QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 16, 2005 -> 09:09 PM) I'm open to a trade for Castillo but not at the cost of Marte. You need to look at the contract for this two. Castillo is an above avg NL 2B. Marte is one of the top LH setup men in the AL. Castillo will cost you betwen 10M/2yr or 16M/3yr. Marte will cost you betw 4M/2yr or 10M/4yr. Big difference. I'm keeping Marte. He's a proven AL guy. Castillo is still a hit or miss NLer. 1. if your were up to making a trade for marte, who would it be for 2. if you going to make a trade for castillo, who would you give up??

QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jan 16, 2005 -> 09:06 PM) Tough call, I am in the last year of my contract, so I probably couldn't bring in more than a couple of junior high posters.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 16, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) let them put the pieces of the puzzle into what they think is the right place before we start condemning anyone. i am a sox fan and i do not wear blinders and i have an opinion. some may not like what i say but oh well. i normal admit when i am or was wrong. here is mine opinion. i am not too sold on this yr team. granted and i can see how ozzie wants to turn the team around and i respect that. he is going with what he knows. i am not sold on the pitching and i want to asked this, should kw head rolled esp if the team doesn't perform as thought? -
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 16, 2005 -> 08:18 PM) I'm not unappreciative of what Marte can mean to this team, but .... I believe a guy like Castillo can mean so much more in the long run. Our bullpen is now a strength, and we can fill the 2nd base and 2nd slot in the order with a very quality player in Castillo. That's why, in the right deal, I wouldn't mind if we traded Marte. some players who may be at the highest level of worth, should or could be traded. this is by all mean not a slam against anyone personnally, but this is baseball esp now-a-days. marte if handle properly should bring in good prospects esp if he is not part of the long term picture. as an example when hsc was here, she and i and a hand full of others said that we should trade mags some 2 yrs ago. esp when we heard that he was not thinking of coming back here. we got into a lot of heated arguments on that. hind sight now. but the point is the sox wait till the last minute to resign or trade a player. be aggressive is what i am saying. that is why if a trade is being talked about, let explore the idea of loosing players like crede, marte or others, if the trade is a good one.

QUOTE(backman @ Jan 16, 2005 -> 05:27 AM) the guy has his whole team back, it simple for him, he wants to stay in school and play with a team that makes it easy for him, instead of going to the draft and ending up with a team were he could end up sitting on the sidlines all year, spend a yr on the bench, lets look at that down fall of a pict you are painting. prob will get pick as the #1 of the whole draft, earn how much $$$ mil, and most important gain financial security for him and his family. that is the lousy part of going into the draft. don't get me wrong, i am not judging him for or against, i commend him for his decision and wish him the best in 2005. -
QUOTE(Bullard @ Jan 16, 2005 -> 02:04 AM) i dont think that prediction is very accurate. i am pretty sure i will not be in Birmingham. The starters will most likely be BMAC, Tracey, Honel, Etc. Etc. hey how was your offeseason??? best of luck in 2005

QUOTE(Nokona @ Jan 16, 2005 -> 01:17 AM) Yeah, I was listening to that convo on AM 1000. Aaron said that Crede and Walker have been working the entire off season in Crede's new batting cage. Apparently they added a "trigger" to Joe's swing. I'm hoping for the best for the kid, I really do like him. so what is a "trigger" i never heard of this
-
is anyone sold on Andres Nocioni as a player???
-
why
-
with the list of player planning on stay another yr in college instead of coming out, this is going to make this weak draft even weaker. i can see the bears more than ever trading the pick.

Leinart likely to decide on his future tomorrow

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jan 15, 2005 -> 06:34 AM) Stunned. Leinart, the sure-fire #1 pick, passed on going pro to stick around one more year to go after not only his third consecutive National Championship (a feat the likes of which have never been seen) but also a second Heisman. Hats off to Mr. Leinart. I simply can not find fault in a kid's decision to pass up millions of dollars to stay in school, show loyalty, and make history. I wish there were more collegiate athletes like Matt. Here's hoping he doesn't get injured and earns the poll position in 2006. Class act. a great post on the kid, i just here and about the make a similar sounding post. i wish him a healthy yr!!!! -
liking in a different state, i would like some info 1. how many fans showed up, did they by any chance set a record of fan attendences? 2. what is the shape of j uribe. 3. was there any hints of any more trades coming in.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 14, 2005 -> 05:53 AM) That was Orlando's thinking in trading Mobley for Doug Christie. and by what the rumors are saying, a great clubhouse guy
-
i am in the thinking that the bulls may be looking for a good guy veteran presence esp if they continue to win and god forebid they start looking at the playoff spot. furthermore, a veteran who will help in grooming, and helping on the board. however i am looking at help at big sg or a big guy that can help at the pf/center position. gordon, as good as he is, is being eaten up by the bigger, quicker sg's.

LDF replied to chimpy2121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
he won championship games, is prob the #1 rated qb and player this yr and prob next yr and will prob be proj to go #1 next yr as well. however what happens if he injures himself. if it was me, i will go pro. this is a great example of why some players should enter any draft early.
