Is this the worst year in your Soxfandom?
Whitewashed in '05 replied to Hideaway Lights's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yes, this is the worse season I have ever had to go through. I'm still young though, but I don't know if that matters. One thing that really makes this worse than the record is the fact that last year we were, by talent, one of the best in the game. We were the World Series Champions in 2005! Then this year comes and our farm system doesn't do jack s*** to help us. Everything from OF's to pitching. I mean... Andy Gonzalez starting as many games as he has... I really wish Anderson would have not got injured though. He was raking in AAA and if there was a year for him, under managements eyes, to get playing time, this was it. -
White Sox/Red Sox, 2:55 PM start
Whitewashed in '05 replied to spiderman's topic in 2007 Season in Review
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 03:36 PM) Why even ask questions like that anymore? It's absolutely embarassing that when Jim Thome is out, Andy Gonzalez is our only possible sub. At least we have 8 relievers on the roster now. I keep hearing how the sox will be big players this offseason and now JR says we will be active in the offseason on the article from whitesox.com They continue talking like their gonna go out and get everything they need. They better have answers when we end up with Erstad starting again. Pods ass is as good as gone though. -
Gio Gonzalez...classiest player in the organization

QUOTE(JPN366 @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 02:31 AM) He comes up to YOU and shakes YOUR hand and asks YOU how YOU are, he helps people who's car has broken down, he tips his cap to the fans, he'll sign a million autographs, he's extremely polite and friendly, he has no ego whatsoever, he's the only bright spot for the Birmingham Barons all year. If you ever get the chance to meet him, you'll see what I mean. He deserves all the success in the world. Class act is not strong enough description. Gio... My fav prospect since he was drafted. -
No excuses, Garland has simply been doing bad. Actually, this is close to Buehrle last year. At one point in the season they both had an ERA close to 3.00 then just got rocked. I expect Gar to return to form next season. He still has some time to put together some good starts this season.

Screw the catch all thread, this deserves its own

Baltimore pitching allowed 30 runs to go along with 11 K's... How the hell did they K 11? -
You don't trade Garland unless you're getting kings ransom back. We all know what he can do. Hell before this tough stretch he had an ERA of 3.15. I have always been a big Garland supporter. He's just leaving the ball up right now that ends up going into the stands or hit hard. As far as Contreras... no one wants him. When he's terrible he's TERRIBLE.

Mike Myers Signs/ Andy Gonzalez optioned to Charlotte
Whitewashed in '05 replied to JenksForPrez45's topic in Pale Hose Talk
While our bullpen really isn't good... this isn't a way to improve it. Is this a name that KW told Buehrle he was going to get? and because he is a lefty it means he can get lefties out right??? Well I guess Ozzie is going to manage this guy real good. Besides aren't we looking to get younger? Why would they take away innings from Boone, Wasserman and any other young guys. Aren't they having trouble finding innings for Floyd? Don't they want to call up a few guys?? What are they thinking... -
QUOTE(G&T @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 07:44 AM) Have you searched the Apple support forums? There's usually an answer there. They got nothing...

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 12:02 PM) He makes way too much, but any help vs. LH would be a welcome addition. That's surprising. He's gotten some big hits for that team.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 01:14 PM) Wow, I thought I rememberd a certain Red Sox fan that comes to these parts saying Pena for Buehrle would have been a fair deal...... Fair? More than just fair. The Red Sox would have overpaid. -
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Aug 16, 2007 -> 08:45 AM) That is really strange. Sounds like you almost have to backup all of your files and clear it off. I think they call it a firmware flash? Is Apple givign you any help I did that already. Haven't notified Apple yet. I thought/think I can figure it out...

I just recently went out of town and forgot my charger for the iPod so I bought another usb cable to connect it to my computer, a cheap ass off brand one. It's a 30 gig video (5th gen) I think it is. I charged it and safely removed it. Then it gave me some error about transferring files through a firewire cable?? I was using a USB cable. Now ever since that error came up when I disconnected it, my ipod won't turn off. I play a song and press pause and just stays on. I even pause the song then turn the hold switch on. I try to hold pause...nothing. I tried reseting it by holding the menu and button in the middle still nothing. I updated to the newest iTunes and updated it to the latest firmware. Then after backing up all my music because I renamed a ton of stuff for hours, I completely restored it. Latest firmware, wiped it clean... still won't turn off. The only way it will turn off is if the battery runs out and that still didn't help last night before I did all of the above. I will continue to research to fix it, but if anyone knows how to fix it that would save me a headache. Also want to add that after restoring it I saw that dumb firewire message again really quick then went away. I've only seen it 3 times.

People like Toshiba's, but I don't. All computers come from the factory with adware. Not exactly the harmful kind, just the annoying trialware and small apps they add. Toshiba adds about 20 processes of their proprietary software on top of all that garbage. I have to use many of them at work. HP's are okay, but make sure you don't get stuck with the laptops without the traditional PCMCIA slots. HP has come out with their own "expansion slots." I don't know if they have done that to all their new models, but I have seen it on some. Dell usually is solid. They also come with some garbage software, but not as bad as Toshiba. Even though I always use windows I would get an Apple because of the boot camp. Having Mac OS and windows on one computer seems pretty handy. Most important of all. Get what you will use. If you need something simple then get it, but make sure that's all you need it for. Don't go spending lots of money on stuff you won't use. If you will use it a lot and demand a lot from a computer make sure you get plenty of memory and a Core 2 Duo processor.

QUOTE(Stan Bahnsen @ Aug 8, 2007 -> 04:53 PM) I sure hope he gets called up in Sept. - I've been dying to see him pitch. I've seen the praise for his curve and changeup - considering that he only started throwing a change in ST, I'd say that he's making excellent progress. I've also seen that he averages perhaps 93 on the heater, but is it straight or does it move nicely? Given that he does give up a few dingers, maybe it's a little straighter than we'd like. Other than his size, I don't see any other negatives. He seems to have made good strides with his control as well. DLS will hopefully be ready by '09. One hit every two innings is a sick stat at any level. If those two succeed, the Sox should be a serious contender at that time. Maybe too many holes to fill for '08, but I've been wrong before. He's supposed to have some nice movement. Ozzie was raving about him in ST. He loved how much movement he had and said his stuff is good enough for the majors now while in ST. I found a couple articles. "Manager Ozzie Guillen watched Gonzalez throw two or three early bullpen side sessions and immediately remarked that Gonzalez's velocity was stronger than he anticipated." "Gonzalez just earned the praise of Guillen after Sunday's bullpen session, impressing the man in charge with the velocity and movement he had on his pitches. In talking with the young left-hander for just a few minutes this morning, you get the impression of an individual who is truly energized by the challenge of competing for a Major League job and is going to have fun vying for that fifth starter's slot, even if he comes up short when final roster decisions are announced in late March." Link1 Link2 I've been high on him since the day we drafted him. I can't wait to see him.

First time I post in this thread just because I really don't care anymore. Can't wait until Arod crushes the record. I do have to admit though... the home run call was pretty bad ass.

Buehrle: Sox aren't going into rebuilding mode
Whitewashed in '05 replied to thedoctor's topic in Pale Hose Talk
KW printed GrindErstad's stats from 2000 and told him if he comes back to that form we can be really dangerous. Then if Aardsma can develop a wicked offspeed pitch they have a good setup man. Also if Jerry Owens learns how to hit he can be the lead off man. Then Mark just asked which line should he sign on... okokok just kidding... I would love to see this list KW compiled. -
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 05:38 PM) Tigers place P Andrew Miller on DL. They lose another starting pitcher. Another example of hard it is staying competitive every year.

Her interest level doesn't seem too high. Next time you see her at a party you can say hi like shes just any other girl and then go and talk to a bunch of other girls and friends in front of her and then talk to her after. Feel her out. If you guys actually do begin talking again then try to go out on a date again. If she flakes out again then forget about her. She isn't interested and nothings going to happen. It will only make matters worse if you continue after her... like make you look desperate. Like others have said, she seems immature. She also seems like a lot of young girls though. All she probably wants to do is party right? I wouldn't look for a real relationship. Just some fun at a party...

QUOTE(WCSox @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 05:03 PM) Kenny took the Sox from a pitching-starved franchise with a below-average farm system and payroll constraints to a champion. There's no getting around that. Does that mean that Kenny's a great GM? No. Does it mean that Kenny's even an above-average GM? No. But it does mean that he was successful. Luck, my ass. It was a competent GM assembling a talented team, strong coaching/leadership, a positive clubhouse, and the players getting it done on the field. "Luck" does not result in 99 wins, an 11-1 playoff record, and a level of dominance that equaled the '99 Yankees and '84 Tigers. That's right! We weren't good, we were dominant. Every team has breaks, that season we took advantage of them.

Didn't he say he was perfectly fine all this year even through his rough stretch? I hope he's healthy and ready to be back to normal. We need him bad... for next season. -
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 04:56 PM) May I ask... WHAT THE f*** IS THE POINT OF ERSTAD GETTING AT BATS OVER SWEENEY? ^^^ What do KW and Ozzie see in Erstad... he brings nothing to the table.

ESPN: Rob Mackowiak Traded to SD

Our bench now gets weaker and our bullpen...stays the same. Mack is good with the bat and the field when he's not in center. What is KW up to...
