Saw The Band's Visit this past Saturday. It's about an Egyptian police band that gets lost in the middle of Podunk Israel. It was surprisingly funny--but also kind of achingly sad. Part of it is a kind of traditional fish out of water story, with lots of funny bits. But it's also sad because you see these people (Arabs and Jews) who are alone when in a room together. It's hard to explain, but it's totally worth a watch.

It smacked of someone having an "awesome" idea, that being the devil transfers from body to body through touch and you can tell it is him by the person singing a specific song, and deciding to write a movie around it. any of you have a film that falls in this category? Two pop to mind: Forces of Nature and Georgia Rule. Awful. Really awful.

I love that the article acted like $500 was nothing to spend on a birthday party. My birthday parties consisted of an ice-cream cake from Baskin Robbins and playing twister. And they were awesome.

So, I guess it's more about how diversified the field is--I think EvoPsy is an important aspect of experimental psychology and other sub-disciplines should take their theories into consideration. But I don't necessarily think it is the most interesting question in Psychology (because, admittedly, we're waaaaaaaaaaay behind the hard sciences theoretically). Oh, and I should argue that I think that a lot of the EvoPsy explanation for mental illness and suicide is pretty piss poor and not convincing to me at all.
