I imagine that if we gave up Konerko and Garland, we would be getting more than "just" Vazquez. The Yankees could send a ton of cash our way, or maybe some other players. The cash could then be used to sign a fifth starter. I wouldn't mind Garland being the number 5, but it's a ripoff for $3.4 million. You bring up the point of wanting Vazquez to be our #3 starter, but keep in mind I used a bad year from Vazquez to point out he puts the ball in play less than Garland, and that for 3 consecutive seasons Jonny boy was given the #3 starter's spot.

I would love to have a big three of Buehrle, Garcia, and Vazquez for the next 3 years. f*** Garland. I just can't stand him anymore.
-
I compared Garland to Vazquez because some people were against the idea of getting Vazquez because we would potentially give up Garland because Jon is also supposed to be a "groundball pitcher."
-
I got the stats from mlb.com. They didn't have Vazquez's go/ao for 1998, so I didn't take that into account. Apparently in 1998 he had a great g/f ratio that was able to make his career g/f 1.18 which is only .12 difference from Garland's. You have to think about this. Instead of giving up ground balls, Vazquez strikes out guys. This skews his career go/ao ratio which is less (only a difference of .12) than Garland's. I have shown you that Garland puts the ball in play more than Vazquez (I even used a bad year for Vazquez) and yet Garland's GO/AO is only .12 better. I believe Vazquez would be no worse than Garland at USCF, because he strikes more guys out, and has a lower WHIP than Garland. Garland's career WHIP of 1.44

I posted this in another thread to DBAH0, but noone responded to it. :banghead I'm sorry, this argument is getting tiring. So do you have a stat that tells us how many homers Vazquez would've allowed at USCF, or are you just assuming because he had more flyballs hit to the warning track at Yankee Stadium? He may be less of a groundball pitcher, but he still allows fewer baserunners, and he strikes people out (which is why he allows less balls in play!) Career: Garland GO/AO 1.3, WHIP 1.44 Vazquez GO/AO .995, WHIP 1.28 The question is, who is more likely to prevent the ball from entering play? In 2004 Jon Garland got 284 ground outs, and 244 "Fly outs" (I'm assuming line drives and popups fall under the "AO" category at MLB.com) Jon also had 113 K' and gave up 223 hits. Jon put the ball in play 751 times for the 864 batters he faced, or 87% of the time. In 2004 Javier Vazquez got 189 ground outs, and 248 "Fly outs" (I'm assuming line drives and popups fall under the "AO" category at MLB.com) Javy also had 150 K's and gave up 195 hits. Javy put the ball in play 632 times for the 782 batters he faced, or 81% of the time. Keep in mind that this was a "bad" year for Javy, yet he had a smaller % of putting the ball in play than Garland, and still walked less guys. I'll take Vazquez, and maybe you should stop assuming that every flyball he gives up will sail over the fence.

I wonder if Wilson would like to come back to play with and under some of his former teammates. Guillen, Raines, Cora, and Thomas.

Aaron Myette, yes THE Aaron Myette, signed with the Phillies for a minor league deal. Todd Jones signed with the Marlins.
-
Yeah, but you have to get them from Danny Neagle's hooker. :puke :puke :puke

Here's a quickie: <-----------KW

Or start every sentence with "I tell you wat,"

Jerry Reinsdorf? KW wanted Gaston.

I can not for a second imagine Wells in an Indians uniform after those Indians ripped on his mother dying a few years ago.
-
How come they didn't mention the Sox moves? Seriously, what this big hype around Detroit? They have a lot of money to spend, but so far they have overpaid on Troy Percival, missed out on Kent, and now missed out on Finley.

Kevin Appier signed a minor league deal with the Royals.

Kruk lost some weight, not enough, but some.

I'm that Ozzie learned alot about managing a bullpen after his first year in the bigs. Who can forget that fiasco in Oakland? Ozzie= :dips***
-
Is that how the Bradford-Olivo trade went down? :rolly BTW, who is "Bean," and why would he tell KW to "give us our best player?"
-
Me too. I didn't know until I was about 12, and my parents told me when I was really young they had to do a bunch of tests on me, but they said it was no biggie. At least I get out of Military Service, and the recuiters stop calling my house.

I don't know about you, but there was talk if Nomar was being traded to LA, the Dodgers were going to start by giving us Mota and Perez. Don't forget that the Red Sox were also going to ship Scott Williamson to us. How does a rotation of Buehrle Loaiza Garland Perez Schoeneweis look like coming into season with a bullpen of Koch Williamson Mota Marte Shingo Politte Cotts

Bonds has money deffered to him until 2011. Griffey Jr. has money deffered to him until 2024. Clemens has money deffered to him until 2014 by the Yankees. Charles' last name is spelled Comiskey.

And if he isn't the fifth starter come April will you leave Soxtalk forever?

Well now you are just backtracking. He was trying to get a starter right around the time of the Everett and Alomar trades in early July. How many teams do you think want to deal a starting pitcher in June? There were reports about the Sox almost getting weaver from the Yanks, but the Sox didn't want to give up Cotts. What about Hawk's trade that "will knock your socks off?" I want a complete 5 man rotation as much as anyone, but sometimes you have to cut corners to fill out that rotation, especially if you're working for the White Sox. That could result in Robert Personor giving an invite to Carlos Castillo. :puke I can't figure out for the life of me why Reinsy wouldn't give up the other $1 million to get Rogers. :headshake
