Frank Thomas Released By The Blue Jays/signed by the A's
Sammy Sosa is a future hall of famer! How dare the Cubs treat him the way they did. If it weren't for Sosa, they wouldn't have made the playoffs in 1998 and 2003. Seems to be a decent comparison to me if you subtract the roids from Sosa.

Frank Thomas Released By The Blue Jays/signed by the A's
Wrong. They say it was mutually. Any more excuses for the whiner? FT - "wahh, they're sitting me because I'm not performaning. I always start slow" BJ's - "Fine, you want your release?" FT - "Yeah. Someone else will play me." BJ's - "Fine. Take your release and money and STFU." Nothing but a power play.

Shea Hillenbrand is a clubhouse cancer. Find a better example. I think Gibbons should've moved Frank around in the lineup, but that wouldn't keep Frank from whining.

Frank Thomas Released By The Blue Jays/signed by the A's
Not sox news.... ...but for people who say "how can you do this to a legend," do you feel the Cubs mistreated Sosa, or that he wasn't crazy for sitting out the 2006 because nobody would give him a major league deal? Frank was also dumped by his agents years ago for pouting. I wonder how the plate appearance clause will play into effect if another team picks him up. I think that's what Frank is concened about the most.

4/19 Gamethread: Sox (10-6) at Rays (7-10); 6:10; WGN
All we heard about was how Cabrera was going to be an infield leader and yet all he did was get in the way of a run down. That's cost us two runs. f*** that guy.

I don't care what his surprising OBP and walk rate is, Cabrera has been terrible.

Crawford not making the best out of his pathetic .260ish OBP.

ESPN article
The Royals signed Riske for a whopping $2 million, a 200 raise over what he made with the pair of Sox. Their closer was a rule 5 pick in Soria. It's not that we wanted to bring him back, it's that the Sox foolishly decided not to offer arbitration to him when he was a type "A" free agent. That's two draft picks or a 2.45 ERA and 1.263 WHIP for $2 million down the s***ter.

This disgusts me
But like Jim said, it's a symbol that's representing an important symbol. Is it not a big deal to use someone's picture on a dartboard or tear it up on national TV like Sinead O'Connor did with the Pope? Destroying a picture of something is a bad as wiping mud all over another image IMO.

I also like how creationists point out how scientists may have changed their minds on an original thought (ie, did more research and came to another conclusion, typical in the scientific method) and use that as a basis to dimiss the entire scientific theory of evolution. Pluto was just voted out of the solar system. Those damn scientists just can't get it right. I bet we should just forget everything we learned about the universe and go back to thinking the sun revolves around the Earth like the bible implies.

I wasn't trying to compare the validity of the theory of evolution to simple math or history from a time period where we still have survivors from this era. My point was how silly it is to have tax paying citizens decide what to teach in school. Quite often I see a creationist say "This is a democratic society, put it to vote. They're taking away our rights as citizens" but it isn't comparable at all. Also if the theory of evolution can't be "settled or proved," despite the millions of pieces of evidence to support it, ID isn't even worth mentioning at a PA meeting. Don't teach either if it's such a big deal. Make the kids take another math class.

Science isn't a democratic debate. If taxpayers want social study teachers to teach the world is flat and have math teachers teach 1+2=4, they shouldn't tell the dislikers to go to home school. A more serious example, how about a town filled with Neo-Nazis who don't want history teachers to teach about the Holocaust because they feel it didn't happen. Doing away with public funding education is beyond ridiculous as well.
