  1. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Dec 27, 2008 -> 01:28 PM) Dont get me wrong, I love Joe Crede, but he doesnt mean to the Sox what Mike Brown means to the Bears in terms of leadership. But when we needed a big hit in any situation, he usually came through. I actually think their impacts are similar. Brown as a leader of the D and Crede as the Sox Mr. Clutch.
  2. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 26, 2008 -> 12:49 PM) Pretty tough not to be excited about Mr. Danks. He's got a shot to be a legit number 1 starter in this league. Going deep into games is about the only weakness of his right now.
  3. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Dec 26, 2008 -> 12:46 PM) Did anybody see Alin Vigneault (sp?), the head coach of the Canucks, and what he said? I can't find it now but he said the Hawks are the best team in hockey. Thoughts? Here ya go: http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=259806
  4. Going to my first Hawks game in like four years, maybe more tonight. So excited, I can only imagine how cool of an atmosphere it will be with the Winter Classic so close and it being the first game back on the seven game winning streak. SO PUMPED!! And to top it off playing another great team in Philly. Hoping for a big Kaner night.
  5. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 02:34 PM) lol, this is getting on my f***ing nerves, it's like 3 years ago all over again. Teixeira isn't a 20 million a year type of player. QUOTE (lord chas @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 02:37 PM) hes not worth that much Yeah, but he is probably the best first baseman in baseball. Still young, a .300+ hitter, 40 HR, 100 RBI, great walk numbers and gold glover to boot. He is the best at his position.
  6. Stuff like this is so scary... http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/12/23/dallas...ings/index.html
  7. Sickels is a Twins fan, but I really can't argue wit his ratings. Beckham needs a full year to get an A, Poreda needs some secondary pitches, Allen needs to cut down on the Ks, Flowers needs to show he can stick at catcher. For the Viciedo thing, I think he really should just be graded an incomplete right now because no body has seen him in minor league ball yet and that should be the case with all international prospects. I think these are pretty fair grades, but Sickels seems to acknowledge the Sox have a lot of intriguing players in the system who could make some major jumps: Shelby, Danks, Hudson, Martinez and Morel.
  8. Derick Brassard is out for the year. Now I am never happy about other players getting injured, but...Versteeg is now the clear front runner for the Calder!!
  9. Bears still alive in the division!! Just win tomorrow because I have a good feeling about the Giants beating Minny, especially after how bad they looked today.
  10. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Dec 21, 2008 -> 05:42 PM) John Danks is without a doubt my favorite pitcher on the staff right now. I can't wait until I start seeing "Danks 50" t-shirts at the stores. I hope the Sox can keep him for a long, long time. It'd be nice if Danks/Floyd can become Chicago's version of Maddux/Glavine/Smoltz. Does anyone think that, when free agency comes up, that the Danks family might favor staying in Chicago for less money rather than seek more money/years elsewhere? With how John and Jordan are no longer represented by Boras, and how their new agent is, if I'm not mistaken, the same agent as Beuhrle's, hopefully we'll always have the inside track on negotiations with the Danks. I have a feeling it will be similar to the Buehrle situation. As long as we give Danks a fair deal, he will accept. Obviously, it would help if Jordan plays well and is a starter somewhere because that might influence him. But also we have to worry about how we treat Jordan; actually it is a tough situation because you want to give him a shot because you don't want the family to think he was mistreated, but you also don't want to give him too many favors because of his brother.
  11. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 21, 2008 -> 04:33 PM) It isn't even close. NHL 09 is one of the best sports games in the last 10 years. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 21, 2008 -> 05:33 PM) NHL 09 no question. Haha, thanks guys. Definitely makes this an easy decision. One I want, great reviews online and you guys give it many thumbs up. Dunzo. Can't wait to waste hours on this game. I have NCAA Football 09, but its too easy now for me, sadly, that is how much I play. In Heisman mode, I still score like 70 every game against good teams, too.
  12. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Dec 21, 2008 -> 03:33 PM) I still don't believe in the Titans. I just don't see them going to the Super Bowl. I love their tremendous run attack (great 1-2 punch) and they play great D. That's a great formula for a Super Bowl. I think it comes down to Indy and Tenn.
  13. NHL 09 or NHL 2k9? I am going to get one of them, which one? I am leaning toward NHL 09 because of Be a Pro mode and I have seen it rated higher online. But what are your guys' opinions?
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 20, 2008 -> 02:24 PM) Their rankings for football are pretty hilarious at times. Ranking high school football players is a pretty bad science. After the top 25 guys in the country, the rest is a complete crap shoot and very arbitrary. If a 2-star guy signs commits to OU, he immediately gets a raise in his rankings. The success of 5-stars usually is the most (but only about 50% of those guys turn out like they are suppose to). Just go look at the first round draft picks each year, so a giant mix of all rankings of players. Basketball is the only sports rankings I truly care about because all the good kids play in AAU tournaments and the basketball rankings are pretty accurate because all Rivals and Scout can see most of the top players throughout the year unlike football. One last foot note, never pay any attention to rankings of offensive lineman -- ever.
  15. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 03:31 PM) Tracy Abrams (class of 2011) to Illinois. That kid is big time and he is good friends with Shaw, Blackshear and Thompson. Recruiting is so fun to follow right now, Illinois is going to be absolutely loaded. The best part about Abrams is that everyone loves to play with him. Like you said, this will help immensely with Shaw, Blackshear and Thompson. Also, it will likely put the pressure on Chasson Randle or Bradley Beal to commit because I imagine Illinois will only hold two spots open for guards. Then two for the wings (Thompson and Blackshear) and one big (Shaw). Great day to be an Illini fan. This class could be #1, and it just started off amazingly. Gotta love Jerrence Howard and Bruce Weber for choosing him as an assistant.
  16. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 16, 2008 -> 10:05 PM) 7-1! Wizzzzzz! Gonna be reviewed. And it stands. Goal goes to Brouwer, his 2nd, on the deflection. They are unconscious right now!!!

QUOTE (G&T @ Dec 16, 2008 -> 08:28 AM) Take a class for it and do the work. The LSAT is hard. I was scoring on practices over 160, but ended up in the 150's. I wasn't too happy, but I got into a school. My experience tells me that if your GPA is solid, all you need is a 150+ to get into a decent school. But I'm sure others will freak you out and say you need a 170. Yeah, my GPA is pretty good, so GPA wise I am looking Michigan, Illinois, Wash U, Notre Dame and some others around the midwest, but yeah I am kind of worried about the LSAT. I just hate the concept that one test determines so much.

On the same subject sort of, any advice for the LSAT? I will be taking it in 6-9 months.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 15, 2008 -> 09:42 AM) Yes, and it's most definitely time for the Hawks to give Bulin away and get this Sundin signing completed. You have to be careful though not to ruin some team chemistry. Bulin is obviously a big part of this team and sending him away could send a bad vibe through the team. However, if you can sign Sundin and get some solid prospects for Bulin, fiscally and for the future it probably makes sense. I actually kind of like the two-goalie tandem, keeps them both fresh, but obviously they are making too much money combined.
  20. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 14, 2008 -> 03:31 PM) Cardinals crapping themselves off the bat Yeah, not doing the Bears any favors.
  21. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Dec 13, 2008 -> 10:10 PM) Actually it was in Kansas City, but a loss is a loss. This is not your average Kansas team, very young and inexperienced. 45 minutes away, I consider home. But they will get better toward the end of the season as their players mature.
  22. Wow. Kansas loses to UMass. Ouch. At home. Double Ouch.
  23. I don't understand how we are over budget. They made a ton of money last year and have lowered payroll by $30 million. Someone with an economic background care to explain? And don't just say the economy is bad as a whole.
  24. Joe Nelson would be a great choice as a middle reliever, he was released from Florida.
  25. If we picked up Cabrera, do you all realize that we would be the most frustrating and worst use of stuff since Danny Wright? Maybe take a chance on him, but he sucks.
