  1. I'm having waves of panic thinking about Crazy in the OF, he will either; 1. Botch a crucial fly ball 2. injure himself 3. Injure someone else also, Willie is at 2nd batting in the 2 spot today
  2. QUOTE(kapkomet @ May 19, 2005 -> 03:59 PM) If the NBA goes dark, holy f*** there are some buildings in BIG ass trouble. Yeah, old Uncle Bill won't be able to sell us his liqour!!
  3. Consider the source, but Offman was saying the Sox don't think there's anything seriously wrong with El Duque, they just realize he will need rest during the season and they're not going to push it with him, so their taking advantage of their pitching depth. I think the real story will be the roster move. If El Duque goes on the DL I will be worried, but if they keep him on the 25 and option Walker, I'll feel better about his health situation
  4. If Wagner gets traded, they will wait until July 31st and get a s***load for him. However, Phils are only 5 out I believe, so if they're still "in it" it would be difficult for them to trade him and not piss off their fans.
  5. QUOTE(THEWOOD @ May 19, 2005 -> 12:43 PM) are you talking about trying to buy saturday tix? I am able to select tix but then it goes to a screen that says no tix left no, it was Friday, but once I went on to explorer off of our DSL YAHOO at work it works fine, but decided against going ultimately
  6. eh, i'm having trouble pulling the trigger on buying tickets. Have had a few good seats pop-up, but I really do hate Cubs fans and having to be surrounded by them just drive me away
  7. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ May 19, 2005 -> 12:28 PM) Me too I wonder when/if they will release the xtra's for saturday and sunday... odd, I'm getting the pop-up screen and they are listing me tickets, but when I push on the "continue" button it says it can't read it
  8. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ May 19, 2005 -> 12:22 PM) It was working fine for me....there are tickets out there... yeah, I'm having no trouble getting tickets to appear either, but now they are only lower deck, but under the stands, and I hate sitting under there, it blocks the views, but there are still some available
  9. The NHL needs Crosby in a big market or a huge hockey town. They are going to do something to give NY, Det, etc, a legitimate shot at landing him
  10. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 17, 2005 -> 09:14 PM) Kevin millar and a couple others in mvp. I'm not sure if Millar fits this, but I know during the strike of '94 there were a few players who were going to be replacement players, and they're not in the union, so there are a few MLB players still not appearing in the games
  11. i'm not seeing freddy get killed due to lack of velocity though, it's leaving pitches up. I think he just may be a pitcher who has trouble pitching with a lead, he gets lazy and starts laying things right over the plate. Then when he gets into a jam he bears down and throws stuff lower in the zone and gets better results. He was over 100 pitches going into the 7th last night, and after only using Hermanson the night before there was no reason the bull-pen didn't start that inning.
  12. so the idea is to have a guy who can't even stay healthy with getting at least four days rest between pitching in games and have him pitch on consecutive days at times? Yeah, that's really f***ing smart! And that s*** about him being one of the most unhittable pitchers in baseball is just silly at this point. This guy is so overhyped.
  13. QUOTE(The Critic @ May 15, 2005 -> 06:06 AM) Dusty hasn't decided yet on which precautionary measure he'll use for Zambrainless. It's either: 1) skip his next start or 2) have him throw 167 pitches in his next start "Duuuude, we have to decide what's best for Z long-term, but we also gotta win a game now and then, duuuuude!" Baker said. "dude that's society, that's what people do. You have a sore arm you just keep throwing with it, anyways Z is hispanic, and hispanic people arms are always in pain..." Seriously though, this could be a major story. They said he left with forearm pain, but now it looks like it's his elbow. Makes one wonder if the other times he left with forearm pain, he really was having other symptoms. If Zambrano is seriously injured this kills the Cubs for awhile because Wood is obviously an injury b****, Zambrano would be hurt, and Guzman in the minors is hurt again. Cubs really need to look into their pitcher workouts/routines or their scouting of mechanics
  14. Congratulations... I just finished my last paper for law school last night, so I'm done too!!!
  15. FWIW weather.com has taken off "thunderstorms" for tonight and replaced it with "few showers".... God damn it's slow at work today
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 12, 2005 -> 12:54 PM) Ok, I did misunderstand... Let me ask you this then...Latroy Hawkins was excellent out of the closer's spot in Minnesota. Would you consider trading for him now? I sure as all Hell wouldn't, and I wouldn't take Dotel either. I just have trouble buying the whole "They're great as a setup man and terrible as a closer, if we put them back as a setup man they'll be great again" line of thinking. If a guy is struggling, he'll struggle whether or not it's the 8th or the 9th inning. He has to prove to me that he can still be a good setup man again before I'd even consider taking him. as odd as that logic may be, I personally buy into it. Saving games is 90% mental, and some guys like LaTroy can not handle it at all, but they have no problem when there is a less stressful situation
  17. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 12, 2005 -> 12:43 PM) I can't figure this guy out. He picks the White Sox in spring training to win the AL Central, then the White Sox get off to the best start in their history, and all of a sudden he sours on them. How can you turn your back on a preseason pick when they start off to the best record in baseball? Anyone else would be gloating that their preseason pick was doing so well. I like the guy, but that just blows my mind. this make no sense. Ugly uniforms? The Sox have standard uniforms that I've never heard anyone label as ugly... this is just odd
  18. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 10, 2005 -> 06:20 AM) Burke has cleared waivers at least twice the last 6 months, maybe 3 times. Chances are he will again, and his choices will be playing in Charlotte, signing a minor league contract with another team, or retiring. What would the seminars be at said convention? The pros and cons of the "hockey style" mask, how to organize pitch charts...
  19. QUOTE(knightni @ May 12, 2005 -> 12:12 PM) Trade deadline and LAA of A are locks for the division: Would the A's trade Chavez and Dotel to the Sox? Would those players help the Sox for what their salaries are? I would LOVE Chavez on the Sox. Crede would probably "move on" if Boras has his way. What do you think. Peter Gammons errr.. I mean knightni I don't think Chavez is going anywhere. They let Giambi and Tejada walk and made a big deal about how Beane selected Chavez to build around
  20. Probably a good career move, Paxson is young and doing a great job, no real way for B.J. to move up. Good luck B.J.... I agree, you will always be a Bull
  21. Watched some of the game yesterday on ESPN 2, he is flat out filthy right now
  22. just looked at the radar on weather.com... it looks like it will stop pretty much all rain for awhile, which will allow the field to drain for a few hours. Then there's a band in mid to eastern Iowa, but that's all basically light green, meaning light showers. I think they'll play tonight.
  23. 26, Born and raised in Villa Park, went to college at Elmhurst... don't like leaving the area!!
  24. QUOTE(Goldmember @ May 6, 2005 -> 09:32 PM) 1. If you think you're fat, you probably are. Don't ask us. Easily the funniest one, and my personal number 1 rule
  25. Yeah I will buy it. Saw them on Wed at the Aragon, they sounded great, including the new material
