  1. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 01:58 AM) What does that mean.....? for me, the road to the world series, with several WS rings and a Dynasty. but again that is me.
  2. I think I am crazy in coming back to this thread. I am more than sure the sox / Hahn kick the tires on the Mets and what they can or what the sox wants for a rtn on a trade. but they have a very good variety of prospects, arms and hitters. I would prefer a trade with them than the Dodgers. the Dodgers have arms and an expensive OF'er.
  3. QUOTE (Baron @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 01:01 AM) I honestly dont know how many times this needs to be repeated to outside fans. The White Sox have zero reason to trade him EXCEPT a package worth it in weight of players. Otherwise they can hand onto him until Anderson is ready. The situation is perfect for us right now. Either get a really good package or have a really good option at SS. I am with you on this. but I really think the mods and admins are also on this as well. to me it sound like a closing statement. that then again, what the hell do I know. peace.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 12:41 AM) If the White Sox don't get an elite prospect back for Alexei Ramirez there remains zero reason to move him. Moving Alexei for anyone basically guarantees we're making the team worse in 2015. Nearly impossible to replace his production via a reasonably priced FA and whatever guy we get back would likely be a rookie and thus likely would need time to adapt to the league. It's very nearly throwing in the towel on 2015. The only reason we'd have to do that is if someone makes us significantly better in ~2016 through the trade. I don't know. I am crazy in love with pitchers. they have 3 or 4 pitchers I would kill for. 3 Cubans. each are different and can fill majors hole that sox have. they really don't have hitter outside the tope 3 and #10. I wonder how their int'l prospects are looking like.
  5. QUOTE (MDWhiteSoxFan @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 12:40 AM) Hey everyone! I've been checking this site out periodically probably since the trade deadline and finally decided to sign up. Where I am I get virtually 0 Chicago White Sox coverage. But the other day I was trying to think of moves that made sense to me. I am not a huge WAR guy I don't know what all of it means. I would like to get more into that stuff as I would like to be more into baseball haha. Also not sure on if we have the cap for the moves but here's what I got. Sign Chase Headley 3B, Michael Morse 1B DH OF. Headley gives us a good glove and a switch hitter for the corner. Morse can hit both left and right handed pitching well plus has position versatility. ~1. -Trade John Danks for Carl Crawford and salary relief. ME personally prefer Ethier but I felt he would be close to the same player as Morse except he is a lefty. Crawford gives us some speed on the bases, a left handed bat, and to my knowledge a decent glove (again not a numbers) to rotate in the outfield. Line up would look like this C- Tyler Flowers 1B- Jose Abreau 2B- Carlos Sanchez 3B- Chase Headley SS- Alexei Ramirez RF-Avisail Garcia CF- Adam Eaton LF- Carl Crawford DH- Michael Morse ---------------- Connor G Adrian Nieto Leury Garcia Marcus Semien Dayan Viciedo (likely traded just not sure for what) ~2. - Sign Edinson Volquez Sale Quintana Volquez Noesi Bassit until Rodon is ready I started and didn't finish but I like the offense not sure salary wise it would work. But just wanted to say hey and give my thoughts on what I feel would be an awesome off season haha welcome, welcome to the best forum of baseball and posters with a great bunch of mods and admin's. ref: 1. not enuf of a rtn. 2. truly my #2 A+ pitchers I would love to have in a sox uni 3. I just like your thoughts. keep them coming. edit ...... I gotttssss to ask. where you work. is the adress is 1600?
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 06:22 PM) Our AFL review is up. This was written by our newest writer, Will Siskel. Lots of great stuff here. wow, a great article and extremely well written..... i am envious of his command of the King's language. only i advise. too bad the age of the prospect wasn't added. either way keep up the great work all.
  7. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 12:22 AM) So Arruebarrena is a slight improvement over Leury? Yikes, never mind. OK, new bucket of s*** to throw at the wall. Tell the Dodgers Gordon and Schebler for Alexei. for me, when i first saw this a 1/2 hr ago, i was dumbfounded. bottom line ....... no freaking way. i can see why it, at first look good, nah.
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 12:23 AM) That's a monstrosity of a commitment and I'm just not sure the Sox are ready for it. If he didn't mind being a full time player - part-time outfielder, part time DH - it gets a little more bearable, and if you can work Danks into the deal somehow, it makes a little more sense, and then you can maybe include a couple of prospects and get a little money and maybe you're cooking with something. Otherwise, it's just hard for me to fit that peg into the White Sox hole (that's what she said) and size never really matter.
  9. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 12:05 AM) A high strikeout, high walk slugging lefty 1B/DH. What could possibly go wrong? ummmm sound a lot like who?
  10. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 12:10 AM) LA would riot like there was a second Rodney King verdict. Looking at a Danks-Kemp swap as the basis of a trade, the Sox would need to add much more talent and LA would have to add some cash. Seager isn't going anywhere. He's going to be a star and the Dodgers don't need to move him. ohhhh that is too funny. i like it like that. (latin allstars song) but with ref to what you wrote. that is the point i was trying to make. it is a better visualization to put name in those ideas.
  11. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 12:07 AM) I agree on the years. Would have preferred the third year as an option but let's face it, the last two years have not been pretty on the south side so its not the most attractive market to free agents if they are looking to win. VMart would be a prime example, IMO. For now, I see nothing but positive things from this. The Sox have made their first move, its a move that fills a void and it thankfully gives us fans something new to discuss. I refuse to look at this in a negative light. The pen needs help and Hahn has taken a step to help that. I'm a very happy Sox fan today. this first move is great, for me the other move that will be better, the other move is signing of an A+ pitcher or Tomas and or Yoan.
  12. this will be a great time to go and get a Luke Hochevar. edit ~~~ his upside to too good to pass.
  13. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 11:58 PM) I like what you say here and agree about Semien as well. What about something like Schebler and Arruebarrena for Alexei? To me, that sounds like a lot but I admit that I do not see Alexei's value the way most on this board do. This could be what's going on now. First the Mets, then the Yanks and now the Dodgers. Maybe Hahn is stirring things up a bit to see if a team will blow him away. Create a little bit of a bidding war. ' hell yeah, if he didn't do that, he is a fool, and he really doesn't strike me as being addled minded.
  14. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 11:51 PM) Fans are well within their right to criticize this signing. I like it because Duke is a better option than what the Sox currently have from the left side, the pen needs any/ all help it can get and at least Duke isn't some broken down pitcher on the mend looking for an opportunity. Could he be the next Downs? Sure, but he could also be a good back of the pen reliever as well. I'll let Duke determine that for me when he takes the mound in 2015. if i have a problem, it is prob the yrs. but screw that, this is a great signing. it opens up a whole realm of possibilities and how to address some other holes.
  15. here is an example of what some of the posters are saying. Kemp + a really good prospects. ok that is equal to this, Kemp + Corey Seager for Danks and an essentially nothing prospects. did i get this right? does anyone think the dodgers will do this?
  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 11:45 PM) Schebler also walked 8% of the time and struck out 19.6% of the time, both fairly reasonable numbers. He did it as a 23 year old. Here's what Marcus Semien did in the same league as a 22 year old: .290/.420/.483, 15 HR, 21 2B, 5 3B, 20 SB, 80% SB%, 17.4% BB%, 13.7% K% ...and some people here are talking about packaging Marcus Semien up like he's some two pump chump. I happen to really like Marcus Semien, but I think he's a slightly above average player at his peak, probably a .250/.330/.420 type of player with nice versatility around the field. I think Schebler is probably a similar OPS player but with fewer walks and more XBHs. Like I said, Schebler's a nice prospect. He's not nice enough to get Alexei when the White Sox are the ones who are holding all the leverage in these negotiations. jeeze this is like the other thread, some fans are really undervaluing Lexi and really undervaluing the fact of how great of a position the sox are. the sox are holding all the cards. they can and will extract the most that they can.
  17. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 11:34 PM) .280 BA, .365 OBP, 28 HR, 14 3B and 23 2B doesn't jump out at you? You are difficult to please... I realize these numbers are from AA but still. back in the 90's a fan made a relatively chart that was unproven on how much of a drop off in the stats, when a prospect comes to the majors. so lets say conservatively ba 250-260 17-20 hrs 18 2b. now the starting line is there with a question, can or will he improve?
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 11:25 PM) Matt Kemp is due $21 million this year, and $21.5 million for each year from 2016 to 2019. John Danks is due $14.25 million for 2015 and 2016. That is a gap of 6.75 million this year, 7.25 million in 2016 and $64.5 million from 2017 to 2019. I am going to say that is about $80 million short of an "offset". another idea will be, will the dodgers include salary relief or not. if not, i wonder what is on the table in a sense of cost / prospects.
  19. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 11:10 PM) If I remember right, Schebler is that prospect that's on the way plus I think there's a kid in the lower minor levels as well. I think its possible we see something like Alexei and Danks for Schebler, one of Crawford/ Ethier and a low level prospect. bingo, the key wording here is the low level prospect, which i will hope with will be a pitcher. i hate to say this, but i rather forget Schebler if we can get pitchers. there are at least 2 who sound very intriguing in the 8-14 rated prospects. i really doubted that the dodgers will include Schebler b/c they are really high on him.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 05:48 PM) Depending on the numbers squeeze, who has options, who we sign, I wouldn't be heartbroken to see him open up at the AAA closer, but with his ceiling, I would rather see him getting on the job work in middle relief. I am prob crazy to open this can, but I am still saying the sox may have a 1 or 2 surprises in there systems as relievers. there and that is all.
  21. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 02:45 AM) http://www.truebluela.com/2014/10/13/69663...odgers-outfield from this article sounds like he's damn close to being ready. Pederson was the Pacific Coast League MVP in 2014 with Triple-A Albuquerque, hitting .303/.435/.582 with 33 home runs, 30 stolen bases and 100 walks. He was the first 30-30 player in the PCL in 80 years, and earned his first major league call-up when rosters expanded in September. He played in 18 of the Dodgers' 25 games in September, starting three games in center field. He was just 4-for-28 (.143) at the plate with 11 strikeouts, but also walked nine times and put up a .351 on-base percentage. Maybe the Dodger OF the Sox are interested in is Van Slyke. He had a really good year in limited AB's. if I remember the article, it stated that the dodgers FO wasn't excited about how he performed on the call up. so who knows. come spring he might be lights out.

  23. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 11:52 PM) Reclamation projects like Hochevar and Morrow hasn't been mentioned a lot around here. I think both can be had for around 1 year $5 mil deals. I think there is a good chance that either, if not both, will bounce back with the Sox. Hochevar, if comes back healthy from TMJ, can be a low cost option at closer. Morrow brings mid rotation stuff to the table, worst case he could be a useful piece in the bullpen. both?? maybe 1 and a regular starting pen guy who is healthy. 2 will put the sox behind the 8 ball. esp in the first month of the season when it is cold and windy, the team will need healthy arms and also remember the sox will not go with the 5 man rotation until 2 or 3 week of the new season.
  24. wasn't there suppose to have been an update on Tomas and his movement today?
  25. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 02:20 AM) I'm not disappointed because the Dodgers will have trouble moving Ethier, Crawford or Kemp unless they eat big money .If they want to move Ethier and Crawford have fun biting the bullet Dodgers and then Schebler still wouldn't be in their OF unless he passes up Pederson because of Joc's massive amount of K's. Considering Pederson was rated 34 of the top 100 prospects Schebler moving ahead of him isn't likely and as Chili said Verdugo rated higher also. damn, wasn't there an article on Pederson, he may not be ready next yr??? I may be wrong here but I can't remember the details. with the other OF'ers. as I have said, the dodgers need to move at least two of what they have, and they might be in a mode of urgency. I wonder what kind of package they can put together for the sox to bite and bail them out.
