QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 02:27 PM) It's more than two Adolfos, it's like ten or twelve guys, unless you think they'll go bonkers this year and get a bunch of the OTHER top guys too since it's their last chance. let me go further by adding, the sox is in a nice position, great foundation of above average prospects, now they need to get as many players in the org. you also have a chance to get a heralded prospect for $$$. ok, blow thru the spending limits which you may have to, to sign the young talent and go hog crazy in the int't market. sign all that you can. you are going to get penalize, might as well be for something big. it is the same penalty regardless of what you spend.

QUOTE (spiderman @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 02:17 PM) I'm guessing that not every pitcher is as easily fixed as Duke was. Old habits are hard to break. To be honest, if Danks can pitch close to 200 IP again, as a #5 starter, how does he rank compared to others around the AL? Granted, he was signed to be a #2 or #3 starter, but this is what we have. first has to come from the coaches who saw that it can be done or that there was a problem that needed to be fix. second is to convince the pitcher. now for the sox, can coop see that this might help????

QUOTE (beautox @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 02:16 PM) Thanks Agreed no one knows exactly what the sox intentions are with Tomas, but Hahn has said numerous times that they want a young, left handed power bat for the outfield. Yeah I hope Fernandez comes out unscathed as well once he is cleared i feel alot of the market will have dropped one way or another and the sox are able to wait because they have three in house options for second base outside of Fernandez, where as other teams are going to need to figure out what the hell they're doing in signing the likes of lowrie and cabrera. those comments from Hahn may have change with other fa's signing. I am looking at the reevaluation of those wishes and address them accordingly. if Tomas is the best options, then the sox will need to address lh hitting for the DH.

LDF replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Diamond Club
this was my wish list. it may not reflect with how the sox brass is thinking. I was looking at the quality of the pitchers regardless of left or right hand throwing. he has a track record of success, is a winner that is what the sox need. -

QUOTE (beautox @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 02:15 PM) I agree that none of the cubans outside of possibly Jose Fernandez will have an immediate big league impact and that Tomas isn't what Hahn wants for this club. '15 is our dark horse year if things come together and we're a year ahead of the time line great, if not no big deal we weren't supposed to be ready yet. I think Moncada would be perfect as well and lines up nicely with the perceived future of this franchise. Both Moncada and Anderson should be ready by opening day '16 if not both a potential call up in september. If the sox don't go big this offseason they would be well served going all in for Moncada and possibly Fernandez, the only impact bats next year on the right side of 30 are Justin Upton (right handed) and Jason Heyward and both are going to cost a ton. I honestly think Hahn will do more than kick the tires on Moncada and Fernandez this year. 100+Mil for Panda doesn't seem very palpable. Our '16 core could be a bright spot for a long time to come. DH -? C - ? 1B - Abreu RH 2B - Fernandez LH / Semien RH / Sanchez SH / Johnson LH SS - Anderson RH 3B - Moncada SH LF - Garcia RH CF - Eaton LH RF - ? SP - Sale SP - Quintana SP - Rodon SP - Montas / Danish / Adams / Noesi / FA SP - Montas / Danish / Adams / Noesi I could see that you really thought a lot for this post. very nice. there are a couple of problems I see, no knows what the sox intentions are with Tomas. however this is a forum where fans can post what on their mind and as I said you really did a nice job. Second is Jose Fernandez. I hope he emerge from where ever he is and comes out healthy. reading more on Jose A and Puig escape, those who are using the smugglers, this is a dangerous trip. so when he show up, he will need to get posted and all that.

QUOTE (Lillian @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 12:39 PM) This discussion has been a lot of fun, and you guys have provided some very good, thoughtful analysis. From my perspective, and to summarize, it seems the Dodgers are seeking to accomplish the following: Moving Danks and his contract, is a benefit to the Sox, not the Dodgers. If he is included in the deal, the Sox would have to provide another benefit to the Dodgers. I don't think that the Sox have any expendable players, in whom L.A. would have interest. Therefore I don't see that happening. At this point, Danks may be considered a #4 starter, with the added benefit of being LH. Lefties who can eat innings are always in demand. I would think that there might be some team interested in swapping their #3, or 4 RH starter for Danks. If there were no significant difference in the contracts, that might be a realistic match. I really like the way you summarize it. key point. the sox will not get immediate help. the idea of the trade is to a. fill holes without loosing too much. b. by filling those holes those players will step in. ala right away.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 10:32 AM) The problem is that none of those Cubans are going to give us the impact offensively that will justify Abreu +++ money. Tomas, it just doesn't fit. Moncada would be perfect, if we didn't need to allocate that money over these next two offseasons in order to have a contender out of the gate in 2016. He's a luxury/gamble that about 6-8 big market teams can take right now, and the White Sox aren't one of them...not with their current broadcast rights deal. It's going to be a case of the rich getting richer, unfortunately. while fans are just assuming everything from a limited source of a scouting report, we has fan do not have the luxury of really seeing him nor reading a full scouting rpt. no one would have guess the success of Jose A. so with every Jose A the downside will be DV kind of growth. doesn't this kind success seems resemble the success of a drafted player?

QUOTE (beautox @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 10:04 AM) I'm not against signing him, I would prefer Morales even with his down year because he'll be cheaper but both of these players markets I would assume will be slow to develop. That should allow Hahn to check in on all of the recent cuban defectors that should be cleared by the OFAC in the not too distant future as well as Maeda provided he gets posted. I was in on Morales in a big way, this was before Hahn made the mention of the Sox could compete and the sox paying for talent. this doesn't really make sense in how I am trying to compose this. the point is while I like the gamble of getting Morales and dealing with his agent, will he be the best option here. this is a gamble in many ways for some savings and a seeing if he can rebound. I will need to see if the sox address the sp / rp.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 04:54 AM) $60? I'll eat Dick Allen's shoes if that happens. I should be careful.... $60 seems reasonable b/c Hahn even said they might spend a more than anticipated.

QUOTE (striker @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 03:27 AM) Pederson and Ethier for Montas and Ramirez straight up. Sox get their LF and DH (that can play all 3 OF positions). LAD dumps Ethier, unclogs their OF, gets a SS and a prospect with surplus value. hmmmm no.
-
QUOTE (peavy44 @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 03:16 AM) I DON'T wanna trade Alexei and Seager probably be at third base. whew..... temper there. I am just answering your post. chill and take an enema.

QUOTE (MDWhiteSoxFan @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 03:16 AM) Morse played 84 games in the OF last year and some at 1st. Too me I don't want either playing OF everyday and would prefer Morse as he hits both RHP and LHP well. Where Ethier struggles against LHP. I feel like they offer the same tools power bat, mostly DH with some position versatility. That's what I mean they are the same. the only way for the sox to look at Ethier is b/c of a trade. edit .... if there is no trade with the dodgers, I really don't see the sox wanting him. but the trade has to be completely one side, in the sox favor.

QUOTE (MDWhiteSoxFan @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 02:09 AM) Yup that went right over my head haha. Sorry I work with kids all day little slow on the evenings at times yeah the same can be said for those in the House and Senate.

White Sox sign Zach Duke, 3 years, $15 million
LDF replied to oneofthemikes's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 03:11 AM) So Zach Duke is " Trading Places" from the Brewers to us. Randolph and Mortimer Duke would be proud. Obscure old movie reference brought to you by Eddie Murphy and Dan Akroyd, Don Ameche, Ralph Bellamy and Jamie Lee Curtis. I like it. a great movie and a great place to say that. -
QUOTE (peavy44 @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 03:07 AM) Kemp I think 100 plus million and elvis andrus is 8 years 120 million I believe and you don't think Tex will not extract their pound of flesh from the Dodgers? then what will Seager do in 2 yrs when he is ready to take over SS? Tex wants to get cheaper without loosing too much talent as the replacement.

QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 02:41 AM) wasn't there suppose to have been an update on Tomas and his movement today? I am dying here. I need news from the Cuban front.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 02:59 AM) Wat. me I been drinking, so from my frame of mind, I understood it.
-
QUOTE (peavy44 @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 03:01 AM) The Dodgers will just sign SS or trade MATT KEMP FOR ELVIS andrus trading any of those OF'ers will be easier said than done. not with those salaries.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 02:49 AM) At the very least, you need to give them a really good reason not to try to compete for the central right now. there is one thing no one is thinking about. Season thickets.

QUOTE (peavy44 @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 02:55 AM) Mets called to did a deal get done no unless RH is blow away no deal will be done. Mets and I would bet money on this, tried to low ball the sox with somebody like Colon...... yeah right. be there, done that, no thanks.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 02:50 AM) Yet they are calling about him. Strange huh? nice.
-
QUOTE (peavy44 @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 02:49 AM) Seager is the Dodgers SS they don't need alexei. Seager is about 2 yrs from taking over. that is what I read. it also mentioned something like if he is ready sooner, break him in at 3b. correct me, was that discussed on this site or am I imagining it????
-
QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 01:18 AM) Problem is that Alexei is not worth any of the Dodgers top three. If you had Pederson, Seager, Urias would you be willing to trade any of them for Alexei? I sure as hell would not. If the Sox are ever going to move Alexei, now is the time. He's coming off of a great year and has two years of his contract remaining. That's good value. The longer the Sox wait the less value his contract holds and the more of a chance he has at regressing and decreasing his value further. The sox do need to make a decision on Alexei based on those two things plus, if they decide to hold onto him there's no guarantee they get compensation if he goes to FA. The Sox do not have to trade Alexei but they do need to make a decision on his future with the team. Don't wait til his regression has begun and then try to trade him. Seager or Urias might just do it for me. I don't know. I agree the sox don't need to trade him he will be more valuable for the sox until Anderson is ready to take over.
