NBA playoffs thread
According to Sam Smith, Thibs was offered a three-year deal by the Bulls. Pretty obvious he will accept soon. Great hire, IMO. Terrific defensive coach. Proven to be part of winning teams. And with his relationship to WWW, has ties to the big FAs. It will be interesting to see how he builds his coaching staff.

NBA Offseason Thread
Also I think it's important to note the wording of Lebron (though it may not have been intended). He said "an edge" not "the edge." The Bulls also have "an edge" based on cap room and surrounding talent.

Mark Teahen to the DL, Lillibridge Recalled
I hope Nix gets legit playing time over the next 1.5 weeks. He has received too inconsistent playing time this year to make any sound judgments on his performance. I really think if he gets starter's at-bats, he would post these type of numbers over a full year: .260, 25 HR, 75 RBI with good SB numbers.

Memorial Day-5/31 Games
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 02:43 AM) As I said in the other thread, I have it on "very good" authority that Morel is getting promoted to AAA tomorrow. Not sure who is being sent down, but my source believes it is Retherford. Well if Lillibridge got moved up, then Morel takes his spot assuming it's Teahen being placed on the DL. If Beckham was sent down, then CJ could be the odd man out.

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 31, 2010 -> 01:42 PM) Not agreeing or disagreeing with you, but for the Badger fans.. the Hawks are what 11-0 or 11-1 with Burish in the line-up? I don't think that is just coincidence. Again.. not agreeing or disagreeing. I do think there is some legitimacy to stats like that, but when the guy averages six minutes per game, it makes it tougher. But there are other things that his presence just being on the bench might have. Still, though not a fan haha, but it's moot since Ladd is out again for Game Two.

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
I really hope Burish is in the press box today for Ladd. No way you can take Kopecky out (he is far superior as is to Burish) and obviously we are stronger when Ladd is on the ice. Burish really brings nothing to the team unless you count stupidity. He gets horrible penalties, sucks on offense, isn't a great defender. All he does is agitate and that is pretty useless in the Stanley Cup Finals especially against such a physical team.

Mitchell ahead of schedule
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 28, 2010 -> 09:47 AM) Yeah, they now have two leagues in the fall in AZ, plus the non-competition instructional league. They might mean the second (younger) AFL league, or they may mean just the unofficial league. Hard to say, but I'd bet they do NOT mean the top line AFL. Yeah that's what they mean, not the Arizona Fall League.

5-7 Mile Chicago Hikes
Like Northside said, just go "hiking" in Chicago places. So many nice places...do a big rectangle along Michigan and coming back State (or vice versa).

5/27 Games
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 28, 2010 -> 08:24 AM) LOL. Wow, tell us how you really feel, maggs. I know, I am bad. but I just don't see any reason to be optimistic with this franchise in player development.

5/27 Games
I am pretty sure we have the worst farm system in baseball now. When out of your so-called top six prospects: Hudson, Mitchell, Flowers, Danks, Morel and Viciedo (since there is a clear drop after those six coming into the year) one is having a great year, two solid years, two bad years and one out of the year, you system is going to decrease in the rankings. Add in the s*** we have minus those guys and it's bad. I am not even excited about Hudson or Viciedo because I just view them as White Sox prospects who will come up the majors and suck. Then, either toil in the minors or get traded.

Winter/Spring 2009-10 TV thread
Just watched the 24 finale. Thought it was a great way to go out. Gregory Itzkin should get an Emmy for best guest star. He really made the show take off the second half. So sad, love Jack Bauer. Glad to see him one more time on the big screen.

LOST!!!!
QUOTE (juddling @ May 25, 2010 -> 04:41 PM) I do agree with Jenks as being a writer on the show did come with some pitfalls. The real world forced some changes on them..some they had time to work with and some caught them off guard. If you think about it....they were forced to change things from the word go as Jack was supposed to die in the first episode. Then he became the focal point (more or less). Ben was supposed to be a guest star for 3 or four episodes....they realized they had such a great actor and character then changed the whole storyline midstream and attentioned shifted more towards Ben and his merry men. I read way back when that Mr. Eko was supposed to have a huge part in the show....whoops....they didn't plan for the actor to get sick of Hawaii after just a year. I'm sure after planning things out the writers were none too happy to hear about that. already mentioned was Walt and his amazing real life growth spurt. that threw a monkey wrench into plans as well. Sure, the writers probably thought they had time to get some other stuff until an end date was announced. i'm sure some things got thrown by the wayside in the interest of time I would love to see some of the notes from those writers meetings. But these are issues that all television shows deal with. That's just the nature of TV where seasons are based on years and things are continuously in flux.

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 23, 2010 -> 11:56 PM) Being a fan of the Hawks for a good part of just over a decade now, and going thru all of the bad times, seeing the team rated as the worst sports franchise in the world a few years ago, and to see where they are at now has been fantastic to watch and be a part of. Niemi's shown that he'll be the #1 guy here for a few seasons at least, and hopefully we can lock him up to an affordable contract for the long - term, and somehow get rid of Huet's deal. The Hawks should be basking in money the next few years, so I wouldn't be surprised to see them put him on waivers and eat his contract. In the NHL (I think) you can put someone on waivers and get the cap space back. Granted, that is asking a lot for the Hawks to eat $4.5 million or whatever Huet is owed, but if it means keeping Hammer and Niemi, I think it's gotta be done.

LOST!!!!
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 24, 2010 -> 02:27 PM) O'Quinn, Emerson, and Fox will never have a hard time finding a job again. I agree with those three because they are all really good actors on their own. But Hurley (whatever the hell his real name is) is always going to be Hugo, Sawyer = Sawyer...

LOST!!!!
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 23, 2010 -> 10:37 PM) The last twenty minutes of LOST were an absolute travesty. That’s a damn shame. I guess they were onto something when they named Charlotte Lewis after C.S. Lewis, because that was right out of the Chronicles of Narnia. Agreed. It was going so well, and it looked there would be definite closure. WRONG.

LOST!!!!
QUOTE (jphat007 @ May 23, 2010 -> 10:33 PM) Yah. I'm not exactly sure what happened. If Sawyer et al got away on the plane, why would they be at the church 'whereever you are' I think the end when the credits rolled was supposed to be showing the plane Sawyer and et al was on crashed. And I guess we are to assume they were dead. The alternate universe was just heaven???

Does the recent success of Ely and Gio Gonzalez
Ely would be hammered in the AL, just my gut instinct.

Reload!
How are we going to trade for said stud players? We don't have many guys with legit trade value.

LOST!!!!
My stupid ending would be that the show cuts at some climatic scene to the creators of Lost with executives from NBC. And they are pitching the idea of Lost as an NBC show. After, the last sentence of the pitch, one NBC executive says, "Interesting, but do you think anyone would actually watch such a far-fetched, fantasy show about a plane that crashes on a mysterious island?" Then, the credits roll.

Official Recruiting Thread II
Mycheal Orr ranked 18th in the latest Rivals.com rankings for 2011. Looking like a terrific commit for Illinois. Abrams and Egwu in the top 75, also. Let's just get Shaw/Davis and Randle, and call it a top-5 recruiting class.

5/19 Games
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 20, 2010 -> 07:35 AM) He's making adjustments to his swing, much like Flowers, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that he is struggling. I'll be more interested to see his splits throughout the season and see if he gets a better feel and starts raking again. He may be making adjustments, but he is just having a terrible season. No other way to describe it. He is showing no power despite playing in a bandbox of a ball park. He is showing an atrocious K-rate. And he has a sub-.700 OPS. I know I have become somewhat of a curmudgeon when it comes to White Sox prospects, but Danks will never amount to anything more than a replacement-level player in the Major Leagues.

Reasons we can catch the Twins
But the reason we won't: Our starting pitchers can't protect a f***in lead.

Winter/Spring 2009-10 TV thread
Watched the last three 24s all last night. Wow. What a great way to end the show. Jack is just going off the deep end and I love it. I mean every season, you know Jack still has held back in some way, shape or form. Now he has no bounderies.

Rangers inquire about AJ
I have read nary a post in this thread, but all I have to say is: Trade A.J. Let me see what Flowers can do. That is all.
