Jim Thome's 2009 option.
I assume you mean Swisher at first. Moving Konerko to DH downgrades the DH position. Moving Swisher to first base downgrades first base offensively. How is that beneficial? Swisher offensive numbers just aren't that great to put him in a spot were you can afford to trade defensive in for offense. If Swisher can put up an .840 OPS and hit 20 home runs, I can live with him in CF. If he can't even do that, I don't know why we would put him at first where the offensive demand is much greater.

Supreme Court Rules On Child Rapist
So what's the problem? It's cheaper to keep him off death row and he going to get brutalized in prison. (Conservative view point) We're (since the public's tax money is funding this) not killing a human being. (Liberal view point) It's a win-win

Supreme Court Rules On Child Rapist
He's going to wish he got the death penalty once the inside finds out what he's in for.

greg, who is the best third baseman in Chicago?

Films Thread
They've been running trailers for it in the theatre since late winter, and I didn't think the movie looked good figuring it would be rated PG-13. Now that it's getting good reviews, Angenlia looks to get nekkid, and it's rated R from stronger violence, I'm more inclined to see it.

2008 White Sox Catch-All Thread
Why don't you just watch tape of him instead to draw your conclusion? http://mlb.mlb.com/stats/individual_player...&statType=1 look at his hit spray chart @ Oakland. He's very good at going the other way. You don't need to have a high LD% to do that.

2008 White Sox Catch-All Thread
He's going from crap in the early innings to slightly above mediocre in the late innings. Since this is still a noticable difference, he's is branded as one of the most CLUTCH!!! players in Sox history. :rolly: That lazy, unclutch third baseman of the Cubs sur had a great game yesterday.

Mother Nature vs. State of Iowa
There was an e-mail floating around friday with that picture. This first picture is of the Iowa State Cyclone football team helping out after the Parkersburg tornado This second picture is the University of Iowa Hawkeye football team helping out with the recent flooding in Cedar Rapids (insert your attachment.)

Dear Ozzie
Career wise Jim Thome is a .280/.407/.562 hitter. Are you going to let half a season of .228/.353/.469 persuade you otherwise?

Dear Ozzie
The same Eyre that just gave up a grand slam to the lefty Carl Crawford? Jim Thome leads the team in OPS against lefties amongst the regular players. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/teams/chw/stat...d=0&sort=25

Barry Zito
I'll ask it again; would it be smart for the Giants to give up Lincecum to rid themselves ofZito's entire contract? If you were the GM would you take Zito and his whole contract if you knew you were getting Lincecum?

Bill Bavasi Fired
Ha. They also released Jorge Campillo I forgot about Chris Reitsma robbing them of a few million when everyone knew he was an injury risk. They got very little for Winn putting up a monster half with the Giants Scott Spiezio was horrible for $6 million. (not sure if that was his too) Forgot to add $3.15 million for Rich Aurilia and signing Jeff Weaver.

IMDB is just based on the public opinion and they have some funny system in place to prevent downvoting or upvoting. Metacritic weighs the critic's opinions more than Rottentomatoes.

Films Thread
I hated the ending to the first X-Men movie and how rushed some things were. Now that I think of it more, the mysterious killing of Cyclops sucked more than the death (?) of Sabertooth. Toad and Rouge were both really annoying in the first movie too. They're about both pretty close to "teh suck." I'm not going to go out of my way to see either of the FF4 movies, but I read due to the dialogue and Fishburne, the Silver Surfer was too similar to Morpheus character.

I just rented Signs and wasn't too entertained with that one either. The alien looked too hokey. It also bothered me how the first slide of the opening and closing credits was the director's name in huge letters. Boost the ego a little much?
