QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 3, 2009 -> 08:51 PM) I agree on Wilkinson, I thought he got shafted on that. Should have won. I AM SHIVA THE GODDESS OF DEATH! Wilkinson is the best actor that nobody knows about.... really undervalued. MC is a solid movie overall. George Clooney is a pretty decent actor when he's not trying to tell the audience how cool and fun he is.

QUOTE (Cali @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 07:21 PM) Saw The Wrestler last night, Rourke is AWESOME. I hope he wins the Oscar for his performance. The movie itself is good, but not great. Doesnt really break any new ground story wise, but it's shot really well, particularly the wrestling scenes. The hardcore stuff is intense, especially the aftermath and the tending to the wounds...Ouch That's "The Wrestler" in a nutshell, really well said. The movie is an interesting little window into the wrestling world, but it doesn't really deliver much else. (except Marisa Tomei, who looks amazing naked even though she has pretty large nipples). The ending was perhaps a little over dramatic, but still satisfying on any important level. The force behind this movie is Rourke and his portrayal of the wrestling version of himself. Rourke bulked up like a madman for this role (i think) and was able to pull off the feel of the "broken down piece of meat" look that this movie required. Rourke looks like the ultimate warrior without the face paint, but his ability to convey innocence, ignorance, vulnerability and sincerity through that facade is the real core of the character. Maybe Rourke was so good because his career mirrors that of "Randy The Ram's" but in any count... it is a brilliant performance. Go see "The Wrestler" for Rourke, Tomei, and the Wrestling Scenes (I haven't watched wrestling since I was ten), don't go see it for the great story. There are some great nuggets of the underbelly of wrestling, but everything else is too underdeveloped to really care about and feels forced. 3.5/4 over sized nipples.

Iraqi "journalist" throws shoes at Bush
MurcieOne replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Dec 15, 2008 -> 04:19 PM) I seriously hope you are kidding. The guy threw a pair of shoes at GWB in a symbolic protest of his aggression, indifference and arrogance toward the people and culture of Iraq. I do not care what country he supposedly leads, he is an unremarkable human being. Throwing shoes at him does not merit any more than 24 hours in the cooler. To suggest this reporter deserves to be tortured at Gitmo clearly illustrates why this nation (ours, not Iraq) is in such terrible shape morally. The entire world is celebrating the end of the Bush regime and whether you are conservative or liberal, it is difficult to defend this president in any way, shape or form. I was exaggerating. In fact, I think detaining anyone (citizen or terrorist) on US controlled soil without the ability to hear the evidence against them is against American Principles and Gitmo detainees should stand a fair tribunal and be cut loose if there is no proof against them. I never voted for Bush, but he's my president. I will be the first to say the War in Iraq was a TRAGIC mistake, and he should be judged accordingly based on that mistake. That being said, there is no situation where I approve of someone throwing a blunt object at him. This reporter may have been making a "statement" but I just don't care. Maybe its nationalistic, but I don't want anyone to try to harm, or embarrass my president -- no matter who it is -- for any reason. I will feel this exact same way on January 20th when President Obama takes office. -

Do the sox have a minor league team down in Gitmo? Seriously, I don't care what you think of the current president... I hope this guy is missing a few toenails right now. -
QUOTE (CubKilla @ Dec 13, 2008 -> 11:53 PM) Illinois is pretty dumb..... at least when it comes to voting. When Ryan and Blago ran for Governor, it was well known to Illinoisan's that both were being investigated for crimes commited while holding public office but Illinoisan's had to stick to voting those party lines. And don't even get me started on the Jesse Jackson Jr.'s, Luis Gutierrez's, and Todd Stroger's of Cook County. Illinois voters deserve every rib we get cause we're some dummies. TRUTH

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 08:50 PM) She's intimidating. I was watching her earlier at the press conference and she wasn't taking s*** from any of the reporters. Intelligent women, obviously. She may have been helped by her father in some capacity, but I could definitely see her being our state's governor -- or a US Senator -- some day. If it weren't for Michael Madigan... you would never have heard of Lisa Madigan. Yes she's kept her nose clean since winning the Atty General Job (she was unqualified when she originally won) but she is no different than any other politician who rides a parent's coatails to office -- especially in this state -- they owe favors. Me personally, I'd rather see a guy like Paul Vallas or Jim Ryan as our next governor. -

Please, God.... do not let this man get off scott-free. Jesse Jr. is guilty, people don't just raise 500K for no good reason, and he should be held accountable on some level. He wont go to jail, but in the public eye... people must remember. -

Hanging with Mr. Cooper... Daniel Cabrera non-tendered

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 09:40 PM) If we picked up Cabrera, do you all realize that we would be the most frustrating and worst use of stuff since Danny Wright? Maybe take a chance on him, but he sucks. Danny Wrong was a mistake of the BC era (Before Coop). As long as Coop is the pitching coach, I have faith. -

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 11:41 AM) So, is there going to be a special election to fill the vacant seat? Will Jessie Jackson Jr be the Democrat nominee? Oh man, all the GOP would have to do is get a decent candidate in the race and they could very well win. But thats asking a lot of the Illinois GOP, remember the Alan Keys fiasco. If they could coax Jim Edgar to run, I have a good feeling he could win. Still, this is Illinois and people will blindly vote democrat no matter who is running (see Todd Stroger, Blago, Daley, Madigan etc..) -
QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 10:15 PM) I don't get that trade at all from Charlotte's perspective. Richardson is the best player in the deal by a fairly wide margin and they don't really save any money either. Bell's 5 mil salary does come off the payroll in 2010, but Diaw is likely there until 2012 (player option) while Richardson will be off the books in 2011. Looks like a steal for the Suns. Agreed. Jason Richardson should fit well with Nash and the Suns.

There is some pretty decent sports radio in chicago (especially since Mike North has gone bye-bye) I can listen to any of the following, get my fix and be entertained: Mac Jurko & Harry Boers and Bernstein Waddle & Silvy Mully and Hannely Chicago Sports Radio is currently about as good as I can remember. -

If Jesse is Sen Candidate 5... how will he spin this? That he "didn't know" that his people offered 500,000 for the senate seat? I bet he wont go to jail because he will be able to claim plausible deniability... but seriously, I sure hope that people in this state remember that this MOFO was trying to buy his way into the senate chambers. -
