  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 06:11 PM) Teahen should be leading off I wouldn't mind that. Decent speed, good eye and takes lots of pitches. Best candidate we have really.

If anyone is looking to try some supplments, I e-mailed Cytosport (muscle milk makers) to get some free samples after I read about people doing it online. It actually worked, took less than a week. All you gotta do is e-mail: customerservice@cytosport.com and they will send six sample products. I thought it was pretty cool.
  3. Charlis Birdie is allergic to base hits (in a good way). He just doens't like to give them up. I wonder what kind of stuff he has, but he dominated last year in Kanny and did well in WS.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 06:53 PM) Truth be told, I've never been impressed by his stuff. I have doubts about how he'll retire lefty hitters in the majors. With that said, we have no one else being close to ready, so you can't trade him. It's funny, I have the same doubts about Tyler Flowers. I think for me, it's just I can't trust this organization when it comes to play development. Let's face it, we don't develop our own players at all. Gordon Beckham was not a product of White Sox player development, he was just a stud, so I exclude him immediately.
  5. I really hope this doesn't become a "we should have traded him when we could have" thing.
  6. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 02:59 PM) Major League II? Winner! Rube Baker sydrome.
  7. He just needs to repeat the article from Playboy magazine and he'll be fine. Now, who will get this reference?
  8. Is Kim Johnsson even alive? I mean where has this guy been? Upper body injury or concusion, why can't we get a definite diagnosis on his injury from the Hawks? We could really use his D-first prescence against the Canucks.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 10:12 AM) Its definitely the case. If I good stick to the diet on the weekends I would be in much better shape. I have the same problem with eating too well. Yesterday ate dinner: about 10 oz. of chicken and brocoli. Then after dinner, inexplicably, I eat an English muffin with peanut butter (about 200 calories), two bowls of kashi go lean crunch cereal (about 320 calories total), some dark chocolate (about 100 calories) and oatmeal with peanut butter (another 200 calories or so). So after my dinner, which was at 7:15 p.m., I still managed to down another 800 calories or so. I am not even sure why. I wasn't really hungry, but also my dinner didn't fill me either.
  10. QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 09:18 AM) Yeah I have worked full time (M-F) my whole college career so I'm gonna go ahead and disagree with you there Haha. I give you and the people in your boat tremendous respect because that is not only difficult, but so draining I could imagine. I know I would have welted under those demands.
  11. Obviously he won't keep his current pace, but if he continues to have a successful year, I could see him skipping High-A next year and starting in AA. In terms of raw tools, he is an elite prospect and he is putting those tools into elite production thus far. You can't help but be enthusiastic. We really have not had a player with his type of offensive potential for awhile.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 08:18 PM) Ely to start for the Dodgers on Wednesday vs the Mets That should be hilarious. And btw, I think Trayce Thompson ends up a top-25 prospect in all of baseball, he is definitely our top prospect since Borchard in terms of ceiling (granted Borch never reached it).
  13. It's scary to think what Juan Pierre could be doing SB-wise with Scotty Pods batting abilities. Juan could be close to 20 SBs.
  14. QUOTE (joeynach @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) Meaning guys who are much more consistent at the plate, higher Batting Averages, and known for spraying the ball all over the park. Alexi and Tehean are perfect examples of guys that overall perform well, but nothing that consistent and have the ability to be hitting .200 for months at a time. Let's not bash Teahen and lump him with Alexei thus far. Mark is batting .277 with a cool .393 OBP. I guess this is the Moneyball Teahen Billy Beane wanted.
  15. The biggest problem with our homeruns is that the majority are solo shots. I am not sure the stats behind this, but it sure seems like at least 60% of our homeruns have been solo ones.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 01:29 AM) Don't know if you guys are aware of this, but Justin Jones, one of the Sox high picks that got away, is really kicking ass this year and has an outside shot of being the College Baseball Freshman Pitcher of the year. Wow he keeps up his progression and he'll probably be a first-round pick in 2012 draft. Why didn't we sign him? Too much money? He wanted college all the way?
  17. Derrick Rose is so good. That is all. Once he starts getting the Kevin Durant-type foul treatment, he'll go to the line 10 times a game and that will raise his scoring average about 5 points. He is Dwayne Wade Part II. Games are quite similar. But Lebron is just ridiculous, he has those MJ moments where he refuses to lose. Game Two perfect example and I was so scared Game Three was going to be another. I am not here to argue MJ vs. Lebron, but if Lebron had a Scottie, wow.
  18. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 10:13 AM) In future seasons, we'll reflect on this year and realize it did benefit us in several ways -- 1. Top 10 Draft Pick 2. End of rotating DH 3. End of listening to Guillen's opinion on how to construct a roster 4. End of Kotsay and Vizquel (although there's always going to be the next Kotsay and Vizquel as long as we have anyone on the bench). Hopefully it will be the end of Guillen, too. I am sick of his horrible managerial moves and what's more, I am sick of his antics. All the stupid Twitter stuff, Oney, Web sites and everything else. I want a manager who only cares about the team, not these superfluous marketing ploys. His gig was funny for a couple years, but it's stale and detracts from his ability to manager. Maybe instead of updating his stupid Twitter account, he should be scouting the no-name lefty who will be one-hitting his team in the 7th inning.
  19. I wonder what our average attendance will be this year. Probably hover around 25K? I know I am in no rush to go see this team. One of the problems with Sox fans is that we are stubborn. We don't like to pay to see bad baseball, which potentially could hurt the team in the future with payroll.
  20. Wishing I had finals. No matter what you say in school about hating school and wanting the "real world" to begin, college is still way better. Even if you hate your classes, hate your roommate or whatever, you'll never have that freedom again where you go to class 2-3 hours a day and then can spend the rest of the day how you like it. I graduated in December and now my life from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. (leave for work, work, come back from work) is all taken up. Then you eat and all you want to do in the evening is nothing. College rocks, and I was one of the ones who couldn't wait to get out.
  21. Mark my words. When Jim Hendry is fired at the end of this year, Rick Hahn will be the Cubs new GM.
  22. I've done it, but not for a Sox game. It's not weird or anything, sometimes friends can't/don't want to go. Why take away an enjoyable experience for yourself just because you're by yourself?
  23. Versteeg passes when he should shoot and shoots when he should pass. I used to think his hockey IQ was great, but this year, he has played like an idiot.
  24. Thought this would be pretty interesting since as they say you never know where you'll meet her or him.
