I know I'm probably looking way to deep into the situation but I think a reason Torre (SP?) picked Loiza for the all-star team is to grease the wheels on the Yankees signing him next year. Their staff is getting older and thinner, with very little to no help in the minors. They will be willing to overpay for him, and getting on good terms with him and his agent by selecting him to the all star team seems like a logical step

I'm still very curious on how much the new TV deal will help with revenue, I assume it will raise it somewhat because what's the point in doing it if it won't raise revenue?

I think Garcia pitched well today, I think he was extremely pumped up for the game and he wore himself down quicker than he usually does. Also, Jose should have gotten an out on that error play, and a man on second with that extra out is a whole lot different. I LOVED how he didn't walk anybody, he had a three run lead and he was going to make the Twins earn a tie, not give it to them I was extremely happy and really looking forward to Freddy's next start

I tend to agree... I don't think it will be a complete disaster, but he'll give up 4 runs over six Basically I just think he'll be wild in the first inning and then settle down for the rest of his outing... not a sign of things to come because I love the trade and think it will work out well... just have an odd feeling about tonights game

Makes sense, teams have to do something to try and track him better, the hitters up there now obviously have "Zero" clue on how to hit him

I would love this move. If we were making a move for a standard catcher I would be leery, but Kendal is a legitamte #2 hitter which would be awesome in this line-up. (of course this is all based on Pitt eating some of that contract, that sucker is giant)

How much bitching have you heard from Cub fans
SoxFan562004 replied to WSoxShuf's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That was the curious thing with B&B, they were saying how good of a position the Cubs are in but saying the Astros are in a lot of trouble.... even though they're only 2 games behind the Cubs with Petite (sp?) actually coming off the DL tomorrow. -

Not a lot of Cubs b****ing, but Boers and Bernstein are acting like the Cubs are in zero trouble and once Wood comes back everything will be OK -
YOUR WHITE SOX WISH LIST for KW after Garcia Trade
SoxFan562004 replied to RibbieRubarb's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I would like the Sox to take a hard look at getting Jason Kendal. He would be a solid C and a very good #2 hitter. The only roadblock is his huge burdensome contract -
ESPN 1000: Freddy Garcia traded to the White Sox
SoxFan562004 replied to Flash Tizzle's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I like the trade... Yeah I'll miss Olivo, but you have to give up something to get something. Reed could be good, but he hasn't played in the majors at all, so it's all potential talk. I know Garcia doesn't potentially have a 3.20 ERA this year. With Anderson still in the system along with Sweeny (sp?), Borchard, and Lee signed for a couple more years the Sox had a log jam in the outfield. -
I'm not freaking out, but games like the first one against the Cubs make me sick... The Sox had no chance to win that game, and it wasn't only because the Cubs played better. The Sox gave themselves no chance to win, it looked like Jerry Manuel was managing the team again....

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=kruk/040625 Basically says something I totally agree with, that prospects are just prospects, if you have a chance to win now, do it!!!

5th starter means Sox victory! merged threads
SoxFan562004 replied to The Beast's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Holy s***, I'm at work listening to the came and getting updates on Gamecast when I'm away from the radio, so I load up Gamecast and see the bases are loaded with zero outs, but I thought it was Cleveland up in the top of the ninth.... I threw up in my mouth a little and closed Gamecast right away, but when I got back to the radio I figured out it was the Sox!!! Damn, that was scarry!! -

Have they said what the chances of getting this game in today is? It's raining in Glen Ellyn and the radar looks bad until Iowa. (sorry if this was asked already) -
I may be crazy, but I think Rauch is the best option for 5th starter right now, I know he got crushed against the Braves and his personal actions leave a lot to be desired, but he is the oldest and it's put up or shut up time for him. Either he can make it in the Majors or he can't, he's done all that he can prove in the minors... Munoz and Diaz still are young enough where more innings in the minors could benefit them If this doesn't work they have to overpay in a trade or bite the bullet and send Cotts down to stretch his arm out to start this year

It will be interesting to see how the Sox front office handles attendance questions if attendance is up this year. Looking at the Braves series I think the Sox have the potential to break 2 million this year (based on the fact that they were close last year). If this happens and the with the Sox getting the new TV deal which wouldn't be done unless it meant more $$$$ the Sox are going to start running out of excuses if Maggs leaves and they don't sign an impact free agent or at least resign Loiza (although the Yankees will probably overpay for Loiza if he keeps his numbers where they are at right now)
-
I would be worth taking a look at, but he isn't pitching a well as he has in the past. I would think the Cubs and a few other teams are going to want middle relief or a closer, so the price may get driven up

Dan Bernstein on the Score 670 reported they succombed to mascot cancer and are no longer with us

I'm also guessing Smoltz has a no trade, either in contract or via 5/10 rule. So if he was ever to accept a trade I'm sure he would demand the team picking him up would have to guarantee the option

Ordonez feeling good after surgery
SoxFan562004 replied to greasywheels121's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Good to see JR and Maggs are on talking terms at least, still a slim hope he can resign. Regarding the topic though, I hope Maggs doesn't rush himself back before he's ready... I would rather have him out an extra 1-2 weeks instead of 1-2 months -
Just scanning the AAA stats I noticed Jeremy Reed's AVG. is down over .100 in the last month... Is there any scouting reports on the cause?

Bruce Levine was just on Silvy and Carm on ESPN 1000, he said it would take a top ML hitter (Konerko or Lee) and a young player

I think Boers and WSCR took the comments a touch out of context. I think they make a whole lot more sense when you realize Hawk was including himself in the "nobody knows baseball" comment, and especially in the fact that it was made in regards to the Rangers being better without A-Rod. I'll agree that the comments about "never playing the game" are over the top, and gets old when anybody says it. But for the most part I think Hawk's comments weren't as bad as some are playing them out to be
