I thought there was a thread already on music. well either way, i don't know why, but just wasting my day at work, writing on the sox and listening to some classic rock. Rush best all morning and i do love me some great drums and guitar. Hemisphere #1 9:01 in great rift and great backup with neil pert on the drums. still amazes me, the drummer writing all the songs .... right there with phil collins.

and while i am at it, too bad the bulls can't trade Rose

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 05:51 PM) It could be a huge mistake either way. He could break his leg in a game and never sniff a max deal ever again. Both parties are looking forward to the cap getting increased, hopefully both parties can work something out and Jimmy can remain a bull for a long time (with no broken leg) i would really enjoy him to end his career as a bull. but if the cause is lost, i am thinking lets get something from him now.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 05:51 PM) I agree but the message isn't consistent and believe me, players see it and don't like it. If I'm a Sox pitcher struggling for a job (Noesi, Carroll, hell even Rodon) John Danks should have been DFA last summer, instead, he's the de-facto 4th starter on a "contending team" because why? Oh, his salary. If I'm Adam Eaton I'm wondering why I'm the guy to make an example of when the new FA signing next to him has been not just one of the worst 50 players in MLB (like Eaton) but one of the 10 worst? Don't even get me started on Tyler Flowers, who because he's Chris Sale's butt buddy, has a lifetime pass to hit 200 and give us his usual .5 fWAR in 120 games, if that. This team is too beholden to something that doesn't produce wins. What that something is I'm not exactly sure but it's time to switch everything up. so in other words the players are giving up b/c the problem lies in the upper management. this whole discussion on this board has now gone full circle.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 05:42 PM) I think it is hard to say what Steverson's impact to the organizational hitting philosophy is after just a year and a half. With Buddy Bell, I think we have finally seen a long enough era that he sucks as what he does. We've seen absolutely zilch from a position player development side. That isn't to say it is solely because of Bell (could be scouting / drafting wrong players / etc) but reality is our player development on the position side stinks. i can see what you are saying, but for me, it goes to the drafting of the players. give this system bonafide talent that was drafted and lets see from there.

i am with you on not wanting death on anyone.... except for my enemies, and i can live with that. but at the cost of the reported value of the soxs????? who could really afford that and want to keep the team in chi or at there present location??
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 05:55 PM) This would be absolutely terrible for the bulls FWIW, Butler taking a short term deal and being a fully unrestricted FA where the Bulls can't even match his offersheets (even though they could offer him a year more than other teams IIRC). That would be a terrible result of not offering him extra money last offseason. then trade him tomorrow to the la lakers.... fvvck this, the team needs to rebuild anyway with the coaching staff. lets make the transition easy.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 05:28 PM) I agree, those directly involved banned, but I'd also think heavy suspensions for those overseeing. that is only the starter from the mlb baseball side. me thinketh this is only the beginning. talk about the black sox scandal kind of scandal. but seriously.... are they really that dump that they thought they could get away with it???

Should the Sox make an example out of someone?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 05:28 PM) So what? Seriously what's the difference? Why is it a big deal that we're only 7 games under .500 instead of 10 or 12? If we could get something by moving him and free up the salary, it's not like "big money closers" are never available as free agents and it's not like Robertson isn't replaceable next year or the next time we do an all-in season. By the way, 2 of those save opportunities were blown against Torotno, so we could only have 5 more losses. oh now i understand the direction you are taking. i was lost. but if this was trading, then why not jose a. i think Robertson is as much as untouchable as Sale and Jose. -
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 05:20 PM) How Buddy Bell and Vince Coleman keep their jobs is beyond me. Also Todd Steverson was brought in to change the organizational hitting philosophy. It is worse now than ever. Hell he even has an assistant in Harold Baines. We hear Mark Parent and Joe McEwing will be mangers some day. I really do not see how this is even possible the White Sox show know signs of any time of in gmae organizational philosophy that makes me think, yes they have it going. I remember back when Joe Nossek was there and he could steal the other teams signs often. ahh a fond memory. but how can anyone see with a clear vision of what is truly the problem is.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 05:12 PM) Garcia is a low OBP player that cannot play defense. Seems to be ideal for this team. He is 2 for 7 in stolen bases. He is a negative WAR player. Adam Eaton is looking more to be a number nine hitter rather than a leadoff man his current OBP is .302. He is 3 for 7 in stolen bases. He is 0.2 WAR player. What exactly is Robertson going to do for this team? His opportunities are few and far between. The White Sox have one hitter in Abreu and he is a terrible fielder who should be the DH but the White Sox seem to not grasp the concept that defense is important. If they did, they would have grabbed Iglesias in the Peavy deal as he is a defensive wizard and this would have allowed them to spin Ramirez off. Yes this is a hindsite item. the offensive stat for the team are really skewed this yr, b/c of the horrible season this team is in. this teams needs a redo in the fans opinions when the season if over and changes are made. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 04:49 PM) Robertson has had 7 total save opportunities in the last month. Melancon who we faced last night has had 13. Yes he makes Robin's job easier but what's the point of having an expensive top flight closer if you have 7 save opportunities in a month? and if it wasn't for him, the sox could have had 7 more losses. -
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 05:15 PM) In today's game I almost think it's a requirement that your manager be an ex catcher. Relying on Cooper and Flowers to call the balls and strikes and RV to know when to start the running game and when not doesn't seem to be working very well. The whole thing with how Parent handled Eaton rubbed me the wrong way as well and is indicative of a fractured clubhouse imo. Yea Eaton needs to grow up, play better, and not say dumb s*** like "stir the drink" but how about standing behind the guy you just committed 25 million dollars to instead of having the acting f***ing manager bench him for a career AAAA player? The whole org is a mess right now and the stench goes much deeper than just RV, unfortunately. i want someone like a young coop, someone who knows pitchers and someone who won't take crap and puts it out there. now this is leading me to say someone like Mike Maddux - pit coach for Atl who has been looking for a mlb managers job.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 04:52 PM) You don't mean Jim Thome do you? nah, it was something very similar to what B. Bell responsibilities. i remember that i wrote that i didn't care if the old regime like it or not, it was an extra eyes and talent adviser to help the farm.

you know what i wish for this past week, esp when the article came out and talked about the sox and the mess. well, i wish the fans had a ear in that front office and hear the discussions of what is being talked about esp from this site.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 05:02 PM) People forget how overrated he was. Should've won at least another SB. Didn't give Payton the ball on goal line. Gave it to Fridge. the bears should have had 2 more SB... the defense was the team... the bears had a horrible offensive coordinator. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 04:59 PM) Not an ozzie fan but don't know how you could conceivably argue Ditka over him. first, Ditka was the first championship in some many yrs, second, i really don't like Ozzie, so i am being biased. at least i admit it. -

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 03:57 PM) The bolded parts of your comment are pretty ill-informed. The Sox turned Peavy, a backend of the rotation pitcher, into a a guy who could be in the middle of the Sox order for the next several years. Sure, Avi has struggled the last few weeks, but c'mon man. Eaton has also struggled, but I wouldn't call that trade a failure just yet. Reed? The dude is about to get expensive and isn't even a closer anymore? Hardly a bad trade..hasn't really worked out for either club. Salary dump Robertson? GTFO. let me on the bold, Arz got immediate rtn on reed. while the sox are hoping to see some rtn on davidson. i don't see how you can say it was a good trade. ref ..... Hahn and the draft .... i need to see next yr and how things turn out. so far it is undecided. -

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 02:31 PM) Does anyone have confidence in the three-headed brain trust of Jerry, Kenny, and Rick to turn around the fortunes of this franchise and deliver results unlike those we've seen in the past decade or for most of their 13 years working together? it is more like the 2 headed monster with Hahn still outside looking in. it will always be the 2 in my book until we know this is Hahn's show. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 03:58 PM) Dale Tallon did pretty well building most of the current core. i have been trying to type the same blasted thing, but the computer failed. i think Tallon did the main draft of this current team and including bringing in Sharp and Hossa. -
didn't Hahn just hired some sort of office exec this offseason. i remember posting about how 1 person will doing the same thing Bell is doing but with no title.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 01:00 PM) This case is even more complicated because of the involvement of the FBI, interstate commerce (actually, international, because you're talking about financial transactions affecting players in Latin America, Asia, Canada, etc.) and the Sherman Anti-Trust exemption for baseball's "monopoly" as the national pastime. excellent point that is what i have been hedging on. obvious you nailed on the head, i just couldn't think of a way to put it. there is a whole set of rammificatins that we, as fans will not be able to imagine.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 11:36 AM) http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/white-...t-deal-thursday This is the best we're going to get. Trying to piggyback off the Blackhawks' success by selling fans $15 tickets if they wear their hockey gear to the ticket booth to order for Thursday's game after the parade. I wonder if they'll even get 100? 150? 200? It won't be worth the column space devoted to it. If they had wanted to do something really cool, they'd just let all those celebrating fans in for free as a public service. Is the Stanley Cup actually going to be there like it was at Wrigley at least, and some of the players? great idea make that a sat family deal. mon price specials. sunday - ticket specials for wear an sox jersey of your sox player. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 07:40 AM) The Blackhawks are a breath of fresh air. Two or three superstars which is awesome and a formula for success. Very good goalie, or at least a goalie who must be ultra competitive cause he's always awesome in the playoffs. A very good coach. And some very good supporting cast members who contribute here and there. I'm only a playoff hockey fan (only follow scores and standings during regular season) and a fan of all Chicago teams except the Cubs (I can't bring myself to accept a Cubs title) but the Blackhawks took us casual playoff fans on a great ride through each round again this postseason. i will second that.
