish the job that was started.
  23. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 12:45 AM) If the Sox end up being non-contenders then what's the rush? Too many problems to be fixed during the season for a non-contender. That's why I keep saying, patience. b/c if the trade rt is the option, the teams in the hunt of the playoff, will need that arm. that arm to help in the long run of the playoff. that is why i am saying, if this is an option the sox needs to go, then do it early where the rtn may be more.
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 12:46 AM) Therein lies the problem. Are you able to sell Quintana based on his 2012-2014 track record or the slightly lesser versions of him (and Samardzija) that have been partially brought about by especially terrible White Sox defense this season? If you can sell that he's the right fit for a contending team with the other peripheral numbers (FIP or DIP, for example), but are you really going to get the players you need at perhaps the three most offensively challenged positions in baseball in 3B, middle infield (SS) and catcher? I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult to put together a highlight reel showing how a decent percentage of his earned runs that/which shouldn't even be credited to him due to mental and physical mistakes, "home cooking" road scorekeeping, balls dropping in without being touched or runners pushed into scoring position when they should have been held at 1B, poor throwing from Flowers/Soto allowing runners to advance to 2nd or 3rd base on steals, etc. Also worth noting is that the White Sox bullpen has allowed 35% of inherited runners to score, which also has to be in the bottom 3-5 teams in MLB. In other words, he's essentially the same Quintana, it's just that the White Sox have played brutal baseball behind him...and that any team with a good offense could help him to kick it back into another gear mentally, knowing he wouldn't have to pitch a game where he only gave up a couple of runs in order to be in a position to win it. Forced to pitch too "fine," as they would argue, out of fear of making mistakes rather than pitching aggressively knowing you have the defense and offense to back it up. the sox will not need to sell anything, all of the other teams who wants to make a trade will do their due diligence in do their own investigation. the only thing i know is the other team will come in and try to low ball the bid.
  25. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 12:11 AM) So Sale can't be traded. What would the Sox get for quintana? i honestly thought that discussion was done. read the other thread.
