Right, I don't want to hear all ass-kissing radio, but with Mariotti a lot of his arguments seemed personal or baseless. His job is not to rip on teams to stir controversy. His job is to create conversation using a variety of tactics. People like Mariotti and North who say conterversial things only to "stir-up" fans show how little talent they actually have.

Just reported on AM 1000 that the Mets and Astros are probably the only serious bidders on him... says the Cubs are out because of Sosa/payroll and they don't like to give contracts over 5 years

Cubs needed to do two things this off-season to improve. 1. Solidify their bull-pen with a legitamte closer 2. Put a line-up on the field that can generate a run in tight games as of yet they have failed to do these two things. There's still plenty of time in the off-season, but I do agree that Hendry has been getting a free pass. I still say he should be getting s*** for not making a play at Hudson and Mulder.

The Reds GM was on ESPN Radio All-Night last night and he and the host were talking about Milton like he was Roger Clemens circa 1986... It was insanity... the GM had this smug tone like he just pulled off a major coup... Not once did they mention his numbers... They were referring to him as an "elite" level FA...

I thought it was a typo when I first saw those numbers... that really may be the worst contract of this offseason.... which is saying a lot... why wouldn't the Reds be in on the Clement signing if they're going to spend that type of money?

Just heard on the Score that one of Houston's points to Beltran and Boras was that their 6 year 96 million dollar contract will have to be substantialy beat by the Yankees or Cubs because Texas has no state income tax.

Wow, Boras is so damn good at his job... I don't think they even had another team sniffing at him, and he got what he wanted... (except I heard he didn't get the "no-trade" clause he wanted... but in the 3rd and 4th years I think he'll be 36 and 37, which should be as effective as a no-trade clause)
