QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 08:08 PM) The RedSox are going to want someone to replace Manny, and I don't think Patterson will do. Yeah, that's my feeling too. I think Red Sox will have to get back two above average major leaguers back, that might kind of screw the cubs in this... also I read earlier, I think the ESPN article, that Red Sox are basically saying if you unless you're taking his whole contract, it is going to cost a lot of talent. I don't blame the Red Sox. They have an insanely good lineup and weak pitching. They need to keep that lineup at a high level, trading Manny and not getting a 1 or 2 pitcher back or legitimate offensive players, it really hurts them. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 08:04 PM) They won't give up Aramis. Hendry will find a way to make the other team sell low, I'm sure. Yeah, this isn't Pittsburg though, there's no way Epstein will get away with trading Manny without getting serious major league help right now. This isn't Nomar from last year. Manny is a whole different animal. Not that I don't think the Cubs may pull it off, but it's going to cost a lot, and I think the lack of an impact OFer to trade might cost them. -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 08:03 PM) Steve Stone was on PTI mentioning a package that included Aramis Ramirez, Patterson, Mitre and a couple of minor leagers for Manny and Mueller. wow, I think if Cubs get Manny they would want to keep Aramis... you want the Lee/Ramirez/Ramirez threat... if the Cubs aren't going to get bullpen help they need to outslug people -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 08:02 PM) I predict Manny is on the Cubs by Sunday afternoon. I think that's a possibility, only problem is the Red Sox seem to want two quality major leage ready outfielders or one OF and pitcher. I don't think Gerut or Burnitz will get it done, and I don't think the Red Sox would want Maddux -

QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 07:58 PM) I like getting people's hopes up: From rotoworld.com: Manny Ramirez - OF - BOS The Providence Journal's Sean McAdam says there are five teams involved in talks with the Red Sox regarding Manny Ramirez and that the three-team trade with the Mets and Rays is the least likely scenario right now. McAdam said two other NL clubs and two AL clubs, one the White Sox, are looking at Ramirez. I see the Dodgers and Cubs being the two NL teams... considering the contract, but I think the Mets will make a huge push for him still... but ultimately I think he stays in Boston, too big of a deal to rush through -

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 07:57 PM) Good job Duke, now let's score a couple more, and let the BP hold it down BTW, per rotoworld the White Sox have looked into acquiring ManRam?? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.... Knowing KW, that call was made, but I see the Red Sox trading him to the NL only -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 07:55 PM) Who throws harder: Iguchi underhand or Willie overhand? A third option is Jim Parque. Man, that parque comment gives me nightmares back to that "f you" start KW had Parque make in Oakland when he was b****ing about being in AAA even though he was getting shelled. That might be the worst I've ever seen someone pitch on the Major league level -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 07:48 PM) Who here thinks 4 will be enough to win this game? not I, Mora/Tejada/Palmeiro/Lopez is nasty... and Sosa may be somewhat washed up, but if you get too comfortable with him and keep laying fastballs in there he can still make a team pay -

QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 07:28 PM) Just turned 34 four days ago The only numbers that mean anything to me about Wagner this year is 98-99, which he's still lighting up the gun with. -
OK, I'm leaving for Vegas Sunday morning, but I don't want to miss posting my knee jerk reaction to any trade, or lack thereof by KW. So I'm just going to post 2 items here, generic approval of KW and a rip job of KW. I usually like to post reactionary then regret them later and don't want to miss my opportunity... Wow, great trade KW!!! I'm so f'n pumped right now. I love how agressive you are, you really addressed a need for this team. Jesus KW, you suck. I can't believe that trade (or that you didn't make a trade). You are nothing but a fluke GM who deserves to be fired. Thanks guys!!

QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 07:10 PM) The lastest from John Marzano is the following as heard on Comcast Sportsnet in Philly: Sox: Wagner Phils: BMac and Marte Don't shoot the messenger.... keep an eye on the bullpen in the game, if Marte is shaking hands and walking out, that's a sign of something!! It usually happens 1-2 times a year during the trade deadline, Farmer and Rooney just guessed Bigbie got traded since he got pulled, but he might be hurt too -

Rooney and Farmer are thinking Bagbie (sp?) might have gotten traded, they're just speculating though since it was an odd time for a change -
Damn, I was hoping with Frank out Sox would make a move for Huff, but I guess Manny out of the AL does help... should be interesting, Manny might have pushed it too far this time and he might have to go This deal may gum everything up, if it takes forever, even if it doesn't happen, it could delay everything else, and then no major moves happen.
-
OK, Boers and Bernstein think that Pie, Rich Hill or Sergio Mitre, and Jeromy Burnitz will get the Cubs Ramirez... I don't think that's enough
-
has Fuentez (sp?) the LHRP from Rockies name been thrown around anymore? That guy is good, and if Wagner is not on the market, he would be a good fit for the White Sox

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 09:11 AM) While we're on that discussion right now, how do you think Lloyd McClendon is feeling about how much the Prates owners put into the team's payroll right now? No kidding. I think McClendon will be a very good manager if he gets to a team that gives me a chance, I actually think he's done a real good job with the Pirates, he has had nothing to work with

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 09:08 AM) I think you need to understand, the Drays owner makes about as much money as any MLB owner (off of the Drays). He has a minimum payroll, minimum expenses, and gets huge checks in the form of Revenue Sharing from the bigger clubs. He's totally set right now, whether fans come or not, he could give a crap to be perfectly honest. Sure he'd like more to come, but he's not gonna dump in a bunch of money and turn his team into a losing organization. He's a horrid owner, but he makes money. yeah, they're becoming the Clippers of MLB. Donald Sterling makes so much f***ing money off that team, he has no incentive to be good.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 07:50 AM) wow bud smith...has there ever been a worse pitcher to throw a no-no Probably, since Melido Perez 6 inning no-hitter got taken away from him!!
