  1. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 12:04 AM) Sale's value is so high that the return would be unprecedented which makes it incredibly difficult to assess his true "value". That's why I'm hesitant to speculate because the truth is, I have no idea. His value is on a very high pedistal that I sure as hell cannot see. And what the Sox think of the proposed return. very good. the point is, the sox back is up against the wall with no help coming, immediately from the system. the unenviable position the sox have to trade ..... who is the question.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 12:48 AM) Do you see any other way to turn around the worst offense/defense in baseball without trading away pitching? It's certainly not going out and signing Upton, Heyward and Alex Gordon. yes, you start in the off season by promoting RV and get a better coach. there is a reason this team has abandon the coaches. this one time tells the story, Hahn and staff had to talk to RV and explain certain things for him to do. ummmm now you tell me i am exaggerating.
  3. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 12:45 AM) I have no problem entertaining the idea of trading Sale but until an actual value can somehow be determined I really do not see the point. I would not know where to begin. the value will be determine by what the team trading for, thinks it is worth.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 12:46 AM) If they fall out of contention and trade away some of the veterans, you won't have to root for them to lose. Their roster would be so weak, the losses would pile up. Don't forget Rodon will likely not pitch the last month or so as well, which means it's possible to have 3/5 of your rotation be something like Danks, Beck and Johnson/Carroll if Samardzija gets traded. not to mention for those who thinks alot of this, this poor excuse of a team esp in the beginning, is RV fault.
  5. QUOTE (daggins @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 12:25 AM) Eaton should bounce back, he has already been better in May/June. He might just be an inconsistent player. I don't even think LaRoche is that disappointing. He's been fine. Flowers, well, he isn't good. let me also add, which i failed to mention, add all those to a kettle called the white sox and chi fans get what they got. frustration and ready to sell the farm for help. help that the FO should have seen and planned for bad results, in the most commonly used words, in case.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 12:25 AM) What fan base? The current front office trying to compete every single year has led to bottom 5 attendance. Would anyone even notice if they did what the Cubs did? with the top 2 in the sox org, they will screw it up.... and i am not mentioning Hahn.
  7. no one really hasn't mention this, in the right way. Sale is a #1 sp, a front of the rotation guy. sox trade him..... who will be that #1 and pls don't insult this post by mentioning Rodon, he hasn't proven squat. so with the starting rotation, who is the #1, Q, Shark for now, Rodon.
  8. QUOTE (daggins @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 12:06 AM) That's nice and all, but I would rather see the young assets the Sox already have (the Johnsons, Avi, Rodon, etc) and the vets they're stuck with (Melky, LaRoche, Duke) perform well in the latter half of the season. This would go a long ways to convince me that they aren't broken/were never good. the biggest let down which in my opinion has done more harm is Eaton, LaRoche and Flowers. the fiasco at 2b could have been absorb if everybody else was hitting. even conor batting at what he has hasn't help.
  9. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 12:06 AM) Sale should be untouchable. He is the franchise right now. Also forget farm system. When you are looking to trade a stud player-say Q, you want ML players not ML ready AAA players. The Sox cannot gamble on minor league prospects to turn this around. Now with Shark, you may have to take a AAA ML ready player since he is a rental. you make a real good point, but teams in the hunt for the playoff will not give up players on the roster. that is why i am saying players who are on a cusp of breaking in with the big club. now remember this, taking what i am saying, those players would undoubtedly be on the every day roster with the sox and many other teams.
  10. QUOTE (Real @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 11:58 PM) dunno I see people talk up their farm system a lot and theyre always successful every year they have pitching depth in the minors. for me nothing else.
  11. did the players on this team gave up on RV??? i can't say it any other way.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 11:38 PM) He's in the same void as Danks now, can't not play him but no one would take him unless you pay most of it. He's now a sunk cost and we just have to get used to it. i will admit i was one of the posters who a. wanted him and b. was glad the sox signed him. but is it him or the team. so many players are underachieving.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 10:26 PM) Now that he's back to normal, no they would not get fair value by trading him. That said...I'm a lot more open than I was last year. This year's utter failure means we are now likely to waste several more of his good seasons waiting for contracts like Melky to clear and if they did move him at least they'd stop making dumb decisions like spending a ton of money and trading for guys about to become FA when their roster was no where near good enough to do so. the sox did not waste a 3 rounder for him to sign. then to either eat his contract or to trade if for less value.
  14. QUOTE (Real @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 10:10 PM) im sure the sox already know what teams would give up for him tho they probably get calls on a regular basis yeah you are right about that for me it will be in this order Hou, La dodgers i think cincy sfo will have the pit and 3b but no cat tor ... i just am not sold on their later prospects i do really like their catch.
  15. QUOTE (Real @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 10:14 PM) this was talked about last year. general consensus was no (and I agreed) its a year later. figured its at least worthy of discussion if nothing else with his contract/remaining yrs, what is the proper value for #49 imho you need someone whos got a stud catcher who cant miss as a top priority in the deal as well as a cant miss SP i agree, i have been waiting for some one to start this. but the rtn would be really too much for a team willing to pay. imagine 4 top rated prospects plus at 2 pitcher in the start line up. that is my demands.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 11:05 PM) Year-by-Year legitimate prospects for us at time of selection: '12: Hawkins, Barnum, Beck, DeMichele, Brennan, Basto, Hansen, Johnson, Guerrero, Ayala, Coats '13: Anderson, Danish, May, Mitchell, Lowry, Michalczewski, Goldberg, Ball '14: Rodon, Adams, Fry, Austin, Lechich, Jarvis, Fish '15: Fulmer, Erwin, Stephens, Zangari, Hickman, Schroeder, Glines, Comito, Lassiter Sidenotes: Sike Orvis reminds me of the annual Dan Black, Danny Hayes pick Glines and Lassiter are major steals, hopefully at least like Coats Fulmer is future MLB starter Erwin and Stephens should both be MLB relievers at least Zangari has monster power, best HS bat for us in a while that late Hickman has potential to be a star reliever Michael Hickman, who likely won't sign, can be a star and our top C in the organization nice work you put in. many thanks on my side not, i did not want hawkins or barnum 13 ..... i can't remembr 14. Fry and Austin. with fry i wanted J. Reetz-cat, pit and cat who was right after Fry
  17. QUOTE (Real @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 10:01 PM) nobody is a bigger sale fan than I am but moving him has to at least be in the discussion hes the type of guy you could refresh half the starting lineup with in trade returns other than kershaw hes probably the most valuable SP trade piece in baseball i am with you. in the right trade, with the right team, the sox can get back a 3b, a cat and a top line rp in the minors for next yr moving up. flip the rp with a sp in the minors for a sp and a cat. this is my fantasy at being a gm that i thought of.
  18. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 09:55 PM) They better be getting a hell of a lot more than that to trade Quintana. Q was worth 5.3 fWAR last year. He's already accumulated over a win this season and he's signed to a bargain of a contract. I don't really understand why people are insistent on dealing him for less than he's worth. again no offense but it takes 2 to tango and many teams do not really want to pay.
  19. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 09:54 PM) Eric Byrnes just said on MLB Network that the Sox are the biggest disappointment this season. this may come out really snarky and i am not meaning it to. but no fvvcking shiiite. we as fans has to endure this.
  20. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 10:50 PM) You don't have to like it. Feel however you want to feel. You would have been the only one happy to see the Sox draft Justin Hooper or Everett in the middle rounds though. You put in a lot of time on this board and are very knowledgable so I don't really understand why you actually think that those guys somehow were signable and the Sox said "nah lets draft inferior guys for the same money". b moss, signed for half of what his slot value was. there was another one who signed for far less. trying to add a bonus money for a player that is not needed in the next 3 yrs, is my problem. the sox has additonal holes in the system, they need to find ways to fill them and address them. they sox will not go into the fa market again, esp if it is associated with a comp pick. i believe many already knows this, they need players to fill in the holes. unless the sox really dive into the cuban market next month, i don't know how to fill in the holes.
  21. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 10:34 PM) Again, they have to trade someone valuable to acquire multiple young players. Maybe Johnson by next year can play 2nd which would be major in that you filled internally . But you still have holes at catcher, 3B, SP and probably SS. Now if the FO is convinced Fullmer is the real thing, I trade Q and try and get a catcher and infielder. I trade Shark at the deadline this year and try and get a 3B back. If Shark and Q returned a catcher, SS and 3B, Johnson played 2nd and Fullmer took Q's spot that would be a solid step in the right direction. That still leaves a hole for 4th starter assuming Danks is the 5. My fear is Q may not bring back 2 ML ready players realizing we need SS and Catcher which are hard to find. Instead maybe he brings one and a #4 type starter. i agree. either way, Shark is gone, now the question is what will the other team offer if he was traded. sure the sox can make a wish list, but the other team needs to pay.... if not, comp pick. that leave by your scenario and mine, Q. again, what will the other team bid?? now, if he is avail sooner, the price may even be more. that other teams know what the sox have and what they really need. i don't really seeing them really helping. and there is no positional help coming from the minor league, i really hope they don't rush Anderson
  22. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 10:19 PM) They can't spend big next year though really nor should they. Shrewd signings and trades. They can't make a habit of giving up draft picks to sign free agents. I wouldn't sign anyone with a qualifying offer attached. They desperately need those 2 1st rounders next year. shrewd signings is still going to involve spending money. according to the FO, do they have that money to spend? name which players you would trade???
  23. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 09:28 PM) They were available for a reason, signability issues. If the Sox drafted any of those guys in the 4-10 rounds, there would be the 0% chance the Sox sign them because they would have to blow past their pool money. No reason to draft a guy when you know you can't reach their demands of money. in you infinite wisdom, i posted this i am still not a fan of this draft. i will stand my ground, i am not going to be a follower or a yes man.
  24. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 09:28 PM) PIckett, Hooper, and Everett weren't going to sign though? I know the names. Your point doesn't make sense though. White Sox had a little more $5 million. Fulmer gets over $3 million of that. They just didn't have the $$ this year. They actually did fairly well considering the restrictions they had. and as i said in the post, i do not know if they were approach and what the cost would have been to signed. you are taking this again, to make a point. i just mention i was not a fan and i got jumped on. jeez get a life.
  25. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 09:20 PM) Who? Give me names of guys. look up the name yourself. for i will say this, kep brown, j. hooper, g pickett, d. evertt, b moss, even d thompson.
