  1. Well we play 81 games here at home but thats not my point here. Konerko is the leader of this team without doubt trading your only real leader is not a good statement to make regardless of what you get in return. Would I like to have Randy sure who wouldnt but for the price no thanks. Also its alot easier to replace a 290 hitting 30 homer OF'er then a 40 Homer 100 RBI first basemen. I know alot of you seem to be real high on Gload and all but there is no way I replace PK with him you wanna talk about a major drop off look at that for a second and think about it. Maggs is gone, Thomas who the hell knows what to expect from him, carlos lee will do his norm but the rest of the lineup is suspect you cant afford to trade PK and play Gload in his place. Lee on the other hand has a better trade market then PK and he is easily replaced rather by Carl or another FA OF'er the production lee puts up really isnt that hard to find. OF'er are a dime a dozen. We can replace Lee production with no problem but can we replace PK leadership as easy???
  2. I dont like either of those trades I think were giving up to much for a 41 y/o rent-a-player imo. Another thing I dont understand is why is everyone so willing to trade PK over C-Lee if I were the GM considering the fact I have two highly touted minor league OF'ers maybe a year away I would be more inclined to move lee then I would Pk. I like Paulie he is the heart of this team one of the very few leaders we really have I think trading him Hurts us more then moving anyone else on the team.
  3. Of all the guys out there Clement ranks right up there for me. He is a stud with just sick s*** to throw at hitters plus he keeps the ball in the park.RJ would be nice to have but I dont want to blow our load on one guy we have many areas of need RJ would take up way too much money. Pavano is a one year wonder imo he may be good or he can be a total bust I just rather have some other team find that one out. Pedro would be nice even though he may have lost a little something over the years the hitters in the league still fear him but I thin he may cost us to much not to mention his arm problems. Radke I wouldnt even look at he is a bumm has one good year for 3 bad years. If I had the choice it would be not in anyorder here but clement, morris, woody williams, leiter
  4. One Guy nobody mentioned is Einar Diaz he plays solid defense and can hit best thing about him is he would be rather cheap 2
  5. I like the idea of Having Omar at SS his defense will more then make-up for any fall off in the offensive production at that position. The main thing everyone needs to understand is that Omar does all the little things great that is why for 4 million I have no problem with the pick-up "if " it happens. I think this would be a great start to the off-season shores up our infield perfectly. Someone here mentioned Dye and Hildago as our potential OF pick up god I hope that doesnt happen I cant stand Hildago he sucks I would rather have Dye then him but lets hope that we have neither, I couldn't watch another year pass with Dye being on the sidelines injured or Hildago hitting 230. As for Omar that I would love to see.
  6. I think Kenny just wanted to dump Loaiza More then anything else and might have been shocked that somebody even wanted his ass. Couple that with the fact that the Sox think they can fix Contreas and your see why he made the trade even with the yankthese only paying 2 million a year of his contract. I really think that Contreas will be very good this coming season for us I just have a good feeling about this trade that it will work out well for us.
  7. Rowand Is not the kinda of player you trade. He does everything and more that Ozzie could ever ask of him He is a true Grinder. As much as I would like to see Randy in our pinstripes I wouldnt think It would be in our best interest to trade Rowand being that he lead our team in avg. sb and given a full year of Ab's would hit 25+ hr's 90+ rbi's and steal 30 bases. The other problem with that trade that you suggest is we would be giving up Garland Who although he hasnt been great he would be a solid number 5 guy in our rotation I could careless about giving up minor leaguers cause they havent done anything at the big league level but thats just me. But the players your trying to offer for a aging stud pitcher is way to much. I would rather just get Kevin Brown for next to nothing and hope he stays healthy while I sit back and let the Yankthese pay his salary... It worth the gamble.
  8. What about Juan Gone He getting paid next to nothing and will be a FA at the end of the year.I know the risk here but if and yes it is a huge if he can stay healthy for the remainder of the year he would put up some monster numbers at the cell. He would easily make up Maggs production. We could slap him at DH and move everett in RF until Maggs or Thomas get back. I feel were gonna need another bat in order to win this thing and there are two very good ones out there for the taking and we should be trying like hell to grab one of either Boone or Gonzo we really need the bat.
  9. I know we have willie and Uribe playing 2nd right now but with mags and thomas seeming to be gone for the season Why not Grab Boone for next to nothing. We could lock him in at second move willie over to CF and Rowand over to RF. Boone has hit 330 5hr 19 rbi's since june 17. He would provide power and great D at 2nd base to make up for the loss of power from Maggs going down. Just a thought, I know he had a bad 1st half and all but he was playing through injuries and family problems during that time. I think he would be a great pick up and would cost us nothing in return maybe a second tier minor leaguer thats it.
  10. They are trying to get the most pitches out of him, cause they have no faith in their bullpen. Livan has pitched deep in many games this year and has thrown alot of pitches. I have the guy in my Fantasy baseball league and I for one would love to have him here in chicago he's a great undervalued pitcher.... Think about Colon with better pure stuff thats Livan he has great stuff & great endurance. That is exactly the kind of pitcher we need a guy to eat up innings and do so while also being a good pitcher this man is the guy we need here plain and simple
  11. Going off what the brew crew has done in the past and the fact that they are currently not a contender ( you must be a foll If you think they are ) they are willing to listen to offers for Sheets. In my statement I didnt not say that he was on the market what I did say is if the Sox were to trade away top line talent it would be a for a SP ala Ben Sheets / Freddy Garcia. For your infromation sheets is on the market incase you havent been keeping up on your Baseball info maybe you should invest sometime doing reserch before opening your big mouth!!! The brewers are shoping him quitely gauging what they would be able to get for a player they know they cant afford to keep much longer, what the rule of business oh thats right SELL HIGH do you really feel Sheets value has EVER been higher then what it is right now???? As for the whole Finely thing I didnt say I wanted him instead I said I would NOT want him, or you know what I said we dont need him that was in response to the numerous amount of psters on here who were sayiong we should trade for him. Please next time you make a comment about what i write read the dam statement fully before opening your mouth in order to avoid your foot getting stuck in you mouth again...
  12. You know I was reading this thread and to be real honest alot of you guys make no sense. First thing as much as I like Beltran it makes no sense for us to even consider trading for him. Our biggest weakness is pitching that being said we need to concentrate all trade efforts on picking up a solid 1 or 2 type SP. With Willie playing CF i really dont see CF as much of a need. Everyone in here seems to be disagreeing about who they rather have between two guys that IMO arent worth the trouble to get. Beltran would cost the Sox to much in terms of talent and salary owed over the remainder of the season so you can forget about him. Finely isnt worth getting he has been hot of late but the guy is 40 years old and is clearly playing over his skill lvl. I would much rather see the Sox pick-up a Sp ala Ben Sheets or Freddy Garcia then either of these two hitters our team has plenty of bats with more bats ready to go in the minors. If we are going to give up alot of talent in term of minor league players for a player I would look for that guy to Ben Sheets not Garcia or Beltran or Finely with Sheets he would be here for the next 2-3 years as for the others they would only be here for the next 4-5 months makes no sense in my book. Another thing those of you who really think that the sox will trade for beltran and lock him up long term are smoking the good s*** cause Boras will not allow that to happen even if he did what would make you think the sox would spend the money on beltran when they clearly dont want to spend the money on Maggs who has been here since the start. It will never happen, The sox will make a move but it will be for a pitcher not a hitter and if they do make a move for a hitter expect it to happen in july not now
  13. I dont know why everyone or maybe I should say most of you guys want CC. I would much rather have Sheets, He has been lights out all year long. Also the chances of the indians trading us their best pitcher just so he can turn around and beat them are very low..Of the guys out there Sheets would be the guy to get... You really dont want to have to many LHP in your rotation we already have 2 CC would not be a good fit where as sheets would be ideal.
  14. only way this happens is if Anna benson is giving KW some ass on the side....
  15. The indians will NOT trade cliff lee so you could get that out of your head right now. The sox will get Garcia and yes I would love Livan or Ohka but we dont have the the time to sit back and wait around for them. Garcia will be just fine here in Chicago.
  16. Of all the players on that list many of them are not even close to the radar screen for the sox. The sox dont want to take on guys who have HUGE contracts for more then one year ala Randy Johnson / Tom Glavine forget about it wont happen. We should be loooking more on the line of Freddy Garcia who makes like 6 mil but seattle would pick up some of his pay.
  17. Been a while since I posted but saw this post and just wanted to agree that Armas would be a great pick up for the SOX he price would be low which then would allow us to go after a better LH power hitter. At 2 mil for Armas we would then be able to take on about another 5-7 million in a GOOD lh power hitter to break up our never ending righty connection.
  18. WHo knows the Name of the league on yahoo and the pass so I can get started If anything Email me at c0cky0ne@sbcgolbal.net or c0cky0ne@yahoo.com. You could just post the info here as well so we can get this thing kicked off. If there is no Commish I will be willing to do it I have run many FBL in the past so it would be fine. The Godfather
  19. When do we find out the league names and the password to get into the league?? Please Inform. Also will it be a live draft??
  20. I dont trade either Paulie Or Big Hurt for perez straight up no way. I think Paulie will bounce back this season and Thomas showed the Power Numbers last year Maybe this year he gets it all back. I just dont think you trade a guy who has become The face of your franchise for the past decade for a + pitcher and nothing else maybe Edwin Jackson and Perez or Perez and Mota but not just perez.
  21. Old news peps waste of board space
  22. I really think he can and will hit for average as well as some power I dont think that a 300 average for him is setting to high a standard I think it is something he can easily make. JMO
  23. 1. Crede 2. Konerko 3. Rowand 4. Harris 5. olivo I Like the the way crede has come on and hope that this will be the year he can make some big strides, and become the all-star player he has the chance to be. Crede also has a very good glove at 3B to make him a complete player if he doesnt let the hype get to him. Konerko has been up and down since making the big show and Im looking for him to put it all together this season. He is too good of a hitter to continue to have years like he did last year. And he has a good glove at 1B. I think if giving the chance to play everyday like they say he will Rowand will surprise alot of people. He has decent speed, a good arm , good glove. and is a very good hitter. I may have some high expectaions of him but I really think that he will hit better then .310 this year and have from 15-25 HR's with 85-100 RBI's he has that kinda pop I look for huge things from him this season. Wille I honestly dont know what to think about this guy he can tear up the minors but seems to stall in the majors. Im not sure if he lacks the confidence when facing ML pitching or what is the problem. That being said if he finds ways of using his speed to the best of his ability then he should be fine. His speed is the one thing that I like about him and if they can get him bunting some more he may not be to bad Miguel I really dont like him at all sorry he may be a good defensive catcher but his bat plain sucks. This guy couldnt hit a beach ball if it were thrown at him. But he does have a cannon behind the plate. Other then that I dislike this guy and think we could have been better off with Josh Paul IMHO
  24. That is exactly what I was thinking. Maybe now we make the dodgers or whoever else take Paulie or dont get anything at all.
  25. There is a big difference between Brochard, Crede and Reed. The two Joe's were MVP type players and Brochard was the next " Mickey Mantle " LOL... sorry bout that let me get back to my point Crede and Joe are more power guys then anything else where as for Reed he is a OBP type of line drive hitter not looking to knock the cover off the ball everytime up so even though he may have lofty expectations put on him in the end he should be fine and be productive this year for our beloved Sox.
