QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Apr 30, 2015 -> 12:14 AM) Adams out already after 1.2 innings. 6 runs, but only 1 earned after 3 errors. Had to be a frustrating outing, but seems like a quick hook. soph jinx... he will pull out of it. i have faith.

  3. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 10:43 PM) For the comp rounds? is there a minimum offer or value for that round all the way thru 10 rnds??
  4. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 09:58 PM) I can't see anyway the Sox take a high schooler at #8. The Sox have only taken one high school player (Hawkins) with their top pick since 2001. I think they will go get someone at a discount. The draft is pretty deep in that the guy you draft at #30 will grade out about the same as the guys you draft at #8. There are three players that are viewed a little higher, but then it seems there is a mass of players that could go at any time in the rest of the first round. I think the Sox find a college guy that will cut them a break and roll the money saved out to some high schoolers later in the draft. I like the idea of DJ Stewart, probably the best college bat in the class, limited defensively, but should be able to play above average LF in the pros. for my point, i like your thought process..... however i disagree with DJ Stewert. i will respond to my ideas later... QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 10:01 PM) Thats wasting a pick and whatever you had to trade to get the pick. Aiken has no reason to sign now, he can complete his rehab and come back in the draft as a junior with a chance to be a top 5 guy again if his recovery goes well. If you are going to take a chance on him, draft him in the tenth round. excellent
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 10:12 PM) At some point, I hope the front office does plan on bringing a "above average" defender into the fold....and one who can also hit (consistently) as well, would help. As for the pitcher's build comments, it's always there....it was with Gio and Stroman, there are some who are concerned with Dillon Tate as well (and he's not "tiny" by any stretch of the imagination). I was just reading the early early 2016 draft speculation and one of the top pitchers is compared to Tate stuff-wise, and praised specifically for this very reason, the assumption of a more durable frame. Of course, it also wouldn't surprise me if someone like Tyler Kolek never makes it to the majors at all, with the "perfect" pitcher's frame in the minds of scouts (maybe too bulky for others). http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/pro...p?P=tyler-kolek Doing okay, but lousy peripherals and the SAL is one of the two "lower" full season A ball leagues. nice.....
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 11:00 PM) Off-duty, unregistered handgun, firing over his shoulder at a crowd because he "feared for his life" from a man with a cellphone. here's the quotes from the superintendent: the one thing that bug me was, he followed them, while being off duty and shoot over his shoulder. and what happen if one of the strays kill an innocent elderly person, who was walking to the residents door. this is the second part that is killing me, no pun intended. shooting over his shouolder.....why follow them. i know, he must have been in fear for his car.
  7. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 10:07 PM) e.g., with some pretty callous quotes from the police superintendent thrown in for good measure. out of all that, i only see a couple of things that i have a problem. the biggest is, so and this goes to an earlier discussion of salary for the cops.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 08:42 PM) I think this is the pitcher he's always been, a #3/#2 guy, who doesn't have an ace repertoire but who will get himself into a groove for 10+ starts at some point this season. you may be right, i just went to B/R and looked at his stats. i compared it many ways and finally his career slits by the month. i really woke up to what i saw. last yr was a great yr for him. just putting that out there.
  9. Alonzo Jones | 2B | HS the fastest player in the draft is the latest of injured players going into this yr draft. his speed is rated 80 out of 80. http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/jones...delined-injury/
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 07:38 PM) I think the going rate for pitchers like him is right around 9 figures, but then I significantly overestimated Shields's contract last offseason. i really think, i overrated Shark this yr.
  11. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 06:58 PM) Let's say that the Sox trade for a comp pick and it fall in the 33-39 range, I would draft Aiken and offer him $1M, Kiley McDaniel said that a lot of teams consider him undraftable. i think the minimum the team can offer is the minimum for that slot. which i do not know. it is in the CBA for the draft cap. which i think it is.

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 05:11 PM) Well, he HAS the power - saw it in ST. But, most likely, he's making some major compromises to get more contact. I'll stop before I start making broad brush statements on our hitting development. remember, the sox hitting coach worked with him in spring training, if i remember correctly.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 05:52 PM) Mitchell all the way down to .050. Has 2 hits on the year. Striking out nearly half the time. And reports of less than stellar attitude. Let's start an over/under on the date he's released. I'll start with May 15. that was the same attitude he had when some coaches was trying to help him. release him he might do more harm to the team b/c of his attitude.
  15. QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 07:30 PM) You can't clean up the house when there is a shortage of applicants. You can clean up the house when there is a mile long waiting list of qualified applicants. let me see if i got this right, there are some crooked cops, the IA knows of this, but since there is a shortage of good applicants, ergo you won't do anything..
  16. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 05:15 PM) Why did this game not start at like 11:00? Play the game and get the hell out of there. great idea.... i wish i knew the answer. it should be a great question to ask the prof sports people.
  17. i don't know. i think many are really avoiding the point. the f***ing house is f***ed up. fix it before it gets worse. make all the excuses you want, there are great people working on those PD, but they are getting painted black b/c of f***ed up cops.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 06:02 PM) His pitch count was very low. You can only protect him so much. its not the pitch count somethings. it has to be about building confidence and thru that winning games. 5 innings is good enuf, esp in the beginning of the season. stretch them out come may
  22. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 05:03 PM) Not really the point I'm making. I'm saying that for a job so dangerous, if you want really good candidates, you can't offer them a low salary and crappy benefits. i am saying, not you, but the argument is more money for the salary. screw that. do a in house cleaning first, then go out and find candidates to fill those spots. in time the rest will take care of itself. clean the house first!!!!!
  23. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 04:45 PM) You have to care. Why would I risk my life for 40k and crappy benefits if I can make more elsewhere? Answer: I wouldn't...so you can take the people that would, instead. as a person who is applying for the job, you, the rhetorical you, should know what the salary will be including benefits, it was your decision right there to make it, if the pay wasn't enuf, then don't fill out the application.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 05:53 PM) Lakso said Black's error should have been a double play. Not excusing Johnson for a bad inning, but it's a factor. nah, the factor is/was the coach should have started the pen. regardless.
