  1. The problem with dealing Marte is the Sox would have to pick up another bull-pen arm, Kevin Walker is not a major league pitcher. Man, after the rousing output by the offense last night I would hate to see Crazy traded, he is a solid RBI man. I liked the the line-up with Dye at 1b and Carl in RF. Not for everyday, but it's another option if they're not bringing Gload up to give PK a rest now and then
  2. Thank God I don't have to see Kevin Walker for awhile, whenever I see him warm up I get the chills :puke
  3. If there's this many teams still involved, and Burnett has a wicked start tonight, the package for him will be insane. Especially now that Wang is on the DL for the Yankees (although if Pavano can't get it done on Sunday the Yankees might have to realize they have zero shot this year without those two) they might be major players in this with a ton of $$$ going to the Marlins.
  4. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 01:10 PM) My slogan... Worst All-Star Ever Ray Durham takes that prize for me
  5. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 01:08 PM) Bartman works with my step mom, how crazy is that? My friend works in the same company as him. I guess the day after it occurred an e-mail got sent out making it very clear that anything done to him on work time or with work equipment would result in serious discipline (can't remember if he said you would get fired or not)
  6. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 05:35 PM) Apparently Crede has soreness in his back. He blows anyway. I still have my Eric Chavez voodoo shrine going. If I keep praying and chanting maybe he will come. Oakland is like 5 out of the wild card right now and on a hot streak, unless they tank in the next 3 weeks, they may be buying, not selling
  7. this game, and series for that matter, really showed me how much of an anchor Crede really is for this team. He may have some awful at bats, but his glove is so vital for this team. I really hope he's OK after the all-star break
  8. The real sad thing with this is that the NBA just keeps pouring money into the WNBA. I think they should shut down the WNBA and take that money and set up a legitimate minor league system. The NBDL is a good start, but not good enough IMO.
  9. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 05:19 PM) Willie - See ya in Charlotte. You really are dumb. Yeah, after this series, I think Timo got his head off the chopping block in my book. Willie looked like a clown in his first two AB's on Friday and in his bunt attempt today. He seems overmatched at the plate right now, with zero chance of getting a hit. When Gload comes back Willie has to go, if Crede needs days off put Juan at 3b and Pablo at SS. Gload can back-up PK. I think Kenny needs to get another solid bench player though.
  10. The thing that's scaring me now is that the A's are like 5 out of the wild card. There's a chance that if the Sox get into the playoffs they'll be looking at a best of 5 with the A's
  11. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 05:08 PM) 4 at Cleveland right out of the gate. HUGE series to go at worst 2-2 in. The 9 game lead has given them some cushion, but they can't roll in there and get swept or go 1-3, then some of the old demons of doubt in the players might start popping up
  12. Willie should have pinch run for Carl when he got on 1st, then tried to steal. He also should have pinch hit Dye for Willie and left Paulie in there to run, Willie has shown he can't bunt or move runners along
  13. While I think the 9 game lead will give us some protection in the 2nd half, this series is the first time this year that made me start to doubt this team. Saturdays game was horrible, they were absolutely dead, and Ozzie even called them out on that. Today was a day Freddy needed to step up, the Sox didn't get one out when they really needed it. I think this is a very solid team, but I think KW needs to add a piece, definitely one in the bullpen if Damaso is going to be hurt, but another starter or atleast a solid utility backup IF is needed
  14. Later this afternoon Gammons is reporting it's off due to financial situation
  15. they really don't bug me to much right now. I will hate it if some of the Cubs Traveling Clown Show starts to come over, ie costumes, etc. the one that will piss me off the most will be if Jim Belushi tries to stick his fat head into this, I think we should send a pre-emptive strike letter to Brooks Boyer telling him not to let that clown anywhere near the park
  16. The Cubs broadcasters had this question on their blog and read some of the replies on the air, and even the Cubs fans said that he has to go in as a Brave
  17. I read a note in either Thurs or Wed Sun-Times that said the Sox have sold 1.85 million tickets up to this point, including the ones presold for future games
  18. QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 11:13 AM) FWIW, since the Boggs/D-Rays mess, the HOF no longer lets the player decide what is on his cap on his plaque. I think the Fisk White/Red Sox choice may have contributed as well (since one of the main reasons he picked the Red was because he supposedly hates JR)
  19. Len Kasper brought it up, and so did Plesac on ESPN 1000 that there is a debate which hat Maddux will wear into the Hall of Fame, Braves or Cubs. Now I hate the Cubs, so I may be biased, but there's no doubt in my mind he goes in as a Brave. I know he started and was developed by the Cubs, but the bulk of his wins are with the Braves, he won a world series with them and won 12 or 13 straight division titles. Only possible argument I see is if the Cubs win the world series and he has a serious contribution to it.
  20. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 05:05 PM) Jon Favreau was with Vince Vaughn and was wearing a Sox jersey. haha, yeah, I saw Favreau there, and at first I was thinking who is that extremely large fat guy bothering Vaughn, but then I realized who it was.... he's kind of let himself go. And if makes anyone feel better, when I saw Vaughn on TV he was just wearing a gray shirt and had taken of the Cubs jersey
  21. uh-oh, wasn't there concern that Paulie's participation in his last HR Derby screwed up his swing and tanked his second half?
  22. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 02:45 AM) Hopefully this is where we can gain some ground back on them. They got LAA and we have Tampa. We lost 1 game on this road trip, considering they played KC and Tampa and we had to play at the freakin Colleseum, that ain't all bad. Yeah, that's the luxury of building up a big league, when there's a ,matchup that favors one team over the other like the Twins had this week, it's not as bad. But all in all, a 4-2 road trip is solid, that's why sweeping the Tigers was so important. Now I can actually watch the games, when they go into Oakland I refuse to watch because I know some funky stuff is going to go down
  23. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 11:30 AM) I'm probably well there's no probably about it I am in the minority here but I don't think Jenny Finch is all that good looking. She has a nice body and all but I just feel she's overrated because she's an athlete. She looks like a f***ing Goldfish!!!!!!!! may be in the minority, but I'm with you in it, so you're not alone. She is a hybrid of media tactics -she's one part "out of place hot" meaning there's not a ton of hot chicks in her field, so it's that much more obvious that she is attractive (ie, Danaca Patrick) -she's also "media hype" where the media just shoves these people down your throats and just label them "hot" (ie Sarah Jessica Parker) with that said, she's not ugly, but I agree she's not as hot as everyone makes her out to be
  24. this may sound crazy, but if by the end of July the Sox realize they can't resign Konerko for a reasonable price I wouldn't mind seeing them making a run for Lyle Overbay for bench duties for the rest of the year, then have him in place for the future. It would mean chucking Ross Gload for this year, but that would be a solid plan IMO
  25. I hope Cooper told B-Mac not to shake off the catchers, I want the Sox to put the responsibility for bad outings at this stage of his career on the coaches and/or the catchers. It will keep his pace up and make him think less out there.
