Nice Juanito.

Jermaine Dye has been nothing but excellent in replacing Maggs. Who knows what last year's team would've looked like with Maggs on it and the money we would've had to pay him.

Pods, LF Iguchi, 2B Thome, DH PK, 1B Dye, RF Crede, 3B Alomar, C Uribe, SS Anderson, CF Buehrle, SP

Have a good time.

STOA: With the Momentum Building, Sox Head Into a Key Week
greasywheels121 replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It took me forever to find the time to listen to the show this week, but I finally got to it! Gage got feisty on the Sox this week. You’re right about the Sox being more dependent on offense this year. And as you said, no one could’ve/should’ve expected that going into the season. It was thought the offense was going to be an upgrade over last year’s. And that would’ve made the team impossible to beat, if the pitching kept doing what they were all capable of. However, the pitching’s been a big disappointment all the way into August. Mario’s right too. The Sox aren’t doing this because they know the season’s a long one, and they’ll turn it on when they absolutely need to. They’re all just struggling. The positive as he pointed out, the pitchers are all capable of putting offenses on lockdown. They all did it for a full 162 + playoffs last year. Rob Mackowiak definitely deserves no blame for any of his problems in center. He never played there on a consistent basis. He’d be a lot better fitted on this club, if he used effectively in the corners of the infield and outfield. I agree about the homers being overrated. I was definitely feeling that way leaving the 2004 season. I was excited about doing the smaller things in ’05. Yes, the homers were there, but we didn’t depend on them. It feels like the only way we can score this year is via the home run. Hermanson deserves a lot of dap. He’s forgotten for what he did, since it was the first part of last season. However, he was lights out, and I will always appreciate what he did for the Sox regardless how his tenure here ends. And I hate Hawk now. He’s gotten even more ridiculous now, with his obsession of everything woe is Sox (bashing the umps, etc.) I love DJ though. I wouldn’t mind DJ flying solo, or getting a new partner soon. ---- Great show guys. You guys need a show on CSN/ESPN. -

QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 12:02 PM) The last big name free agent signed by the Sox: Albert Belle The last big name free agent signed by the Cubs: Greg Maddux Paul Konerko. I know what you mean.

From what I heard, August 17th is the only date not sold out on the homestand.

QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 01:25 AM) If the Yankees hadn't committed all those errors we never would have won it. However it is a win and I'll gladly take it. Haha. That's baseball. You can say "If.." for absolutely every game of the season to turn out differently.

Minnesota Twins Post Mortem Playoff Thread

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:45 PM) wow how is it possible no one has had a 30 HR season for what 19 seasons... I could maybe understand 40 but wow thats kind of pathetic but at the same time they have been pretty successfull as of late.. The Twins have never been based on/a promoter of power. They let David Ortiz go for that very reason. And they have been a fairly successful club over that time span, so the results aren't that hard to argue with. -
ST Poll: Who's the most clutch player on the Sox?

Thank you Kansas City.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 12:16 AM) Good call Tito, that's 2 game winning HRs (non walkoffs) right there that he's had this year, both of which were in huge clutch situations and agianst good teams (Twins, Cards). And here's another important one, but Politte blew the game. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...p&team=away

Vote HERE, and discuss.

Well, I guess this is the only place you can go, since you've successfully deemed every player on the Sox roster overrated now.

2006 White Sox Catch-All Thread

QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 08:03 PM) While I agree that A-Rod is better than Crede, that hasn't been the case this year, which is what BBTN is basing it off of. I was just going to say that. It's hard to not take Crede over A-Rod this year, all things considered. However, I did laugh last year when Hawk said he'd take Crede over A-Rod, etc., when he went on that rant how we were better at every position than the Yankees. -

QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 07:43 PM) BBTN just said that Joe Crede was the best 3B in the AL, and that it wasn't even a debate between him and A-Rod. Dappage for BBTN. -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 06:37 PM) 2005 was Joe Crede's 3rd full season in the big leagues, he showed some nice progression at the plate in pitch selection early on in the year as opposed to the year before. Joe was showing flashes of brilliance that were overshadowed by month to month inconsistencies all this while playing elite defense at a VERY important position. I really don't think Joe Crede's spot on the roster was in as much jeopardy as some people may think. Guillen loves talking about the fans in his pressers and how their opinions are often wrong, I'd say he's likely addressing them with that quote. That's how I interpreted it, and I don't see how that makes Ozzie off his rocker or anything.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 06:33 PM) That's why Organizations aren't run by large groups of fans. I do belive Ozzie is completely off his rocker. I agree with Ozzie on this one. He's always done a great job giving players a chance to prove themselves, whether they deserve the chance or not.

Well Crede wouldn't be here if the majority of ST had control of what was taking place in the Sox organization.
