    Person Below You Game

QUOTE (Texsox @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 10:40 PM) True! The person below me has tunes on his computer (s)he has never listened to. False. Although I don't like all of the music on my computer--I have listened to every damn song. The person below me thinks that Bob Dylan should win the Nobel Prize for literature.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 02:37 PM) So how much is 12st 8lbs? I believe a stone is 14 pounds (if I remember Bridget Jones' Diary correctly), so that would put her around 176.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 10:44 AM) False, too busy The person below me, like me, should be working or studying for finals True. Naturally. The person below me has a least one wedding to go to this month.
  6. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 03:34 AM) To all those who voted for Grinch... Which one? The cartoon or live action? Cartoon tv special! (Sorry I didn't specify)
  7. I have all hardwood floors, so shoes are fine. Actually better because I never can manage to sweep up all of my sewing pins.
  8. So, I don't really know much about the Kennedy conspiracy theories--but what is the thought that Johnson was behind it? Raw ambition? Disagreement with Kennedy's policies? Just wondering.
  9. I have a humidifier that I leave running all night and that helps. Plus lots of orange juice. And my neti pot.
  10. It wasn't proven. Corroborating support was simply given to that theory. You can't prove anything in science--and if you think you have you don't understand the scientific process.
  11. QUOTE (juddling @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 02:54 PM) I hate it when a band I hate comes out with a single that I really like. Which band/song? I recently realized I don't hate Coldplay's first single off the new album. Lots of cognitive dissonance there.
  12. QUOTE (Texsox @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 02:57 PM) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ That looks good. I forgot to add Turducken as a choice. It looks like Frankenmeat. Gross.
  13. I always have the grad students that aren't able to go home over to mi casa. I always actually do have turkey. But other options (veggie lasagna being the best) do abound. One year a dear friend made the potatoes (for two of us) and she made all 5 pounds. It was so funny, but after a week potatoes were coming out of my ears!
  14. I remember trying to make fossils out of dirt pies and leaves.
  15. QUOTE (Texsox @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 11:10 AM) I kid because I care™ Get it right or FlaSoxxJim will take away our rights to use it. Are you saying it's not the only creepy way, or not the only way? I'm sure that Heads could come up with much creepier ways to hit on the ladies.
  16. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 10:47 AM) It's an effective and creepy way to hit on college girls. I find it difficult to believe that the only creepy way you, of all people, can hit on girls is on facebook. I kid because I care.
  17. Do you get better lap top deals around Black Friday or Back to school? I am thinking of getting a Macbook (mostly because of the vista issue), but I am not sure if I should do it now or wait.
  18. Interesting article on the Detroit bailout by Mitt Romney.
  19. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 12:20 PM) its an odd trend, that only affected these 5 states. So the question, is why these 5? As for the black voting for black, versus white voting for white, that's a great point. However, did the black population vote with Kerry at say 90% or so back in 2004? So if Obama got 93-94%, that wouldn't have been that different. I don't remember where I read it, but before the election I read that Obama was polling the lowest among whites that lived in heavily populated by African-Americans. Does that fit with those states?
  20. I bought a gorgeous new sewing machine. Haven't had much time to use it lately. But I still love it--and I can now officially sew my name onto things! Woo!
  21. There's nothing to discuss: Michelle would win.

    Business dinner

We ended up going to the 11 City Diner which was right in the price range and good food. It was rather cute, we were in like the 1100 South Block of Wabash and my advisor asks me during dinner, so are we on the Southside of Chicago that I hear so much about (including asking about the housing projects)? To my credit I managed not to laugh, but say, no we weren't really on the southSOUTHside yet.

    Business dinner

QUOTE (Texsox @ Nov 12, 2008 -> 11:27 PM) That explains so much. What's the budget? How far do you want to travel? For a taste of Chicago, and since pizza is out, I'd be thinking either ribs or a steak. But that leave syou out so we need vegetarian as well. I don't know probably entrees around $15-20 sounds right. She's not a big red meat eater, but she really likes poultry. I was thinking the Italian Village, but I haven't been there in ages (and I think it's a ways off). Anyway, she likes Italian/Greek, Thai, Indian, Mexican.

    Business dinner

I'm going out to dinner with my boss/mentor tomorrow and possibly some others in my field. As the girl from Chicago I'll probably be asked to pick the place or have some suggestions. But I haven't lived in the area for nigh on a decade. The conference is at the Hilton on North Michigan. Anyone have any suggestions for places within walking distance. My boss hates pizza so that's out. Thanks in advance.
