The Cubs are extremely bizarre with their stories on injuries. I heard Hendry's comments about Wood and he basically said "He can pitch on Sunday, but we want him to be 100%, he's only about 95%." At some point the Cubs are going to have to realize that either Wood and Prior learn to pitch at less than 100%, which I would say a good portion of ML pitchers do, or they will each have 2-3 stints on the DL every year. If it's an issue with mechanics then that has to be addressed, but the "100%" issue is crazy to me, after spring training nobody is 100%, so who even knows what that means

What's the update on Maggs and Willie? Both ESPN radio and WSCR didn't update their status during my lunch today and I can't find a recent post here

Jose for Sele straight-up may happen if the Angels are willing to eat money... I'm intrigued by the Benson trade rumors Gammons mentioned (I think on BBTN) Good to see that KW is being aggressive, I believe that between late may and early June you can get the most value in trades because early in the season everyone feels there in it and near the trade deadline a serious bidding war starts. But if you can earmark a particular player around this time of year you can make quality trades. This is an old rumor (about 1 month ago) but Gammons thinks that the White Sox will be players if Griffey ever gets traded (I know Gammons is shaky at best, but I listen to ESPN radio a lot and his Andrew Jackson looking ass is on there a lot)

I believe Stark on ESPN said Seattle is probably going to move him since there seems like very little possibility of a turnaround this year... Also said Meche and Pinero (SP?) are not likely to be moved unless they get a substantial offer

PK go yard?!?!?!??!

Is it raining at the game? It is POURING in Glen Ellyn

Kerry Wood left the Cub-LA game after 3 innings:

I never want to see an athlete have a career ending injury (Well, maybe like a Bill Laimbeer (SP?), even if it is the Flubs... I think it would be funnier if they lost the division with everyone healthy (The way the Astros are rolling that would be a good possibility) -
Not 100% sure what happened tonight in the OF seats (I think LF?) Farmer mentioned there was a fight, then listening to the Score after softball it sounds like some guys in Cubs jerseys got a beat down. I'm just real curious to see how the Cubune handles this story, I'm going to be pissed as hell if they make a big deal about it, because they BURIED the shooting after the Cubs game this week. It will be interesting to see what Jay "I suck" Marriotti (SP?) says Does anyone know what exactly happened out there tonight? AHHHH, just writing this I'm getting pissed because I know a lot of media outlets are going to make a big deal out of this, much bigger than they made out of A GODDAMNED MURDER!!!! :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou

You have to get Tivo, it totally ROCKS!!!

Rauch doesn't seem to be pitching that poorly this year, his YTD ERA is 3.29... Don't forget he spot started yesterday for Diaz, so that's probably why he went only 4 and 2/3
-
Diaz or Grilli could be called up in a few days

Is Raush (SP) worth anything in trades anymore? Following his stats a little this season it seems like he only had one bad outing, and it doesn't seem like the Sox are interested in giving him a shot (unless he's out of options and they don't want to call him up for a short time). He seems to be pitching well in AAA. Anyone got a line on what the Sox thoughts are with him? -
KC wouldn't want to trade him in the division and Sox wouldn't want to trade their young talent within the division. He'll be a Yankee or Cub by August 1st

**The Official let's see what Feliz Diaz can do**

I can't agree more.... I'm sick and tired of seeing Wright trot out there every 5th game.... If we had nobody who should get a legitmate chance to start that would be one thing, but with Diaz, Cotts, Raush (SP?), and even Kohlmeir (SP?) pitching excellent to good there's no reason for him to start anymore -
Just want to let you guys know, I pissed some of my Cubs fan friends off tonight when I parked about three blocks away from the bar we were going to and said "Sorry it took me so long, I just 'Cubs bullpen my way here'" (Meaning I WALKED here). Kind of lame, but it got under their skin!!!)

I know Hawk dwells on it a lot, but I know how he feels! It was sad how dead the team use to look the last few years, it is really exciting to watch the games now, and I give the vast majority of that credit to Oz. I do give some credit to KW though, he brought Uribe in, he knew Shoey should get a shot at starter... I'm just waiting for a move on Wright (and after Cotts last few appearances and Diaz's numbers in AAA it's about time something happens).

This sounds awesome! Levine is a Cubs fan, but he does a pretty good job of staying even (Sometimes he slips into Cub fan mode). But I am going to have to give him mad props for this!! I'm so glad somebody is finally sticking it to Mariotti, I would love to hear his reaction when somebody corrected him. I have no idea why he's on TV or in a major market

PLEASE GIVE MORE DETAILS!!!

time to start giving williams some credit?

I think another big test will be who he adds in a play-off run, but I do think he's done a good job so far... -
I think Carlos is an extremely streaky hitter (as well as Crede). Him and Joe are going to end up with good numbers at the end of the year, but there will be weeks when we will be molding their plaques for Cooperstown, and then there will be weeks (like the last couple) where we will want to run them out of town. Although, I do think Carlos is better off batting 2nd, I like the line-up of; 1. Harris 2. Lee 3. Maggs 4. Thomas 5. Konerko 6. JosE-5 7. Uribe 8. A-Row 9. Olivo I just like Lee's approach bettern in the 2nd spot. Although, I do think his AB in the 9th yesterday was decent. The 4th ball was close, and usually he's hacking at that (Makes me wonder if Ozzie put the take sign on )

I'm just waiting for Dickface's column when he jumps on the Sox bandwagon (It's bound to happen). I say it happens if the White Sox play well against Boston, or if the Sox make a major trade near the deadline. He did it last year when he did the column praising Manuel.... It'll be his same old s*** about how "he had a feeling" about this team and no mention of his ridiculous columns earlier in the year. I don't know if anyone remembers it, but about 2-3 years ago he wrote a column about how "hip" he was (I'm f'n serious about this), and how he cruises in his sports car. It was one of the creepiest columns I've ever read, but the funny thing was after he wrote it a caller on WSCR called up on "Who Ya Crappin?" and said "Hey Jay, Miata's don't count as 'sports cars'"

Shingo's 62-65mph change-up is FILTHY! It's almost like watching the Bugs Bunny cartoon when he throws the "slow ball". He doesn't slow his motion down at all and it takes forever to get there. I think at worst he's going to be an outstanding righty/righty match-up pitcher. Crede is definitely becoming a "Don't tell me what you hit, tell me when you hit it" type of players.... Which the Sox really need. Sox need to learn hot to bunt... that Olivo attempt was little league at best, and Dransfeldt... well I guess there's a reason he is a career AAA player And WOW, that catch Crawford made was AWESOME!

I agree that it is too early for a move... At this point you are not going to get any value for trades. If Danny Wright keeps struggling I want the Sox to give Rausch and Diaz a crack at the 5th starter spot before trading out of the organization. I really want the Sox to make a move on Orlando Cabrera (SP?) from the Expos.... They suck to high heaven and are not going to resign him. Expos can't hit, so young OF prospects may intrigue them, the Sox would have to make this move in June or early July before the bidding got out of control for him... I'm sure the Cubs, Angels, Dodgers, Red Sox (if Nomar is not healthy), and many other teams would have a ton of interest.

My whole family is from the South Side (Harlem and Archer area), and I couldn't think of being anything else than a Sox Fan.... The only thing that worries me is my father married a Cubs fan! Am I destined for the same fate?

I think Cliff has been outstanding this year, the only "bad" outing he had was opening day, but Ozzie will probably take the blame for keeping him in so long. I really enjoy watching him pitch, he just rears back and throws 95-97. I think if Shingo can pitch consistently they will be a great contrast in styles coming out of the bull-pen. Hopefully he can be this years Tom Gordon for KW.... also, Adkins has kicked some ass as well! If we can get Botch somewhat straightned out the bull-pen can be a real strength

here's some items Gammons mentioned about the White Sox in his latest article... Seems like he may be doing a 180 on his pre-season comments.... "The White Sox. What we so often forget is that raw numbers like run differential said the White Sox should have won the division last year. Making up for the loss of Bartolo Colon is essential, but Esteban Loaiza has come out throwing his cutter close to the efficiency of '04. Jon Garland and Scott Schoeneweis are off to good starts. GM Ken Williams hopes Schoeneweis, armed with a new cutter and changeup, is this year's Loaiza. They have a lot of thunder, and if the bullpen holds together, what manager Ozzie Guillen has brought is daily energy to a team that in the past was a momentum team. Don't think it hasn't been noticed that White Sox phenom center fielder Jeremy Reed is hitting over .400 at Triple-A Charlotte, after hitting .373 on the way up last year. He could give them some left-handed balance to a right-handed lineup. Several agents thought Garret Anderson's four-year, $48 million deal was light, but Anderson has never been a money person and wanted to stay with a very successful team where he is the unspoken heart and soul. "That should impact Troy Glaus if he wants to stay there," says one agent. "It also impacts Magglio Ordonez (whom Williams is trying to lock up) and Nomar Garciaparra."
