  2. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Apr 13, 2015 -> 03:28 PM) Probably not Rodon. But almost certainly two and possibly three of Anderson, Danish, Montas and Adams. might as well include Hawkins and Fry. too much either way, just need to address that in the offseason. last yr, at the end of the yr stats, Conor was 18 in all of the 3b's stats. it is still not a bad point, but compare it to the hitting power yeah i can see it. http://mlb.mlb.com/stats/sortable.jsp#elem=[object+Object]&tab_level=child&click_text=Sortable+Player+hitting&game_type=%27R%27&season=2014&season_type=ANY&league_code=%27MLB%27&sectionType=sp&statType=hitting&page=1&ts=1428938989877&position=%275%27&playerType=QUALIFIER&sportCode=%27mlb%27&split=&team_id=&active_sw=&page_type=SortablePlayer&sortOrder=%27desc%27&sortColumn=h&results=&perPage=50&timeframe=&last_x_days=&extended=0
  3. QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 13, 2015 -> 02:51 PM) I was really hoping Longoria was a trade target this offseason. He would be one of the few players I wouldnt mind giving up a bit for in terms of prospects. Eaton Cabrera Longoria Abreu LaRoche Avi Alexei Soto Johnson That would be a dangerous lineup but at what cost??? do the sox really have the bodies to pull this trade off??

QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Apr 13, 2015 -> 03:20 PM) I think Strasburg has (or at least had around the time of his debut) a 90mph change to go along with a high-90s fastball, too. haha... again, i never realize, with the speed of the change-up being that fast, that it would really matter. again, there is many things in pro ball that i am not knowledgeable on. thank for the insight.
  9. QUOTE (staxx @ Apr 13, 2015 -> 02:45 PM) Soto will be the starter within the next 2 weeks. 3B is a premium position that would have costed a ton of money, or ton of prospects to improve this past offseason. Hahn already pushed the envelope with the $$$ and did a ton, he can't fix EVERYTHING. 3B will be a target at the deadline if we're in it. in the offseason, i was and still a huge advocate of the sox FO not going out and making this team prepared for this season. the thing is we as fans has many more eyes and opinions on how to fix a team. with that, Hahn and the FO did do a hell of a job and fixing it. was it complete, maybe. this team strength, from last yr, are not producing, yet. we as fans need to have some faith, and give this team a chance to get it going. they will rock, of this i am sure.
  10. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Apr 13, 2015 -> 02:55 PM) http://www.milb.com/milb/multimedia/ $50/year gives you a hell of a lot of games to watch. many thanks, i didn't know this existed.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 13, 2015 -> 01:54 PM) Velocity-wise, the effectiveness of a change-up is about differential between it and the fastball. 10 mph is a good number for that. really??? i didn't know that. i know the 10 mph difference, but i thought it was meant for the pitch to be in the high 70's - 80's mph,., i was just wondering, me and my thinking again. thanks
  12. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Apr 12, 2015 -> 12:37 AM) This deserves some more interest, c'mon now with the thoroughness of the report, how can anyone say anything but "wow" it was great rpt, second, on weekends, it is really hard to get a good response from the others, again this is my opinion. keep up the good work

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 13, 2015 -> 01:40 PM) Injury, no word as to nature of injury yet. Hit 100 with the fastball. His change-up was 90, lol. with the speed of the change-up, will it really fool the hitter?? his change-up is as fast as some pitchers fastball. lol
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 13, 2015 -> 01:18 PM) https://sports.yahoo.com/news/10-degrees--t...743146-mlb.html Very good Passan article on the Dodgers' tv contract fiasco and its implications for the rest of baseball...specifically mentions the Cubs, but the White Sox deal is also coming up in 2019 no matter now.... the season started. i love to be informed, but i am still hyped on this team. the one thing i really hate, esp with how the tv/media is making baseball have more exposure, the sox can't have their minor league teams televised. i mean, as baseball is promoting the season package, why couldn't the sox ownership group come up with a complete sox package of their minor system. the sox have great prospects, i am sure many would love to see them play. ok, let them do the home games only.
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 13, 2015 -> 12:56 AM) Garcia is going to be special. He's a workaholic that truly cares. has anyone really look at Jose A approach every time he is up to bat. the great hitter do this, he break down his swing. he studies every aspect of his swing. when he follows thru, he stops and see or tried to see his body position. great hitter does that. now, if Avi and others can follow his approach, whether they can replicate the success is another story, but the preparation, they will do better than before.

  18. whew.... i can post again in the soxtalk. sox won.
  19. QUOTE (lilnicky @ Apr 11, 2015 -> 07:26 PM) do you think this team came out of spring training ready? if it's going to take a month into the season to be sharp against your own division they are in big trouble... i am thru.... sox won.
  20. QUOTE (lilnicky @ Apr 11, 2015 -> 07:47 PM) yo i didn't say gibson would lose a game,i personally don't think ventura is prepared as a manager and the sox scouting doesn't impress me at all when it came to the royals series. why keep throwing fast balls to a fast ball hitting team? then your comment of this team not being prepared is false. i would accept that there are several layers of being prepared and etc..... to say that Robin is not prepared while Gibson would.... again how do you know this to be true. if you meant it as sarcasm, then we the posters use green... anyway, you implied that the loosing is robin not being prepared and as a default, Gibson would be prepare, then by default, Gibson would never loose a game. you spelled it out, all that is tangible is there, it is simple logic.
  21. QUOTE (lilnicky @ Apr 11, 2015 -> 06:00 PM) Is Kirk Gibson available? I wouldn't mind seeing him as manager any thoughts? Otherwise somebody out there like that comes prepared every game with a plan on how to beat the opposition unlike Ventura... how go you know that is the situation??? so are you going to tell me kirk gibson will never loose a game??? give me a break on what you are spouting.
  22. QUOTE (Lillian @ Apr 11, 2015 -> 04:51 PM) It just might turn out to be a blessing. If this team really has the talent we think it has, this will be a chance for it to show its true meddle. It's going to be a real test of their character. If the roster is lacking, particularly in the bullpen, there is plenty of time to fix it. In either case, they can't be as bad a they look so far. it can build character
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 11, 2015 -> 05:06 PM) I said this in the game thread yesterday. If you're going to call a guy up who has 1 year above A-ball you're going to expect errors on the basepaths and other mental errors. The greatest coach in human history isn't going to change that. Young guys get called up and make mistakes. If they weren't willing to overlook some mental errors from Micah and still called him up then Micah isn't the problem, management is. Hell, for yesterday's baserunning throwout, he was on 2b with 1 out and Abreu was on deck. He shouldn't have had the green light anyway. That one hangs on the dugout too, the manager shouldn't have given him the green light to even try. The dugout can't act like he's 29 year old Ricky Henderson with a complete book on every single pitcher in the league and how to recognize their pickoff moves until he's actually seen some of them. hell this is the exactly the same thing i was talking about, when the big thread on vince coleman being hired on the base running coach or what ever he is. the sox will either live and on this situation die by being aggressive. edit..... btw how many seasons has MJ had at second base... meaning of pro ball. mistakes will happen. it is a given. it is sooo much highlighted b/c of the loosing streak.
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 11, 2015 -> 05:32 PM) http://www.baseballprospectus.com/odds/ind...gs_sort=adjppct Maybe this will make you feel better... nah not really. it actually made it worst..... that is unless i am not reading it right.
  25. excellent post, i love the research you did to come up with the conclusion you did. it goes higher than the manager and even Hahn. the sox failure to invest into putting a good product on the field and all the blind loyalty they get as a free pass. the sox org, has never really cared about that, as long as they get fans in the stands. however i do have to say, that the org is trying to right a sinking ship of mismanagement, wrong decision makings. that can not be done over nite, but i still think that the sox should have fielded their A team more to work on the everyday course of playing ball. again. excellent post.
