  1. that's OK, I didn't want to take a stab at spelling Eckstein, but I think that's right
  2. posted this on the "Levine" thread too.. Wscr saying it's done, incentives after 100 innings, taking physical right now... Sox also have interest in Eck
  3. Him laughing at the Carl Lewis National Anthem tape is some of the funniest s*** I've ever seen, he completely lost it
  4. WSCR is saying it's a done deal on their updates.... incentives after 100 innings, taking physical right now... Sox showing interest in Eck
  5. Ex Yankee, new Dodger broadcaster Charlie Steiner is on with Boers and Bernstein, and they asked him about El Duque.... He said he came back 2 months early from surgery, pitched very well until he seemed to run out of gas. Said it would be a good signing for the Sox if he's their 4th or 5th starter and they don't expect him to start 33 games... Also said one of the reasons he left NY was the atmosphere there, said winning wasn't fun, it was a relief...
  6. Just heard El Duque is 39????? That can't be right... damn. Also heard he's only made 30 starts in one of his 7 seasons.... great
  7. what a bunch of douche bags.... Cubs fans really don't get that the Cubs have to make money, they can't even break even, it wouldn't make sense for a corporation to have a known money making part of their business and downgrade it and still carry all the potential liability... un f***in real thanks for the update
  8. No, they've ragged on him for being wrong before... I think it's someone else... Boers wouldn't consider him a source... Ofman is an absolute joke... on Saturday morning he was on with Rosenthal and he said "The white sox are for sure the 4th team" Meaning the NY/LA/AZ trade.... Then later WSCR was reporting that the Sox are not the 4th team and smugly said "no matter what rumors you heard" of course not saying that they were reporting it for over 1/2 the day
  9. not only that, but Beltran has said he really liked playing in Houston, so it sounds like the Cubs would have to outbid the Astros...
  10. FWIW, Terry Boers said "His guy" said El Duque to the Sox is done... I know that ain't worth s***, but I can't listen to Mariotti without stabbing my eyes out, so listening to Boers and Bernstein.... Boers did work in the newspaper industry for awhile, but his NBA sources are usually good, not sure about his baseball sources
  11. What are the cubs fans asking? Is it like "Why don't the Cubs just sign Beltran and keep Sosa? I'm a stupid idiot who throws money at them blindly and have no clue they're owned by a corporation and actually have to show a profit." Seriously though, what are they asking? They should be angry at their GM for not landing a closer...
  12. It would be a good offseason, not great... I would just be thrilled that there's 5 starting pitchers in place... sorry if this has been asked on the board... but didn't El Duque's arm basically fall off last year? I know he pitched in the playoffs, but what was the injury situation?
  13. This is just a hunch... but I think the Cubs name will get thrown around with Sosa... NY may be willing to send a ton of cash to cover his contract If NY signs Beltran soon then I think this is a real possiblity, without signing Beltran NY might not want to do this because it would throw another bidder in for him...
  14. Thanks for taking the time to write what a lot of us were thinking!!
  15. This will be interesting to see what happens with Beltran... either Good King George panics and inks him tomorrow for whatever he wants, or he delays and works on RJ more.... I think Beltran hangs out there longer...
  16. I agree that if the White Sox thought he was going to be an asshole and a problem on the team they souldn't have signed him... I'm just pissed that KW ran the risk of losing Davis at this point... 99% or not, the Cavs in the NBA had an agreement with Boozer that he would resign with them, then he bolted to the Jazz... s*** happens... I'm OK with Burke/Davis if KW does something else... but would have HATED Burke/whoever is left...
  17. OK, so KW knew he wasn't going to sign AJ, and ran the risk of FA'ing Davis? WTF??? What if Red Sox or Dodgers liked their scouting reports for Davis and offerred him 1.5m??? Not that Davis is a great catcher, but there ain't much left on the market!! Unreal.... I have zero faith of any additional moves
  18. I would be first in line and want seconds if KW suprises me... until then I will continue (and enjoy) being a cynical bastard
  19. Well I think submitting the papers is "pulling the trigger" (unless someone knows of a way they can still back out) so I hope Drew is all but signed
  20. What's the timetable on the new "Fundamentals" area in LF? I thought it was this offseason, but I thought they would have had to start construction on that? Is it also set for 2006?
  21. yeah, that's what I was thinking... I think he'll make a huge deal out of AJ if he signs him, and than in the PR camaign for the AJ signing he'll really start to stress the "We like what we've got for our rotation" rhetoric
  22. FWIW, ESPN national updates on the radio are saying the Dodgers have a 4th team they're dealing with to add a bat, but no info on who it is...
  23. If we sign AJ, this is a very solid move... even if we don't it's OK... it's 1m, probably not going to get another catcher of ben's level for 1m, plus he's familiar with the staff
