5/16 gamethread: Sox (20-20) vs Giants (17-25)
It's so frustating watching this crappy lineup. Seriously, bring up Getz for second base. His numbers are home-inflated, but at least he won't swing at s*** just like Crede did. WOW. this lineup blows.

MLB Draft Projections
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 14, 2008 -> 02:42 PM) I would be incredibly happy with drafting Beckham. This is the guy I want. He can steal bases, hit bombs, walk and hit for a high average. Lots like Tulo if you ask me. If he is there, you nab him and groom him to be the everyday SS in 09. Not the greatest SS fielding wise, but he'll do. QUOTE (daa84 @ May 14, 2008 -> 02:21 PM) Doug Laumann was in Nashville last weekend watching on a scouting visit....i presume he was Georgia vs. Vandy i read elsewhere though too that the white sox really liked wallace as well Wallace has a great bat, but I hope its just smoke. If both Beckham and Wallace were available and the Sox picked Wallace, I would be very upset. An elite hitting short stop is ridiculously harder to find than a solid hitting first baseman.

5/13 games...
I agree that Shelby could be a very good player, but to be considered top 25 in all of baseball, you have to be young for your league, or if average for your league, have simply ridiculous numbers. If you are old, you have to be an elite oversees talent like Ichiro or Dice-K. Shelby might be a top 100 guy after this year, but too old for top 25.

Late Night Shake-Up
I love Letterman and will always watch him, but then usually watch Conan. I just hope with Conan being on the the first show, he doesn't tame down his craziness because that's what make him Conan.

Baseball's safest record
How about Cy Young's career losses 316. Who the hell would break that?

Guts is coming back
Now just bring back Legends of the Hidden Temple and I will be happy. Seriously, greatest show ever.

Sox (18-17) @ Seattle (14-24) 3:10 PM
A real bad hitting team with Gavin on the mound could be special, something like we haven't seen this year, oh wait!! He's done s*** like this before. Anyways, love watching Gavin and hopefully we can get the sweep and take some momentum into LA.

I would like to see a nice 1-2-3 inning for Javy after this inning is over.

5/9 Games
The entire Sox organization (minors and majors) are all hovering around .500. Kinda funny and kinda sad.

Charlotte's roster...
QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 8, 2008 -> 09:25 PM) Gookie Dawkins played 3rd base today, he can play SS and 2nd too. I wouldn't be surprised to see Getz playing SS a lot throughout the rest of the season. He might, but everything I have read about him says he doesn't have the arms strength, but maybe the Sox will try to groom him to be a future utility infielder.

5/8 Games
Charlotte Lost 5-4 Wise, Eldred, Dawkins 2 hits Haeger: 7 inn, 7 hits, 4 runs (3 ER,) 3 BBs and 1 K. MacDougal: 1.2 inn, 0 hits, 1 run, 4 BBs and 3 Ks HAHA. Typical. B-Ham: Postponed for rain. Winston-Salem: 0-0, Suspended Suspended in the 7th because of rain, will be continued May 30. Matt Long was very good: 6 inn, 6 hits, no runs, 1 BB and 3 Ks. Maybe coming into his own, 2.31 ERA now. Was our second round pick in 06. One hit from the Hogs, Francisco Hernandez. Kanny wins 4-3 Carter not great, but still very good: 5 inn, 4 hits, 3 runs (2 ER) 2 BBs and 7 Ks. ERA at 1.66. Mabee gets save 7, 0.47 ERA for him in 19 innings. From same college at Jon Rauch (Moorehead State) Logan Johnson continues to slug, 3-3, BA at .347 Jose Martinez 2-3 Danny Jordan, catcher, 3-4

Prep Baseball player with cancer gets last hit
Great subject matter and great kid, but I think the story could have been written better. But aside from journalistic criticism, that kid is a great story, hopefully he gets at least those two years.

5/6 Games
Whisler is having a great year ERA wise, but his peripherals are just so-so. 28.2 innings, 27 hits, 12 BBs and 10 Ks. He cannot keep his ERA that low, or even under 3.00 probably if he continues to walk more than he strikes out. However, it's nice to see him start off the year solidly.

5/4 Games
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 5, 2008 -> 01:28 PM) He's got pretty good secondary stuff. Legitimate relief prospect, imo. It makes me sad that our legitimate prospects are relievers or future utility players.

5/4 Games
QUOTE (danman31 @ May 4, 2008 -> 09:40 PM) I just noticed Texeira, the closer for W-S, didn't give up a HR all of last season at Kanny (53.2 IP) and hasn't given up one in 10.1 innings this year. He's had a K/9 over 9 and H/9 under 9 so he might be a respectable prospect (21 years old). he's also got the best slider in the system according to Phil Rogers.

What do you get when you mix an elephant with a fish? Swimming trunks. (it never gets old for me)

Thanks to all who did the survey, and if a couple more people read this, please also do it. But thanks to everyone, your help is much appreciated.

4/30 Games
I would really call up JO and Lucy for Hall and Ramirez. JO could give our lineup a spark because of his speed, not saying you start him all the time, but against a some righties I wouldn't mind seeing him out there. And my anger with Toby Hall is always gonna be here and I just think Lucy is a better player.

4/29 - SOX @ MIN, 7:10 CT, WCIU
This just reaffirms how much I hate the Twins.
-
4/29 - SOX @ MIN, 7:10 CT, WCIU
This game has me worried because you know the Twins will "pirahna" a run across this inning probably. I can see it: bloop single, SB, bunt, sac fly (that JD throws off the line to allow the run in).
